cable and winch through the center of the

NOTE:Fully lower the spare tire below the vehicle
before attempting to remove the winch from
the spare tire.
9. After removing the spare tire from underthe vehicle, be sure to crank the cable up
by rotating the winch socket clockwise to
stow it.

CAUTION
• Make sure safety cable is coiled above
spare tire when reinstalling spare
tire/wheel.
• When re-installing the spare tire under
the vehicle after use, be sure to secure it
with the tire stem facing down toward
the ground. If the spare tire is improperly
secured with the stem facing up towards
the bottom of the vehicle, there is an in-
creased risk of separating from the ve-
hicle in the event of a crash which may
pose a hazard in traffic or risk of injury to
others.

3. Install the assembled jack rod into the jackas shown.
4. To lift the vehicle, securely hold the jack lever and rod. Carefully raise the vehicle
until the tire clears the ground.
NOTE:
If the lug nut wrench/jack handle contacts
the ground while raising the vehicle, disas-
semble the lug nut wrench from the jack ex-
tension rod, rotate it 90 degrees and
reassemble.
5. Remove the wheel nuts and then removethe tire.
Installing the spare tire
The spare tire is designed for emergency use.
For additional information, see “Wheels and
tires” (P. 8-28).
1. Clean any mud or dirt from the surfacebetween the wheel and hub.
2. Carefully put the spare tire on and tighten the wheel nuts finger tight.
3. With the wheel nut wrench, tighten wheel nuts alternately and evenly in the se-
quence illustrated (
OA,OB,OC,OD,OE)
until they are tight.

4. Lower the vehicle slowly until the tiretouches the ground. Then, with the wheel
nut wrench, tighten the wheel nuts se-
curely in the sequence illustrated (
OA,OB,
OC,OD,OE). Lower the vehicle completely.
WARNING
• Incorrect wheel nuts or improperly tight-
ened wheel nuts can cause the wheel to
become loose or come off. This could
cause an accident.
• Do not use oil or grease on the wheel
studs or nuts. This could cause the nuts
to become loose.
• Retighten the wheel nuts when the ve-
hicle has been driven for 621 miles
(1,000 km) (also in cases of a flat tire,
etc.).
As soon as possible, tighten the wheel nuts
to the specified torque with a torque wrench.
Wheel nut tightening torque: 83 ft-lb (113 N·m) The wheel nuts must be kept tightened to
specification at all times. It is recommended
that wheel nuts be tightened to specifica-
tions at each lubrication interval.
Adjust tire pressure to the COLD pressure.
COLD pressure: After vehicle has been
parked for 3 hours or more or driven less
than 1 mile (1.6 km).
COLD tire pressures are shown on the Tire
and Loading Information label affixed to the
driver side center pillar.
5. Securely store the flat tire, tools and jack-
ing equipment in the vehicle.
6. Close the liftgate.
WARNING
• Always make sure that the spare tire and
jacking equipment are properly secured
after use. Such items can become dan-
gerous projectiles in an accident or sud-
den stop.
• The spare tire is designed for emergency
use. For additional information, see
“Wheels and tires” (P. 8-28). To start your engine with a booster battery,
the instructions and precautions below must
be followed.
WARNING
• If done incorrectly, jump starting can
lead to a battery explosion, resulting in
severe injury or death. It could also dam-
age your vehicle.
• Explosive hydrogen gas is always pres-
ent in the vicinity of the battery. Keep all
sparks and flames away from the
battery.
• Do not allow battery fluid to come into
contact with eyes, skin, clothing or
painted surfaces. Battery fluid is a corro-
sive sulfuric acid solution which can
cause severe burns. If the fluid should
come into contact with anything, imme-
diately flush the contacted area with
water.
• Keep battery out of the reach of children.
• The booster battery must be rated at 12
volts. Use of an improperly rated battery
can damage your vehicle.

