Turn the switch to theposition:
The front combination, rear combination,
license plate and instrument panel lights
come on.Turn the switch to the
position:
The headlights come on and all the other
lights remain on.
To select the high beam function, push the
lever forward. The high beam lights comeon and the
light illuminates. Pull it back
to select the low beam.
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHT
SYSTEM (Canada only)
The headlights automatically illuminate at a
reduced intensity when the engine is started
with the parking brake released. The day-
time running lights operate with the head-
light switch in the OFF position or in the
position. Turn the headlight switch
to the
position for full illumination
when driving at night. If the parking brake is
applied before the engine is started, the
daytime running lights do not illuminate. The
daytime running lights illuminate once the
parking brake is released. The daytime run-
ning lights will remain on until the ignition
switch is turned off.
WARNING
When the daytime running light system
is active, tail lights on your vehicle are
not on. It is necessary at dusk to turn
on your headlights. Failure to do so
could cause an accident injuring your-

Passing signal
Pulling the lever toward you turns on the
headlight high beam.
Turn signal
Move the lever up or down to signal the
turning direction. When the turn is com-
pleted, the turn signal cancels automatically.
Lane change signal
To indicate a lane change, move the lever
up or down to the point where the indicator
light begins to flash, but the lever does not
latch.
To turn the front fog lights on, rotate the
switch to the
position.
To turn them off, rotate the switch to the
OFF position.
The headlight switch must be in the
position (low beam headlights on) for
the fog lights to operate. The fog lights
automatically turn off whenever the high
beam headlight function is selected.

The ignition switch must be in the ON position
for the wipers or washer to be activated. Push
the lever down to operate the wipers, and pull
the lever toward you to operate the washer.
Operating the washer automatically cycles
the wipers several times.
Intermittent wiper operation can be adjusted
from 1 to 19 seconds by turning the time
control knob (Type B only).
CAUTION
ODo not operate the washer continu-
ously for more than 30 seconds.
ODo not operate the washer if the
reservoir tank is empty.
ODo not fill the window washer reser-
voir tank with washer fluid concen-
trates at full strength. Some methyl
alcohol based washer fluid concen-
trates may permanently stain the
grille if spilled while filling the win-
dow washer reservoir tank.OPre-mix washer fluid concentrates
with water to the manufacturer's rec-
ommended levels before pouring the
fluid into the window washer reser-
voir tank. Do not use the window
washer reservoir tank to mix the
washer fluid concentrate and water.WARNING
In freezing temperatures the washer
solution may freeze on the windshield
and obscure your vision which may
lead to an accident. Warm the wind-
shield with the defroster before you
wash the windshield.

To operate the wiper, push the switch to theside. The wiper operates intermit-
tently.
To operate the washer, push and hold the
switch down to the
side. The wiper will
cycle twice.
CAUTION
ODo not operate the washer continu-
ously for more than 30 seconds.
ODo not operate the washer if the
reservoir tank is empty.
WARNING
In freezing temperatures the washer
solution may freeze on the window and
obscure your vision. Warm the rear
window with the defogger before you
wash the rear window.
The instrument brightness control operates
when the light switch is in the
orposition.
Turn the control to adjust the brightness of
the instrument panel lights.

To defog the rear window, start the engine
and push the rear window defogger switch
on. The rear window defogger indicator light
on the switch comes on. Push the switch
again to turn the defogger off.
The rear window defogger automatically
turns off after approximately 15 minutes.
CAUTION
When cleaning the inner side of the
window, be careful not to scratch or
damage the rear window defogger.Push the switch on to warn other drivers
when you must stop or park under emer-
gency conditions. All turn signal lights flash.
WARNING
OWhen stalled or stopped on the road-
way under emergency conditions,
move the vehicle well off the road.ODo not use the hazard warning flash-
ers while moving on the highway
unless unusual circumstances force
you to drive so slowly that your ve-
hicle might become a hazard to other
traffic.
OTurn signals do not work when the
hazard warning flasher lights are on.
The hazard warning flashers can be actu-
ated with the ignition switch in any position.
Some state laws may prohibit the use of
the hazard warning flasher switch while
driving.

The cigarette lighter element is an acces-
sory. A genuine NISSAN cigarette lighter or
equivalent can be purchased from an autho-
rized NISSAN dealer.
The cigarette lighter operates when the
ignition switch is in the ACC or ON position.
Push the lighter in all the way. When the
lighter is heated, it springs out.
Return the lighter to its original position after
use.
WARNING
The cigarette lighter should not be
used while driving so full attention may
be given to vehicle operation.
CAUTION
The cigarette lighter socket is a power
source for the cigarette lighter element
only. The use of the cigarette lighter
socket as a power source for any other
accessory is not recommended.
POWER POINT (if so equipped)
The power point can be used for powering
accessories. They are rated at 12 Volts 120
Watts maximum.
CAUTION
OTake care as the socket and plug
may be hot during or immediately
after use.
OThis power point is not designed for
use with a cigarette lighter unit.

ODo not use with accessories that
exceed a 12 volt, 120W (10A) power
draw. Do not use double adapters or
more than one electrical accessory.
OUse this power point with the engine
running. (If the engine is stopped,
this could result in a discharged bat-
tery.)
OAvoid using when the air condi-
tioner, headlights or rear window de-
fogger is on.OBefore inserting or disconnecting a
plug, be sure to turn off the electrical
accessory being used or the ACC
power of the vehicle.
OPush the plug in as far as it will go. If
good contact is not made, the plug
may overheat or the internal tem-
perature fuse may blow.
OWhen not in use, be sure to close the
cap. Do not allow water to contact
the socket.
A storage compartment is located in the
center bottom of the instrument panel.

The tie down hooks can be used to secure
cargo with ropes or other types of straps.
WARNING
OProperly secure all cargo to help
prevent it from sliding or shifting. Do
not place cargo higher than the seat-
backs. In a sudden stop or collision,
unsecured cargo could cause per-
sonal injury.
OUse suitable ropes and hooks to se-
cure cargo.
ONever allow anyone to ride in the
luggage area. It is extremely danger-
ous to ride in a cargo area inside of a
vehicle. In a collision, people riding
in these areas are more likely to be
seriously injured or killed.
ODo not allow people to ride in any
area of your vehicle that is not
equipped with seats and seat belts.
OBe sure everyone in your vehicle is
in a seat and using a seat belt prop-
erly.Do not apply a total load of more than 33
lbs (15kg) to a single hook when secur-
ing cargo.
