Steering Assist Not Available Cannot
Detect Lane indicator
This indicator may appear when the Steering
Assist system is engaged. The Steering Assist
system is automatically canceled when the
lane markers in the traveling lane cannot be
correctly detected for a period of time due to
such items as a snow rut, reflection of light on
a rainy day or several unclear lane markers
are present.
If you want to use the Steering Assist system
again, cancel the ProPILOT Assist system
and set it again when lane markers are clearly
visible.
Steering Assist status
This indicator appears when the Steering As-
sist system is engaged.
For additional information, see “ProPILOT
Assist” (P. 5-84).
Unavailable: High Cabin Temperature
This message appears when the camera de-
tects an interior temperature of more than
104°F (40°C). For additional information,
see (if so equipped) “ProPILOT Assist”
(P. 5-84), “Lane Departure Prevention (LDP)”(P. 5-43), “Lane Departure Warning (LDW)”
(P. 5-36) or “Blind Spot Intervention® (BSI)”
(P. 5-61).
Unavailable Side Radar Obstruction
This message appears when the Blind Spot
Warning (BSW) or Rear Cross Traffic Alert
(RCTA) systems become unavailable because
a radar blockage is detected. For additional
information, see (if so equipped) “Blind Spot
Warning (BSW)” (P. 5-49), “Blind Spot Inter-
vention (BSI)” (P. 5-61) or “Rear Cross Traffic
Alert (RCTA)” (P. 5-72).
Vehicle ahead detection
indicator
This indicator shows when the following sys-
tems are engaged and have detected a ve-
hicle:
• Forward Emergency Braking (FEB) with
Pedestrian Detection
• Predictive Forward Collision Warning (PFCW)
For additional information, see “Forward
Emergency Braking (FEB) with Pedestrian
Detection” (P. 5-128) or “Predictive Forward
Collision Warning (PFCW)” (P. 5-140). Your vehicle has two types of security
systems:
• Vehicle security system
• INFINITI Vehicle Immobilizer System
VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
The vehicle security system provides visual
and audible alarm signals if someone opens
the doors, liftgate or hood when the system is
armed. It is not, however, a motion detection
type system that activates when a vehicle is
moved or when a vibration occurs.

SECURITY SYSTEMS
Instruments and controls2-71
The system helps deter vehicle theft but can-
not prevent it nor can it prevent the theft of
interior or exterior vehicle components in all
situations. Always secure your vehicle even if
parking for a brief period. Never leave your
Intelligent Key in the vehicle, and always lock
the vehicle when unattended. Be aware of
your surroundings, and park in secure, well-lit
areas whenever possible.
Many devices offering additional protection,
such as component locks, identification
markers, and tracking systems, are available
at auto supply stores and specialty shops. An
INFINITI retailer may also offer such equip-
ment. Check with your insurance company to
see if you may be eligible for discounts for
various theft protection features.
How to arm the vehicle security
system
1. Close all windows and the moonroof.(The
system can be armed even if the windows
and moonroof are open.)
2. Remove the Intelligent Key from the vehicle.
3. Close all doors, hood and liftgate. Lock all doors. The doors can be locked with the
Intelligent Key, door handle request
switch, or power door lock switch. 4. Wait 30 seconds for the system to com-
plete the pre-armed phase. If during the
pre-armed phase one of the following oc-
curs, the system will not arm:
• Any door is unlocked with the Intelligent Key or door request switch.
• Ignition switch is placed in ON position.
• Even when the driver and/or passengers
are in the vehicle, the system will activate
with all the doors, hood and liftgate locked
with the ignition switch placed in the
LOCK position. When placing the ignition
switch in the ON position, the system will
be released.
Vehicle security system activation
The vehicle security system will give the fol-
lowing alarm:
• The turn signals blink and the horn sounds intermittently.
• The alarm automatically turns off after a period of time. However, the alarm reacti-
vates if the vehicle is tampered with again.
The alarm can be shut off by pressing the
button on the Intelligent Key. The alarm is activated by:
• Opening the door or liftgate without using
the Intelligent Key (even if the door is un-
locked by releasing the door inside lock
switch).