TIRE PRESSURE
Tire Pressure Monitoring System
(TPMS)
WARNING
Radio waves could adversely affect
electric medical equipment. Those
who use a pacemaker should contact
the electric medical equipment
manufacturer for the possible influ-
ences before use.
This vehicle is equipped with the Tire
Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
It monitors tire pressure of all tires
except the spare. When the low tire
pressure warning light is lit and the
“Tire Pressure Low – Add Air” warning
appears in the vehicle information dis-
play, one or more of your tires is sig-
nificantly under-inflated. If equipped,
the system also displays pressure of all tires (except the spare tire) on the dis-
play screen by sending a signal from a
sensor that is installed in each wheel.
The TPMS will activate only when the
vehicle is driven at speeds above 16
mph (25 km/h). Also, this system may
not detect a sudden drop in tire pres-
sure (for example a flat tire while
driving).

Tire inflation pressure
Check the tire pressures (including the
spare) often and always prior to long
distance trips. The recommended tire
pressure specifications are shown on
the F.M.V.S.S./C.M.V.S.S. certifica-
tion label or the Tire and Loading In-
formation label under the “Cold Tire
Pressure” heading. The Tire and Load-
ing Information label is affixed to thedriver side center pillar. Tire pressures
should be checked regularly because:
• Most tires naturally lose air over
time.
• Tires can lose air suddenly when driven over potholes or other objects
or if the vehicle strikes a curb while
parking.
The tire pressures should be checked
when the tires are cold. The tires are
considered COLD after the vehicle has
been parked for 3 or more hours, or
driven less than 1 mile (1.6 km) at mod-
erate speeds.
TPMS with Tire Inflation Indicator
provides visual and audible signals
outside the vehicle for inflating the
tires to the recommended COLD tire
pressure. For additional information,
see “TPMS with Tire Inflation Indica-
tor” (P. 5-7).

2. Press the pressure gauge squarelyonto the valve stem. Do not press
too hard or force the valve stem
sideways, or air will escape. If the
hissing sound of air escaping from
the tire is heard while checking the
pressure, reposition the gauge to
eliminate this leakage.
3. Remove the gauge.
4. Read the tire pressure on the gauge stem and compare to the
specification shown on the Tire
and Loading Information label. 5. Add air to the tire as needed. If too
much air is added, press the core of
the valve stem briefly with the tip
of the gauge stem to release pres-
sure. Recheck the pressure and add
or release air as needed.
6. Install the valve stem cap.
7. Check the pressure of all other tires, including the spare. 8. Check the pressure when driving
the vehicle at speeds of 100 mph
(160 km/h) or higher where it is
legal to do so.

Other Tire-related Terminology
In addition to the many terms that are
defined throughout this section, In-
tended Outboard Sidewall is (1) the
sidewall that contains a whitewall,
bears white lettering or bears manu-
facturer, brand, and/or model name
molding that is higher or deeper than
the same molding on the other side-
wall of the tire, or (2) the outward
facing sidewall of an asymmetrical tire
that has a particular side that must
always face outward when mounted
on a vehicle.
TYPES OF TIRES
WARNING
• When changing or replacing tires, be sure
all four tires are of the same type (i.e.,
Summer, All Season or Snow) and con-
struction. An INFINITI retailer may be
able to help you with information about
tire type, size, speed rating and
availability.
• Replacement tires may have a lower
speed rating than the factory equipped
tires, and may not match the potential
maximum vehicle speed. Never exceed
the maximum speed rating of the tire.
• Replacing tires with those not originally
specified by INFINITI could affect the
proper operation of the low tire pressure
warning system.
• Always use tires of the same type, size,
brand, construction and tread pattern on
all four wheels. Failure to do so may re-
sult in a circumference difference be-
tween tires on the front and rear axles
which can cause the Vehicle Dynamic
Control (VDC) system to malfunction re-
sulting in personal injury or death, exces-
sive tire wear and may damage the
transmission, transfer case and differen-
tial gears. •

All-Wheel Drive (AWD) models
CAUTION
• Always use tires of the same size, brand,
construction (bias, bias-belted or radial),
and tread pattern on all four wheels.
Failure to do so may result in a circumfer-
ence difference between tires on the
front and rear axles which will cause ex-
cessive tire wear and may damage the
transmission and drivetrain parts.
• ONLY use spare tires specified for the
AWD model.
If excessive tire wear is found, it is recom-
mended that all four tires be replaced with
tires of the same size, brand, construction
and tread pattern. The tire pressure and
wheel alignment should also be checked and
corrected as necessary. It is recommended
that you visit an INFINITI retailer for this
service.
