Checking triggering
If voltage tester does not flash, or lights up constantly:
If voltage tester lights up constantly:
If voltage tester does not flash: - Connect VAG 1527B voltage tester between EGR vacuum regulator
solenoid valve connector terminals 1 (B+) and 2 using jumper wires
from connector test kit VW 1594.
- Use scan tool "Output Diagnostic Test Mode" function 03 to trigger
EGR vacuum regulator solenoid valve page 01

Voltage tester must flash
- Connect VAG 1598/19 test box to ECM wiring harness page 01

- Check wiring for short to Ground (GND) between valve connector
terminal 2 and test box socket E1.
- Check wiring for continuity and short to B+ between valve connector
terminal 2 and test box socket E1.
Specified value: max. 1.0 ohm ( )
If wiring is OK: - If necessary, eliminate short or open circuit in wiring.
