WARNING
■Before using LTA system
● Do not rely solely upon the LTA system. The LTA system does not auto-
matically drive the vehicle or reduce the amount of attention that must be
paid to the area in front of the vehicle. The driver must always assume full
responsibility for driving safely by paying careful attention to the surround-
ing conditions and operating the steering wheel to correct the path of the
vehicle. Also, the driver must take adequate breaks when fatigued, such
as from driving for a long period of time.
● Failure to perform appropriate driving operations and pay careful attention
may lead to an accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
● When not using the LTA system, use the LTA switch to turn the system off.
■ Situations unsuitable for LTA system
In the following situations, use the LTA switch to turn the system off. Failure
to do so may lead to an accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
● Vehicle is driven on a road surface which is slippery due to rainy weather,
fallen snow, freezing, etc.
● Vehicle is driven on a snow-covered road.
● White (yellow) lines are difficult to see due to rain, snow, fog, dust, etc.
● Vehicle is driven in a temporary lane or restricted lane due to construction
work.
● Vehicle is driven in a construction zone.
● A spare tire, tire chains, etc. are equipped.
● When the tires have been excessively worn, or when the tire inflation pres-
sure is low.
● During emergency towing.
■ Preventing LTA system malfunctions and operations performed by
mistake
● Do not modify the headlights or place stickers, etc. on the surface of the
lights.
● Do not modify the suspension etc. If the suspension etc. needs to be
replaced, contact any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized
repairer, or any reliable repairer.
● Do not install or place anything on the hood or grille. Also, do not install a
grille guard (bull bars, kangaroo bar, etc.).
● If your windshield needs repairs, contact any authorized Toyota retailer or
Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.

PRIUS_OM_OM47F32E_(EE)■Automatic cancelation of constant speed control mode
Constant speed control mode is automatically canceled in the following situa-
tions:
●Actual vehicle speed is more than approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) below
the set vehicle speed.
●Actual vehicle speed falls below approximately 30 km/h (20 mph).
●VSC is activated.
●TRC is activated for a period of time.
●When the VSC or TRC system is turned off.
●When the brake control or output restriction control of a driving support sys-
tem operates. (For example: Pre-Collision System, Drive-Start Control)
If constant speed control mode is automatically canceled for any reasons
other than the above, there may be a malfunction in the system. Contact any
authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.
■The Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Road Sign Assist may not oper-
ate properly when (vehicles with RSA [Road Sign Assist])
As the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Road Sign Assist may not oper-
ate properly in conditions in which RSA may not operate or detect correctly
(P. 327), when using this function, make sure to check the speed limit
sign displayed.
In the following situations, the set speed may not be changed to the recog-
nized speed limit by pushing the lever up or down.
●If speed limit information is not available
●When the recognized speed limit is the same as the set speed
●When the recognized speed limit is outside of the speed range that the
dynamic radar cruise control system can operate
■Brake operation
A brake operation sound may be heard and the brake pedal response may
change, but these are not malfunctions.
■Warning messages and buzzers for dynamic radar cruise control with
full-speed range
Warning messages and buzzers are used to indicate a system malfunction or
to inform the driver of the need for caution while driving. If a warning message
is shown on the multi-information display, read the message and follow the
instructions. (P. 294, 589)

Normal mode
Suitable for normal driving.
When normal mode is selected, the “ECO MODE” and “PWR MODE”
indicators turn off.
Power mode
Suitable for when crisp handling and enhanced accelerator
response are desired, such as when driving on mountainous roads.
When power mode is selected, the “PWR MODE” indicator will illumi-
nate on the main display.
Eco drive mode
Suitable for driving that improves fuel economy by generating
torque in response to accelerator pedal operations more smoothly
than in normal mode.
When Eco drive mode is selected, the “ECO MODE” indicator will illumi-
nate on the main display.
While the air conditioning is being used, the system automatically
switches to air conditioning eco mode (P. 462), allowing for driving
that leads to even better fuel economy.
■When canceling Eco drive mode/power mode
●Press the switch again. Also, power mode will be canceled automatically
when the power switch is turned off.
●However, Normal mode and Eco drive mode will not be canceled automati-
cally until the switch is pressed, even if the power switch is turned off.

■Sensor detection information
●The sensor’s detection areas are limited to the areas around the vehicle’s
bumper.
●Depending on the shape of the obstacle and other factors, the detection dis-
tance may shorten, or detection may be impossible.
●Obstacles may not be detected if they are too close to the sensor.
●There will be a short delay between obstacle detection and display. Even
when traveling at a low speed, if you come too close to an obstacle before
the display and buzzer activate, the display and buzzer may not activate at
all.
●Thin posts or objects lower than the sensor may not be detected when
approached, even if they have been detected once.
●It might be difficult to hear beeps due to the volume of audio system or air
flow noise of the air conditioning system.