How to stop an activated alarm
The alarm stops only by unlocking the driver’s
door or the liftgate by pressing the
button on the Intelligent Key or pushing the
request switch on the driver's or passenger's
door with the Intelligent Key in range of the
door handle.
INFINITI VEHICLE IMMOBILIZER
SYSTEM
The INFINITI Vehicle Immobilizer System will
not allow the engine to start without the use
of a registered INFINITI Vehicle Immobilizer
System key.
If the engine fails to start using a registered
INFINITI Vehicle Immobilizer System key (for
example, when interference is caused by an-
other INFINITI Vehicle Immobilizer System
key, an automated toll road device or auto-
matic payment device on the key ring), restart
the engine using the following procedures:
1. Leave the ignition switch in the ON posi- tion for approximately 5 seconds.
2-72Instruments and controls
Locking doors
1. Push the P (Park) button, place the igni-tion switch in the LOCK position and make
sure you carry the Intelligent Key with you.
2. Close all doors
3. Push any door handle lock sensor while carrying the Intelligent Key with you.
4. All doors and the rear liftgate will lock.
5. The hazard warning lights flash twice and the outside chime sounds once.
NOTE:
•Lock sensors for all doors and liftgate can be
deactivated when the Ext. Door Switch fea-
ture is switched to OFF using the “Vehicle
Settings” menu on the vehicle information
display. For additional information, see
“Vehicle information display 7 inch (18 cm)
Type A” (P. 2-22) or “Vehicle information
display 12.3 inch (21 cm) Type B” (P. 2-44).
• Doors do not lock with the door handlelock sensor while the ignition switch is not
in the LOCK position.
• Doors do not lock by pushing the door handle lock sensor while the driver’s door
is open. • Doors do not lock with the door handle
lock sensor with the Intelligent Key inside
the vehicle and a beep sounds to warn you.
However, when an Intelligent Key is inside
the vehicle, doors can be locked with an-
other Intelligent Key.
• The lock sensor may not react immediately when the door handle is wet from rain, etc.
Keep touching the lock senor until the
doors lock, or touch the lock sensor after
grasping the door handle.
• Touching the door lock sensor while wear- ing gloves may delay or prevent lock op-
eration. Remove the gloves and touch the
lock sensor again.
• If the door handle becomes wet while the electronic key is within the effective
range, the door may lock and unlock re-
peatedly. In this case, follow the following
correction procedures to wash the vehicle:
– Place the electronic key in a location 6 ft. (2 m) or more away from the ve-
hicle. (Take care to ensure that the key is
not stolen.)
– If the electronic key is inside the vehicle and a door handle becomes wet during a
car wash, a buzzer will sound outside
the vehicle. To turn off the alarm, re-
move the key from the inside vehicle.

3-10Pre-driving checks and adjustments
When thebutton is pressed during the
open or close process, the liftgate motors will
stop. When the
button is pressed again
for longer than 1 second the liftgate will re-
verse direction.
Using the panic alarm
If you are near your vehicle and feel threat-
ened, you may activate the panic alarm to call
attention by pressing and holding the
button on the Intelligent Key for longer than
0.5 seconds.
The panic alarm and headlights will stay on
for a period of time.
The panic alarm stops when:
• It has run for a period of time, or
• Any button is pressed on the Intelligent Key.
• The lock sensor is touched and the Intelli- gent Key is in range of the door handle.
Answer back horn feature
If desired, the answer back horn feature can
be deactivated using the Intelligent Key.
When it is deactivated and the
button
is pressed, the hazard indicator lights flash twice. When the
button is pressed, nei-
ther the hazard indicator lights nor the horn
operates.
NOTE:
If you change the answer back horn fea-
ture with the Intelligent Key, the vehicle
information display screen will show the
current mode after the ignition switch
has been cycled from the OFF to the ON
position. The vehicle information display
screen can also be used to change the an-
swer back horn mode.
For additional information, see “Vehicle
information display 7 inch (18 cm) Type A”
(P. 2-22) or “Vehicle information display
12.3 inch (21 cm) Type B” (P. 2-44).
