ontrol orifice in the pump rod determines the levelling height. When the damper is compressed, this orifice is covered.
When the damper extends, the control orif ice is uncovered, pressure is released to the low pressure oil reservoir and the
system ceases to rise. When the vehicle is high after unloading, the opened control or ifice allows fluid to be returned to the
low pressure oil reservoir, and the suspensi on returns to its normal unladen height.

Adaptive damping enhances vehicle handli ng by the use of special dampers which are controlled by a dedicated control
module.
Adaptive damping may be specified as an option on certai n models. Adaptive damping and ride levelling are mutually
exclusive options. The adaptive damping system is completely automatic, requiring no input from the driver.

3. Disconnect the brake servo hose.

60. Fit engine rear lifting eyes (303 - 536).
61. Traverse the hoist to the engine compartment and lower it to
working height.
62. Fit lifting chains to the hoist and connect to each engine
lifting eye. Use longer chains to the rear lifting eyes to allow
the engine to tilt rearwards wh en removing from the vehicle.

63. Remove the engine front mounting nuts.
64. Raise the ramp.

65. Disconnect the transmission connector.
1. Release the lever lock on the transmission harness
multi-plug.
2. Disconnect the connector.
66. Disconnect the transmission selector cable.

Remove the engine and transmission assembly, upwards
and forwards, from the vehicle.

71. Remove the engine and tran smission assembly from the
vehicle.
Operate the crane controls and the ramp simultaneously
(with assistance) to lower the vehicle to a convenient
working height.
Traverse the crane clear until the assembly can be
lowered.

Align th

n to the stated torque value.
3. Operate the crane controls and the ramp simultaneously (with
assistance) to raise the vehicle to a convenient working height.

4. Po
sition the transmission jack and raise it to take the weight of
the transmission. Fit and adjust the chains to secure the
transmission to the jack.

2. Remove the bolt which secure s the engine rear mounting
rubber to the transmission.
3. Position a transmission jack under the transmission casing.
Take the weight of the transmission on the jack.

4. Remove the rear mounting rubber.
1. Slacken the four bolt s which secure the rear
crossmember to the vehicle floor.
2. Remove the two bolts which secure the mounting rubber to the crossmember.
3. Remove the mounting rubber.

1. Fit the mounting rubber assembly to position and tighten the
centre bolt to 30-40 Nm .
2. Tighten the crossmember to body bolts and the mounting
rubber to crossmember bolts to 22-28 Nm.

The functi
on of the parking aid is to prov
ide an audible warning to the driver of the distance to obstacles near the rear
bumper of the vehicle when parking or travelling at a slow sp eed. The system provides an assistance to the driver when
parking in order to help avoid collision with obstacles.
The sensor range at the rear of the vehicl e should be 1.8 meters. This should extend the full width of the rear bumper and
reduce to 50 cm at the vehicle co rners. The vertical range is adequate to protec t the highest and lowest points of the rear of
the vehicle. The system will detect curbs with heights of at least 18 cm. Obstacles, such as curbs, that are low enough to
pass under the vehicle until they make contact with the tires will not be detected.
The system activates a specific speaker with a tone signifying the distance to the obstacle. The tone consists of a beep and
defined space ratio which varies depending on the calculated distance. When the distance to the obstacle is less than 20 cm
the speaker tone is continuous.
The parking aid is continuously in operation, unless towing wh en the system automatically switches off. If the reverse aid
develops a fault the tone will sound continuously for three seconds when the igni tion is switched on or the reverse gear is
selected.
