Ignition Switch
▼Push Button Start Positions
The system operates only when the key
is within operational range.
Each time the push button start is
pressed, the ignition switches in the
order of
off, ACC, and ON. Pressing
the push button start again from ON
switches the ignition off.

NOTE
The engine starts by pressing the
push button start while depressing
the brake pedal. To switch the
ignition position, press the push
button start without depressing the
pedal.
Do not leave the ignition switched
ON while the engine is not running.
Doing so could result in the battery
going dead. If the selector lever is in
the P position, and the ignition is in
ACC, the ignition switches off
automatically after about 25
minutes.
Off
The power supply to electrical devices
turns off and the indicator light
(amber) also turns off.
WARNING
Before leaving the driver's seat,
always switch the ignition off, set the
parking brake, and make sure the
selector lever is in P position:
Leaving the driver's seat without
switching the ignition off, setting the
parking brake, and shifting the selector
lever to P position is dangerous.
Unexpected vehicle movement could
occur which could result in an
accident.
In addition, if your intention is to leave
the vehicle for even a short period, it is
important to switch the ignition off, as
leaving it in another position will
disable some of the vehicle's security
systems and run the battery down.
ACC (Accessory)
Some electrical accessories will
operate and the indicator light (amber)
illuminates.
NOTE
The keyless entry system does not
function while the push button start
has been pressed to ACC, and the
doors will not lock/unlock even if they
have been locked manually.
ON
This is the normal running position
after the engine is started. The
indicator light (amber) turns off. (The
indicator light (amber) illuminates
when the ignition is switched ON and
the engine is not running.)
Some indicator lights/warning lights
should be inspected before the engine
is started.

(When the vehicle is stopped by the
MRCC with Stop & Go function/TJA
stop hold control)
1. When the vehicle is stopped by theMRCC with Stop & Go function/
TJA, engine idling stops and
continues to be stopped without
depressing the brake pedal.
2. When the accelerator pedal is depressed or the RES switch is
operated, while the vehicle is
stopped by the MRCC with Stop &
Go function/TJA, the engine will
automatically restart if the selector
lever is in the D/M position (not in
second gear fixed mode).
(When the vehicle is stopped by the
AUTOHOLD function)
1. When the brake pedal is depressed while the vehicle is being driven
and the vehicle comes to a stop,
the i-stop function will operate and
continue to operate even if the
brake is released (except when
driving in the R or M position
second gear fixed mode).
2. The engine restarts automatically when the accelerator pedal is
depressed with the selector lever in
the D/M position (not in second
gear fixed mode).
3. If the selector lever is in the N or P position, the engine does not
restart when the brake pedal is
released. The engine restarts when
the brake pedal is depressed again
or the selector lever is shifted to the
D, M (not in second gear fixed
mode) or the R position. (For the
purposes of safety, always keep the
brake pedal depressed when
shifting the selector lever while
engine idling is stopped.)(When using MRCC with Stop & Go
function/TJA)
1. Engine idling stops when thevehicle has decelerated to about 20
km/h (12 mph) or slower while in
headway control using the MRCC
with Stop & Go function/TJA.
2. If it is necessary to accelerate while in headway control using the MRCC
with Stop & Go function/TJA, the
engine restarts automatically.
Operation conditions
Under the following conditions, engine
idling stops and the i-stop indicator
light (green) turns on.
The engine has been started and the
vehicle is driven for a certain period.
The engine is started with the hood
closed.
All doors, liftgate, and hood are
closed.
The driver's seat belt is unfastened
and the driver's door is opened.
The hood is opened.The air conditioner is not operating
with the airflow mode in the
position.The temperature setting dial of the
air conditioner is in a position other
than maximum heating or maximum
cooling (A/C ON) position.
(Automatic climate control system)
The vehicle's interior temperature
and the set temperature for the air
conditioner are nearly the same.
The i-stop warning light (amber) is
not turned on/flashing.
The keyless entry & push button start
system functions are normal.
The brake vacuum is sufficiently high.The battery is in good condition.

