& VAROITUS (1) Alkaa irrottako virtalukkoa ajon aikana, Oh­jauspyora lukkiutuu aiheuttaen hallinnan menetyk­sen. (2) Jos pysaytatte moottorin ajon aikana avainta kaantamalla. jarrutehostin lakkaa toimimasta ja jarrutusteho vahenee. Myos ohjaustehostin lakkaa toimimasta. jolloin ohjauspyoran kaantaminen kay raskaammaksi. (3) Alkaa jattako avainta asentoon "ON" pitkaksi aikaa silloin kun moottori ei kay, silla akku tyhjenee. (4) Alkaa kaantako avainta asentoon "START" kun moottori kay, silla kaynnistysmoottori voi va­hingoittua.

& CAUTION (1) Do not remove the ignition key from the ignition switch while driving. The steering wheel will be locked, causing loss of control. (2) If the engine is stopped while driving, the brake servomechanism will cease to function and braking efficiency will deteriorate. Also, power steering system will not function and it will require greater manual effort to operate the steering. (3) Do not leave the key in the "ON" position for a long time when the engine is not running; doing so will cause the battery to be discharged. (4) Do not turn the key to the "START" position when the engine is running; doing so could damage the starter motor.

How to lock and unlock the

TO LOCK
Remove the key at the "LOCK" position. Slightly turn the steering wheel until it is
locked.
TO UNLOCK
Turn the key to the "ACe position while moving the steering wheel slightly.
& CAUTION Remove the key when leaving the vehicle.

& VAROITUS Ala kayta takatasauspyoraston lukkoa ajaessasi tavallisilla teilla. Virheellinen kaytto vaikeuttaa ajoneuvon kaantymista tai saattaa aiheuttaa odottamattoman suun­nan muuttumisen. Muista var­mistaa, etta toiminnan merkkivalo ei pala. kun ajat tavallisilla teilla. (1) Kaytettaessa vahingossa ajet-taessa paallystetyilla teilla: Kun takatasauspyoraston lukko on kytketty. voima ajo­neuvon suoraan vetoon voi­mistuu huomattavasti. joten ohjauspyoran kaantaminen vaikeutuu. (2) Kaytettaessa vahingossa kaanteissa tai tehtaessa kaannos vasemmalle tai oi­kealle risteyksessa tms. Ajo­neuvo ei pysty kaantymaan ja saattaa kulkea suoraan eteen­pain.

Examples of incorrect use of the
rear differential lock EI34CA
& CAUTION Do not use the rear differential lock when driving on normal roads. Incorrect use of it may make the vehicle difficult to turn or may change its direction abruptly. Be sure to confirm that the operation indication lamp is off when driving on normal roads. (1) If it is used by mistake when driving on a paved road: With the rear differential lock on. the power to drive the vehicle straight ahead becomes very strong. which may make it difficult to turn the steering wheel. (2) If it is used by mistake when turning a curve or making a right or left turn at a crossing or the like: The vehicle is un­able to make a turn and may go straight ahead.

(1) Siirtakaa vaihde (kasivaihteisto) tai valitsinvipu (auto­maattivaihteisto) vapaalle tai "N " -asentoon. (2) Siirtakaa vaihdevipu asentoon "2H". (3) Ajoneuvoissa joissa on takatasauspybrastbn lukkojar­
jestolmii, asetetaan lukkokytkin OFF-asentoon. (4) Alkaa ylittakb laillista hinausnopeutta .
Lisiiksi jos auto on seuraavantyyppinen, varmistakaa, etta
alia ilmoitettua hinausnopeutta j a -matkaa ei kosk aan

If your vehicle is to be towed, pay careful attention to the following points:
(1) Move the gearshift lever (manual transmission) or the
selector lever (automatic transmission) to neutral or the "N".
(2) Move the transfer shift lever to "2H" position. (3) Vehicles with rear differential lock system , turn off the rear
differantial lock switch. (4) Be sure the towing speed is within the legal limit. In addition, if the vehicle is of the following type , make sure that the towing speed and distance given below are never
exceeded .
Vehicles
with an automatic transmission Towing speed : 30 km/h (19 mph ) Towing distance : 30 km (19 miles)
(5) If the transmission is malfunctioning or damaged , or if a
vehicle with an automatic transmission must be towed farther than 30 km (19 miles), tow the vehicle with the rear
wheels raised off the ground. (6) Turn the ignition switch to the "ACe or "ON" position to unlock the steering wheel. (7) Turn on the hazard warning lamps . (8) During towing make sure that close contact is maintained between the drivers of both vehicles, and that the vehicles travel at low speed. Avoid abrupt starting or stopping which might subject the vehicles to shock . (9) As the engine is not running, the brake booster and power steering pump do not operate . This means higher brak e
depression force and higher steering effort are required.
Th erefore, operation is more
difficult than usual.

Power steering fluid* EM09A-Ba
Check the fluid level in the reservoir while the engine is idling. Unscrew the reservoir cap; the level
gauge is attached to the bottom of the
cap.
The level should be
between the "MAX" and "MIN" lines on the level gauge.
Use "DEXRON" or "DEXRON II" auto­
matic transmission
fluid.

Tarkastakaa liikuttamalla ohjauspybriiii
vasemmalle ja oikealle .
Jos ajoneuvossa on ohjaustehostin, to­detkaa ohjauspybriin vapaaliike mootto­
rin kiiydessii tyhjiikiiyntiii.
Ohjauspybriin vapaaliikkeen tulee olla
annetun arvon sisiillii.

Meter, gauge and indication/warning
lamp operation
Run the engine to check the operation of all meters , gauges ,
and indication/warning lamps .
If there is anything wrong, take the vehicle to an authorized MITSUBISHI dealer for inspection .
Steering wheel free play EMI6A·Aa
Check by moving the steering wheel left
and right.
On vehicles equipped
with power steer­
ing , check the steering wheel free play while the engine is idling. The free play at the circumference should not exceed the standard value.

If the steering wheel free play exceeds
the standard value, have the steering
wheel adjusted at an authorized MITSU­BISHI dealer.
