Seats and Seat Controls
This part tells you about the seats -- how to adjust them,
and also about reclining front seatbacks, head restraints,
easy entry seats and the folding rear seatback.
n- nual Front Seat
You can lose control of the vehicle if you try to
adjust
a manual driver’s seat while the vehicle is
~ moving. The sudden movement could startle and
confuse you, or make you push a pedal when you
don’t want to. Adjust the driver’s seat only when
the vehicle is not moving.
Lift the lever under the front seat to unlock it. Slide the
seat
to where you want it. Release the lever and try to
move the seat with your body, to make sure the seat is
locked into place.

Folding the Rear Seatback (2-Door Models)
The rear seat in your Geo folds to provide more cargo space.
To fold the rear seat, lower the rear seatback and then
flip the whole rear seat
up against the front seats.
I
1. Swing the safety belt buckles forward and down.
2. Pull the knobs on both sides of the seatback. If you
have the split rear seat,
you can fold half of the seat
by pulling only the knob
on the side you wish to fold.

Do not load your vehicle any heavier than the
GVWR, or either the maximum front or rear
GAWR. If you do, parts on your vehicle can
break, or it can change the way your vehicle
handles. These could cause you to lose control.
Also, overloading can shorten the life of
your vehicle.
NOTICE:
Your warranty does not cover parts or
components that fail because of overloading.
If you put things inside your vehicle -- like suitcases,
tools, packages or anything else
-- they will go as fast as
the vehicle goes. If you have to stop or turn quickly, or
if there
is a crash, they’ll keep going.
=
Things you put inside your vehicle can strike
and injure people in
a sudden stop or turn,
or in
a crash.
Put things in the cargo area of your vehicle.
Try to spread the weight evenly.
Never stack heavier things, like suitcases,
inside the vehicle
so that some of them are
above the tops of the seats.
Don’t leave an unsecured child restraint in
your vehicle.
When you carry something inside the
vehicle, secure it whenever you can.
Don’t leave a seat folded down unless you
need to.
There’s also important loading information for off-road
driving in this manual. See “Loading Your Vehicle for
Off-Road Driving” in the Index.