NOTE
A mobile device larger than the
charging area cannot be charged. In
addition, even if the mobile device is
in the charging area, the chargingefficiency may decrease or charging
may not be possible depending on
where the mobile device is placed.
If the function to reduce noise on the
radio is used, fast charging may be
disabled depending on the mobile
device being charged.
Depending on the mobile device
case or accessories used, the mobile
device may not charge, or the
charging efficiency may be reduced
resulting in a longer charging time. If
charging does not start even when a
mobile device is placed on the
charging area, remove the mobile
device case or any accessories.
While the keyless entry is operating,
charging may stop temporarily,
however, this does not indicate a
problem.
During charging , the Wireless
Charger (Qi) and the mobile device
become warm, however, this does
not indicate a problem.
If the mobile device temperature
rises during charging , charging may
stop due to the protection function
of the device. If that happens, wait
until the mobile device cools down
sufficiently and then recharge it.
When using the Wireless Charger
(Qi), applications using the Near
Field Communication (NFC) function
may activate, but this does not
indicate a problem with the Wireless
Charger (Qi).
(Vehicles with i-stop)
While i-stop is operating, charge
amount may be temporarily
restricted and charging may be
temporarily canceled, however, this
does not indicate a problem.

▼Tire Pressure Monitoring System
(TPMS) Warning Indication/
Warning Light (Flashing)
If there is a problem with the TPMS or
the voltage of a tire pressure sensor
decreases, the TPMS warning light
flashes and a message is displayed on
the multi-information display. Have
your vehicle inspected by an
Authorized Mazda Dealer.
WARNING
Do not drive the vehicle at high
speeds if the TPMS warning light turns
on or flashes:
Driving the vehicle at high speeds
while the TPMS warning light is turned
on or flashing is dangerous because
the brake performance and the
steering wheel operability will be
reduced. If the vehicle is driven at high
speeds or the brakes are suddenly
applied, it could lead to an accident.
Gradually apply the brakes to lower the
vehicle's speed.
Do not ignore the TPMS warning light
when it is turned on or flashing:
Continuing to drive the vehicle while
ignoring the illumi
nation/flashing of
the TPMS warning light is dangerous
because a tire may burst which could
lead to an accident. Take appropriate
measures as soon as possible.

“Keyless Entry System Malfunction.
Have the Vehicle Inspected” is
displayed
This message is displayed if the
advanced keyless entry & push button
start system has a problem.
Contact an Authorized Mazda Dealer.
CAUTION
If the message is indicated, or the push
button start indicator light (amber)
flashes, the engine may not start. If the
engine cannot be started, try starting it
using the emergency operation for
starting the engine, and have the
vehicle inspected at an Authorized
Mazda Dealer as soon as possible.
Refer to Emergency Operation for
Starting the Engine on page 4-9.
“Key Not Detected” is displayed
If the presence of the key cannot be
detected (dead battery, battery
malfunction, no key), it is displayed
when the driver attempts to start the
engine (push button start operation,
brake pedal depression).
Displayed when it is determined that
a key that was in the vehicle has
been removed from the vehicle. (Key
taken out warning. Other than
IG-OFF).

NOTE
Placing heavy items on the front
passenger's seat may cause the front
passenger's seat belt warning
function to operate depending on
the weight of the item.
To allow the front passenger seat
weight sensor to function properly,
do not place and sit on an additional
seat cushion on the front passenger's
seat. The sensor may not function
properly because the additional seat
cushion could cause sensor
interference.
If a small child is seated on the front
passenger's seat, the warning beep
may not operate.
Rear seat
The warning beep only sounds if a seat
belt is unfastened after being fastened.

If the driver's door is opened with the
ignition switched to ACC, a beep will
be heard continuously in the cabin to
notify the driver that the ignition has
not been switched OFF (STOP). Under
this condition, the keyless entry system
will not operate, the vehicle cannot be
locked, and the battery voltage will be
depleted.

Vehicles with advanced keyless
function
If the key is taken out of the vehicle
while the ignition is switched to ACC
or ON, and all the doors are closed, a
sound is activated 6 times outside of
the vehicle and a sound is activated 1
time in the vehicle.
Vehicles without advanced keyless
function
If the key is taken out of the vehicle
while the ignition is switched to ACC
or ON, and all the doors are closed, a
sound is activated 1 time in the
vehicle.
NOTE
Make sure that you leave the vehicle
while carrying the key, or switch the
ignition OFF.
▼Touch Sensor Inoperable Warning
Beep (With the advanced keyless
function)
A warning beep is activated to notify
the driver that the doors are not locked
when all of the following conditions
are met:
The ignition is switched OFF.All the doors and liftgate are not fully
closed.
The lock is operated 3 times within 5
seconds.
Check the ignition and whether the
doors and liftgate are open or closed,
and then operate the lock again.

Inoperable Warning Beep (With
the advanced keyless function)
When the door-lock switch on the
liftgate is pressed under any of the
following conditions, a warning sound
is activated.
The ignition is switched to a position
other than OFF.
Any door is open.Liftgate is automatically operating.*
Make sure that none of the above
conditions are present, and then press
the door-lock switch again.
