Manual Transmission Fluid
When to Check
A good time to have it checked is when the engine oil is
changed. However, the fluid in YOLK manual
transmission doesn't require changing.
How to Check
Because this operation can be a little dii'licult, you
may choose to have this done at your GM dealership
Service Department.
If you do it yourself, be sure to follow all the
instructions here, or you could get
false reading.
NOTICE:
Too much or too little fluid can damage your
transmission.
Too much can mean that some of
the fluid could come out and fall on hot engine
parts or exhaust system parts, starting a
fire. Be
~ sure to get an accurate reading if you check your
~ transmission fluid.

Adding only plain water to your cooling system can be dangerous. Plain water, or some other
liquid like alcohol, can boil before the proper
coolant mix will. Your vehicle’s coolant warning
system
is set for the proper coolant mix. With
plain water or the wrong mix, your engine could
get too hot but you wouldn’t get the overheat warning. Your engine could catch fire and you or
others could be burned. Use a
50/50 mix of clean
water and
DEX-COOL@ coolant.
NOTICE:
If you use an improper coolant mix, your engine
could overheat and be badly damaged. The
repair cost wouldn’t be covered by your
warranty.
Too much water in the mix can freeze
and crack the engine, radiator, heater core and
other parts.
If you have to add coolant more than four times a year,
have your dealer check your cooling
system.
I NOTICE:
If you use the proper coolant, you don’t have to
add extra inhibitors or additives which claim to improve the system. These can be harmful.

Short Trip/City Maintenance Schedule
The services shown in this schedule LIP to 100.000 miles
( I66 000 km) should be performed after 100,000 miles
( 166 000 km) at the same intervals. The services shown
at 150.000 miles (240
000 km) should be performed at
the
same interval after 150.000 miles (240 000 km).
See "Owner Checks and Services" and "Periodic
Maintenance Inspections" following.
Footnotes
-f The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the
California Air Resources Board has determined that the
failure to perform this maintenance item will not
nullify
the emission warranty or limit recall liability prior to the
completion
of the vehicle's useful life. We. however,
urge that
all recommended maintenance services be
performed at the indicated intervals and
the maintenance
be recorded.
## Lubricate the front suspension. ball joints. steering
linkage and transfer case shift linkage. parking brake
cable guides, propshaft splines. Lulivel-sal joints and
brake

+ A good time to check your brakes is during tire
rotation. See "Brake System Inspection" under "Periodic
Maintenance Inspection"
in Part C of this schedule.

Locking Differential -- Drain fluid and refill at first
engine oil change. At subsequent oil changes, check
fluid level and add fluid as needed.
If driving in
dusty areas or towing a trailer, drain tluid and refil

(25 000 km).
Standard Differential
-- Check fluid level and add

as needed at every oil change. If driving in
dusty areas or towing a trailer, drain fluid and refil