■ Objects which the system may not properly detect
The shape of the object may prevent the sensor from detecting it. Pay partic-
ular attention to the following objects:
● Wires, fences, ropes, etc.
● Cotton, snow and other materials that absorb sound waves
● Sharply-angled objects
● Low objects
● Tall objects with upper sections projecting outwards in the direction of your
vehicle
■ Situations in which the system may not operate properly
Certain vehicle conditions and the surrounding environment may affect the
ability of a sensor to correctly detect objects. Particular instances where this
may occur are listed below.
● There is dirt, snow, water drops or ice on a sensor. (Cleaning the sensors
will resolve this problem.)
● A sensor is frozen. (Thawing the area will resolve this problem.) In espe-
cially cold weather, if a sensor is frozen the sensor display may be displayed
abnormally, or objects, such as a wall, may not be detected.
● On an extremely bumpy road, on an incline, on gravel, or on grass.
● When vehicle horns, vehicle detectors, motorcycle engines, air brakes of
large vehicles, the clearance sonar of ot her vehicles or other devices which
produce ultrasonic waves are near the vehicle
● A sensor is coated with a sheet of spray or heavy rain.
● If objects draw too close to the sensor.
● When a pedestrian is wearing clothing that does not reflect ultrasonic waves
(ex. skirts with gathers or frills).
● When objects that are not perpendicular to the ground, not perpendicular to
the vehicle traveling direction, uneven, or waving are in the detection range.
● Strong wind is blowing
● When driving in inclement weather such as fog, snow or a sandstorm
● When an object that cannot be detected is between the vehicle and a
detected object
● If an object such as a vehicle, motorcycle, bicycle or pedestrian cuts in front
of the vehicle or runs out from the side of the vehicle
● When a sensor or the area around a
sensor is extremely hot or cold.

PRIUS_OM_OM47F32E_(EE)
■ When removing and installing the 12-volt battery
The system needs to be initialized.
The system can be initialized by driving the vehicle straight ahead for 5 sec-
onds or more at a speed of approximately 35 km/h (22 mph) or higher.
■ When “PKSB Unavailable” is displayed on the multi-information display
and the PKSB OFF indicator flashes
● Ice, snow, dirt, etc., may have adhered to the sensor. If this occurs, remove
the ice, snow, dirt, etc., from the sensor to return the system to normal.
Also, a warning message may be displayed at low temperatures due to ice
forming on the sensor, and the sensor may not detect obstacles. Once the
ice melts, the system will return to normal.
● If this message is shown even after removing dirt from the sensor, or shown
when the sensor was not dirty to begin with, have the vehicle inspected at
any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.
■ When “PKSB Malfunction Visit Your Dealer” is displayed on the multi-
information display, the PKSB OFF indicator flashes and the buzzer
sounds
The system may not be operating properly. Have the vehicle inspected at any
authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.
WARNING
■ Cautions regarding the use of the system
Do not rely solely upon the system. Relying solely upon the system may
lead to an unexpected accident.
● Driving safely is the sole responsibility of the driver. Pay careful attention
to the surrounding conditions in order to ensure safe driving. The Parking
Support Brake function can provide suppor t to lessen the severity of colli-
sions. However, it may not operate depending on the situation.
● The Parking Support Brake function is not a system designed to com-
pletely stop the vehicle. Furthermore, even if the Parking Support Brake
function is able to stop the vehicle, brake control is canceled after approxi-
mately 2 seconds, so depress the brake pedal immediately.
● It is extremely dangerous to check the system operations by intentionally
driving the vehicle into the direction of a wall, etc. Never attempt such
actions.

GPF (Gasoline Par ticulate Filter) system
■If “Exhaust Filter Full See Owner’s Manual” is shown on the multi-infor-
mation display
● The message may be displayed while high load driving with particulate mat-
ter accumulating.
● Hybrid system output (engine speed) is restricted when a certain amount of
particulate matter accumulates, however, it is possible to drive the vehicle
unless the malfunction indicator lamp comes on.
● Particulate matter can accumulate more quickly if the vehicle is frequently
driven short trips or at low speeds, or if the hybrid system is regularly started
in an extremely cold environment. Excessive accumulation of particulate
matter can be prevented by periodically driving long distances continuously
with intermittent releasing of the accelerator pedal, such as when driving on
highways and freeways.
■ If the malfunction indicator lamp comes on or “Exhaust Filter Full Visit
Your Dealer” is shown on the multi-information display
The amount of accumulated particulate matter has exceeded a certain level.
Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota autho-
rized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
: If equipped
The GPF system collects particulate matter in the exhaust gas
by using an exhaust gas filter.
The system will operate to regenerate the filter automatically,
depending on the vehicle conditions.
NOTICE
■ To prevent the GPF system from not operating properly
● Do not use fuel other than the specified type
● Do not modify the exhaust pipes
