DO NOT Grab The Door Handle When Locking

NOTE:
After pushing the door handle button, the driver
must wait three seconds before locking or
unlocking the doors, using any Passive Entry
door handle. This is done to allow the driver to
check if the vehicle is locked by pulling the door
handle without the vehicle unlocking.
If Passive Entry is disabled using the Uconnect
system, the key fob protection described in
“Preventing Inadvertent Locking Of Passive
Entry Key Fob In Vehicle” remains active/func -
tional.
The Passive Entry system will not operate if the
key fob battery is depleted Ú page 432.
AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS —
I
F EQUIPPED
The Automatic Door Lock feature default condition
is enabled. When enabled, the door locks will lock
automatically when the vehicle's speed exceeds
15 mph (24 km/h). The Automatic Door Lock
feature can be enabled or disabled by an
authorized dealer per written request of the
customer. Please see an authorized dealer for
service.
CHILD-PROTECTION DOOR LOCK
S
YSTEM — REAR DOORS
To provide a safer environment for small children
riding in the rear seats, the rear doors are
equipped with a Child-Protection Door Lock
system.
To use the system, open each rear door,
temporarily remove the sealing plug for access,
and use a flat blade screwdriver (or mechanical
key) to rotate the dial to the lock or unlock position.

NOTE:
When the Child-Protection Door Lock system is
engaged, the door can be opened only by using
the outside door handle, even though the inside
door lock is in the unlocked position.
After disengaging the Child-Protection Door
Lock system, always test the door from the
inside to make certain it is in the unlocked posi
-
tion.
After engaging the Child-Protection Door Lock
system, always test the door from the inside to
make certain it is in the locked position.
For emergency exit with the system engaged,
move the lock lever rearward (located on the
door trim panel), lower the window and open the
door with the outside door handle.

POWER OUTLETS
There is a 12 Volt (13 A) auxiliary power outlet that
can provide power for accessories designed for
use with the standard power outlet adapters.
The front power outlet is located in the center of
the instrument panel below the climate controls,
and is powered from the ignition switch. Power is
available when the ignition switch is in the ACC or
ON/RUN position.

Any modifications or alterations to this vehicle
could seriously affect its roadworthiness and
safety and may lead to a collision resulting in
serious injury or death.
WARNING!
There is danger of explosion if battery is
incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same
or equivalent type. If the battery or battery pack
is exposed to excessive heat or fire, personal
injury may occur.
CAUTION!
Always remove the key fobs from the vehicle
and lock all doors when leaving the vehicle
unattended to prevent theft and/or damage.
Always remember to cycle the ignition to OFF
to prevent battery drainage.
WARNING!
To avoid serious injury or death:
Do not insert any objects into the receptacles.
Do not touch with wet hands.
Close the lid when not in use.
If this outlet is mishandled, it may cause an
electric shock and failure.

