For safety and security
■Removing a child restraint
system installed with a seat
belt
Press the buckle release button
and fully retract the seat belt.
When releasing the buckle, the
child restraint system may spring
up due to the rebound of the seat
cushion. Release the buckle while
holding down the child restraint
system.
Since the seat belt automatically
reels itself, slowly return it to the
stowing position.
WARNING
■When installing a child
restraint system
Observe the following precau-
tions.
Failure to do so m ay result in
death or serious injury.
●Do not allow children to play
with the seat belt. If the seat belt
becomes twisted around a
child’s neck, it may lead to
choking or other serious injuries
that could result in death.
If this occurs and the buckle
cannot be unfastened, scissors
should be used to cut the belt.
●Ensure that the belt and plate
are securely locked and the
seat belt is not twisted.
●Shake the child restraint system
left and right, and forward and
backward to ensure that it has
been securely installed.
●After securing a child restraint
system, never adjust the seat.
●When a booster seat is
installed, always ensure that the
shoulder belt is positioned
across the center of the child’s
shoulder. The belt should be
kept away from the child’s neck,
but not so that it could fall off the
child’s shoulder.
●Follow all installation instruc-
tions provided by the child
restraint system manufacturer.
●When securing some types of
child restraint systems in rear
seats, it may not be possible to
properly use the seat belts in
positions next to the child
restraint without interfering with
it or affecting s eat belt effective-
ness. Be sure your seat belt fits
snugly across your shoulder
and low on your hips. If it does
not, or if it interferes with the
child restraint, move to a differ-
ent position. Fa ilure to do so
may result in death or serious
injury.
●When installing a child restraint
system in the ce nter rear seat,
adjust both seatbacks at the
same angle. Otherwise, the
child restraint system cannot be
securely restrained and this
may cause death or serious
injuries in the event of sudden
braking, sudden swerving or an
accident.

WARNING
■When installing a booster
seat
To prevent the b elt from going
into ALR lock mode, do not fully
extend the shoulder belt. ALR
mode causes the belt to tighten
only. This could cause injury or
discomfort to the child. ( P.39)
■Do not use a seat belt
extender
If a seat belt extender is used
when installing a child restraint
system, the seat belt will not
securely hold the child restraint
system, which could cause death
or serious injury to the child or
other passengers in the event of
sudden braking, sudden swerv-
ing or an accident.

WARNING
■To prevent an accident
Observe the following precautions
while driving t he vehicle.
Failure to do so m ay result in a
door opening and an occupant
could be thrown out of the vehicle,
resulting in dea th or serious
injury.
●Ensure that all doors are prop-
erly closed and locked.
●Do not pull the inside handle of
the doors while driving.
Be especially careful for the
front doors, as the doors may
be opened even if the inside
lock buttons are in locked posi-
tion.
■When opening or closing a
door
Check the surroundings of the
vehicle such as whether the vehi-
cle is on an incline, whether there
is enough space for a door to
open and whether a strong wind
is blowing. When opening or clos-
ing the door, hold the door handle
tightly to prepare for any unpre-
dictable movement.
■When using the wireless
remote control and operating
the power windows or moon
roof (if equipped)
Operate the power window or
moon roof (if equipped) after
checking to make sure that there
is no possibility of any passenger
having any of their body parts
caught in the window or moon
roof (if equipped). Also, do not
allow children to operate the wire-
less remote control. It is possible
for children and other passengers
to get caught in the power window
or moon roof (if equipped).

■Caution while driving
Observe the following precautions
while driving. Failure to do so may
cause a door to open unexpect-

serious injury.
●Make sure that all doors are
properly closed and locked.
●Set the sliding door child-pro-

●Do not leave children alone in
the vehicle. If a child is acciden-

could have heat exhaustion or
other injuries.
●Do not allow a child to open or
close the sliding door. Doing so
may cause the sliding door to
move unexpectedly, or cause
the child’s hands, head, or neck
to be caught by the moving slid-
ing door.
■Operating the sliding doors
Observe the following precau-
tions. Failure to do so may cause
parts of the body to be caught,
resulting in dea th or serious

●When opening or closing the
sliding doors with windows

●Do not leave the sliding door at
half-opened position because
the sliding door is not latched at
this position. The sliding door
may move unexpectedly on an
incline.
●When the vehicle is stopped on
a slope, the door will slide faster
when opening or closing, so be
especially careful that the pas-
sengers do not get hit or
pinched by the door.
1423-2. Opening, closing and locking the doors
3When the kick sensor detects
that your foot is pulled back,
the sliding door will automati-
