SENSITIVE LOCKING MODE
WHAT IS SENSITIVE LOCKING MODE
Sensitive locking mode is a seatbelt retractorfeature that allows shoulder belt lengthadjustment according to your movementsand locking in response to vehiclemovement.
HOW DOES SENSITIVE LOCKINGMODE WORK
If the driver suddenly brakes, turns a cornersharply, or the vehicle receives an impact ofabout 5 mph (8 km/h) or more, the seatbeltslock to help reduce forward movement ofthe driver and passengers.
In addition, the seatbelt retractor locks if youpull the seatbelt webbing out too quickly. Ifthe retractor locks, slowly lower the heightadjuster to allow the seatbelt to retract.
If the retractor does not unlock, pull theseatbelt out slowly then feed a small lengthof webbing back toward the stowed position.
For rear seatbelts, recline the rear seatbackrest or push the seat backrest cushionaway from the seatbelt. Feed a small lengthof webbing back toward the stowed position.

SEATBELT REMINDER
HOW DOES THE SEATBELT REMINDERWORK
This feature supplements the seatbeltwarning function by providing additionalreminders that intermittently sound a toneand illuminate the seatbelt warning lampwhen you are in the driver seat or you havea front seat passenger and a seatbelt isunbuckled.
The system uses information from the frontpassenger sensing system to determine if afront seat passenger is present and thereforepotentially in need of a warning. To avoidthe system switching on the Belt-Minderfeature for objects you place on the frontpassenger seat, only the front seatpassengers receive warnings as determinedby the front passenger sensing system.
If the Belt-Minder warnings expire (warningsfor about five minutes) for one passenger(driver or front passenger), the otherpassenger can still cause the Belt-Minderfeature to switch on.

CHECKING THE SEATBELTS
Check the seatbelts and child restraintsperiodically to make sure they work properlyand are not damaged. Make sure there areno nicks, tears or cuts. Replace if necessary.
Check the following seatbelt assemblies aftera crash.
•Retractors.
•Buckles.
•Front seatbelt buckle assemblies.
•Shoulder belt height adjusters.
•Shoulder belt guide on seat backrest.
•Child restraint LATCH and tether anchors.
•Attaching hardware.
Read the child restraint manufacturer'sinstructions for additional inspection andmaintenance information specific to the childrestraint.
We recommend that all seatbelt assembliesin use in vehicles involved in a crash bereplaced. However, if the crash was minorand an authorized dealer finds that the beltsdo not show damage and continue tooperate properly, they do not need to bereplaced. Seatbelt assemblies not in useduring a crash should also be checked andreplaced if either damage or improperoperation is noted.
Properly care for seatbelts. See CleaningSeatbelts (page 370).

Battery Management System
The battery management system monitorsbattery conditions and takes actions toextend battery life. If excessive battery drainis detected, the system temporarily disablessome of the following features:
•Heated rear window.
•Heated seats.
•Climate control.
•Heated steering wheel.
•Audio unit.
•Navigation system.
A message may appear in the informationdisplay to alert you that battery protectionactions are active.
After battery replacement, or in some casesafter charging the battery with an externalcharger, the battery management systemrequires eight hours of vehicle sleep time torelearn the battery state of charge. Duringthis time your vehicle must remain fullylocked with the ignition off.
Note:If you add electrical accessories orcomponents to the vehicle, it may adverselyaffect battery performance and durability. This may also affect the performance ofother electrical systems in the vehicle.
Battery Disposal
Make sure that you dispose of oldbatteries in an environmentallyfriendly way. Seek advice fromyour local authority about recycling oldbatteries.