2. Press and hold the brake pedal while pushing
the ENGINE START/STOP button once.
3. If the engine fails to start within 10 seconds, place the ignition in the OFF position, wait
10 to 15 seconds to allow the starter to cool,
then repeat the “Extended Park Starting”
procedure.
4. If the engine fails to start after eight attempts, allow the starter to cool for at least
10 minutes, then repeat the procedure.
IF ENGINE FAILS TO START
If the engine fails to start after you have followed
the “Normal Starting” procedure and the vehicle
has not experienced an extended park condition
as defined previously, it may be flooded. Push the
accelerator pedal all the way to the floor and hold
it there. Crank the engine for no more than 10
seconds. This should clear any excess fuel in case
the engine is flooded. Leave the ignition key in the
ON/ RUN position, release the accelerator pedal
and repeat the “Normal Starting” procedure.
AFTER STARTING
The idle speed is controlled automatically and will
decrease as the engine warms up.
STARTING THE ENGINE — DIESEL ENGINE
(IF EQUIPPED)
Before starting your vehicle, adjust your seat, both
inside and outside mirrors, and fasten your seat
belts.
The starter is allowed to crank for up to 25-second
intervals. Waiting two minutes between such
intervals will protect the starter from overheating.
CAUTION!
To prevent damage to the starter, do not crank
continuously for more than 10 seconds at a
time. Wait 10 to 15 seconds before trying again.
WARNING!
Never pour fuel or other flammable liquid into
the throttle body air inlet opening in an
attempt to start the vehicle. This could result
in flash fire causing serious personal injury.
Do not attempt to push or tow your vehicle to
get it started. Vehicles equipped with an auto -
matic transmission cannot be started this
way. Unburned fuel could enter the catalytic
converter and once the engine has started,
ignite and damage the converter and vehicle.
If the vehicle has a discharged battery,
booster cables may be used to obtain a start
from a booster battery or the battery in
another vehicle. This type of start can be
dangerous if done improperly Ú page 343.
CAUTION!
To prevent damage to the starter, do not
continuously crank the engine for more than
10 seconds at a time. Wait 10 to 15 seconds
before trying again.
WARNING!
Before exiting a vehicle, always come to a
complete stop, then shift the automatic trans -
mission into PARK and apply the parking
brake.
Always make sure the keyless ignition node is
in the OFF position, key fob is removed from
the vehicle and vehicle is locked.
Never leave children alone in a vehicle, or with
access to an unlocked vehicle. Leaving chil -
dren in a vehicle unattended is dangerous for
a number of reasons. A child or others could
be seriously or fatally injured. Children should
be warned not to touch the parking brake,
brake pedal or the gear selector.

Proper towing or lifting equipment is required to
prevent damage to your vehicle. Use only tow bars
and other equipment designed for this purpose,
following equipment manufacturer’s instructions.
Use of safety chains is mandatory. Attach a tow bar
or other towing device to main structural members
of the vehicle, not to fascia/bumpers or associated
brackets. State and local laws regarding vehicles
under tow must be observed.
If you must use the accessories (wipers,
defrosters, etc.) while being towed, the ignition
must be in the ON/RUN position, not the ACC
position.
If the vehicle's battery is discharged, instructions
on shifting the automatic transmission out of
PARK (P) in order to move the vehicle Úpage 348.
FOUR–WHEEL DRIVE MODELS
FCA LLC US recommends towing with all wheels
OFF the ground. Acceptable methods are to tow
the vehicle on a flatbed or with one end of the
vehicle raised and the opposite end on a towing
dolly.
If flatbed equipment is not available and the
transfer case is operable, the vehicle may be
towed (in the forward direction, with ALL wheels on
the ground), IF the transfer case is in NEUTRAL (N)
and the transmission is in PARK (P) (for automatic
transmissions) or in gear ( NOT in NEUTRAL , for
manual transmissions) Ú page 205.
WITHOUT THE KEY FOB
Special care must be taken when the vehicle is
towed with the ignition in the OFF position. The only
approved method of towing without the key fob is
with a flatbed truck. Proper towing equipment is
necessary to prevent damage to the vehicle.
EMERGENCY TOW HOOKS —

F EQUIPPED
If your vehicle is equipped with tow hooks, they are
mounted in the front and the rear fascia/bumpers.

NOTE:Depending on vehicle trim level, rear tow hooks
may vary.
CAUTION!
Do not use sling type equipment when towing.
Vehicle damage may occur.
When securing the vehicle to a flatbed truck,
do not attach to front or rear suspension
components. Damage to your vehicle may
result from improper towing.
CAUTION!
Front or rear wheel lifts must not be used (if
the remaining wheels are on the ground).
Internal damage to the transmission or
transfer case will occur if a front or rear wheel
lift is used when towing.
Towing this vehicle in violation of the
approved requirements can cause severe
transmission and/or transfer case damage.
Damage from improper towing is not covered
under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