To deactivate:
Press and hold theandbuttons
for at least 5 seconds. The hazard indicator
lights will flash three times to confirm that the
answer back horn feature has been
deactivated.
To activate:
Press and hold the
andbuttons
for at least 5 seconds once more. The hazard
indicator lights will flash once and the horn
will sound once to confirm that the horn beep
feature has been reactivated. Deactivating the horn beep feature does not
silence the horn if the alarm is triggered.
WARNING SIGNALS
To help prevent the vehicle from moving un-
expectedly by erroneous operation of the In-
telligent Key or to help prevent the vehicle
from being stolen, a chime or buzzer sounds
from inside and outside the vehicle and a
warning is displayed in the instrument panel.
When a chime or beep sounds or a warning is
displayed, be sure to check the vehicle and
the Intelligent Key.
For additional information, see “Trouble-
shooting guide” (P. 3-16), “Vehicle informa-
tion display 7 inch (18 cm) Type A” (P. 2-22) or
“Vehicle information display 12.3 inch (21 cm)
Type B” (P. 2-44).
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE
Verify the location of all Intelligent Keys that
are programmed for the vehicle. If another
Intelligent Key is in range or inside the vehicle,
the vehicle system may respond differently
than expected.
3-16Pre-driving checks and adjustments
• The alarm sounds due to illegal entry intothe vehicle.
• Pushing the ignition switch without the In- telligent Key in the vehicle.
• Not pressing the brake pedal while pressing the ignition switch with the Intelligent Key
in the vehicle.
CONDITIONS THE REMOTE
ENGINE START WILL NOT WORK
The Remote Engine Start will not operate if
any of the following conditions are present:
• The ignition switch is placed in the ONposition.
• The hood is not securely closed.
• The hazard indicator lights are on.
• The engine is still running. The engine must be completely stopped. Wait at least 6 sec-
onds if the engine goes from running to off.
This is not applicable when extending en-
gine run time.
• The
button is not pressed and held for
at least 2 seconds.
• The
button is not pressed and held
within 5 seconds of pressing the lock
button.
• The brake is pressed.
• The doors are not closed and locked. • The liftgate is open.
• The I–Key System Error warning message
appears in the vehicle information display.
• The alarm sounds due to illegal entry into the vehicle.
• Two Remote Engine Starts, or a single Re- mote Engine Start with an extension, have
already been used.
• The vehicle is not in P (Park).
• There is a detected registered key already inside of the vehicle.
The Remote Engine Start may display a
warning or indicator in the vehicle informa-
tion display. For additional information, see
“Vehicle information display 7 inch (18 cm)
Type A” (P. 2-22) or “Vehicle information dis-
play 12.3 inch (21 cm) Type B” (P. 2-44).
3-20Pre-driving checks and adjustments
If your vehicle sustains damage to the bum-
per fascia, leaving it misaligned or bent, the
sensing zone may be altered causing inaccu-
rate measurement of obstacles or false
alarms.
CAUTION
• Excessive noise (such as audio system
volume or an open vehicle window) will
interfere with the tone and it may not be
heard.
• Keep the sonar sensors (located on the
bumper fascias) free from snow, ice and
large accumulations of dirt. Do not clean
the sensors with sharp objects. If the
sensors are covered, the accuracy of the
sonar function will be diminished.
SYSTEM OPERATION
1Center sonar sensors
2Corner sonar sensors
The system informs with a visual and audible
alert of:
• front obstacles when the shift lever is in the D (Drive) position
• front and rear obstacles when the shift le- ver is in the R (Reverse) position How the system alerts of obstacles:
The system is deactivated at speeds above 6
mph (10 km/h). It is reactivated at lower
speeds.
The intermittent tone will stop after several
seconds when the obstacle is identified only
with the center sensor. The tone will stop
when the obstacle gets away from the
vehicle.
When the object is detected, the indicator
(green) appears and blinks and the tone
sounds intermittently. When the vehicle
moves closer to the object, the color of the
indicator turns yellow and the rate of the
blinking increases. When the vehicle is very
close to the object, the indicator stops blink-
ing and turns red, and the tone sounds
continuously.
