DESCRIPTION & OPERATION
With ignition switch in RUN position, battery voltage is
applied to master power window switch located on driver's door. Master
power window switch provides power and ground for all power window
switches and motors. Master power window switch offers one-touch
operation of driver's window. A solid state control unit, incorporated
in master switch, fully lowers driver's window when switch is
completely depressed. Master switch also includes lock-out feature to
prevent passengers from operating any of the other power window door
switches.

TROUBLE SHOOTING
POWER WINDOWS INOPERATIVE
Check for faulty fusible link, faulty power window relay or
faulty power window switches. See WIRING DIAGRAMS.
ONE WINDOW FAILS TO OPERATE
If one window does not operate, even if both master and
passenger side power window switches are pressed, check for faulty
master power window switch or power window motor that is inoperative.
If one window does not operate only when either master or passenger
side power window switch is pressed, but does operate when both
switches are pressed, check power window switch that is inoperative.
ONE-TOUCH SWITCH FUNCTION INOPERATIVE
Replace master power window switch.
COMPONENT TESTS
CIRCUIT BREAKER TEST
Press UP switch to fully close window. Continue to press
switch for 10 seconds. Release UP switch and immediately press DOWN
switch. If window begins to open within 60 seconds, circuit breaker is

from -30 F (-34 C) to -10 F (-23 C). SAE 75W may be used

SEAT ASSEMBLY
Removal & Installation (Functioning Power Seat)
With ignition on, move seat fully rearward. Remove front seat
anchor covers and remove nuts. Move seat fully forward. Remove rear
seat anchor covers and remove bolts. Turn ignition off. Disconnect
electrical harness connectors. Remove seat assembly. To install,
reverse removal procedure.
Removal & Installation (Malfunctioning Power Seat)
1) Removal of seat assembly front or rear mounting bolt is
not possible due to malfunction of slide motor, slide switch or frozen
slide rails. If seat is stuck in forward position, go to next step. If
seat is stuck in rearward position, go to step 3).
2) Remove rear seat anchor covers and mounting bolts. Remove
adjuster screw nut housing mounting bolt. See Fig. 7. Both adjuster
screw nut housings mount to center of slider frame rail. Insert
screwdriver blade between housing nut and rail. Lift and rotate
housing nut. Slide seat back and remove front anchor nuts. Once seat
is repaired, install housing nut bolts.
3) Lift up front seat cushion cover to expose slide motor.
Remove slide motor mounting bolts. If seat assembly cannot be moved
forward, remove slide motor bracket mounting bolts. Move seat forward
and remove rear anchor bolts. Once seat is repaired, install slide
motor bracket mounting bolts.

Disconnect ignition switch connector. Check continuity

between specified terminals. See Figs. 1 and 3. If continuity is not
as specified, replace ignition switch.

Key Reminder Switch Test
Remove instrument panel lower cover. Disconnect key reminder
switch harness connector. Check continuity between specified terminals
with ignition key inserted and removed from ignition switch. See
Fig. 4 . If continuity is not as specified, replace key reminder
switch.
