LKA system will not be in the ENABLED
state and the steering wheel will not be
assisted when:

[ The turn signal is turned on be
fore
changing a lane. If you change
lanes without the turn signal on, the
steering wheel might be controlled.

[ The vehicle is not driven in the middle
of the lane when the system is turned
on or right after changing a lane.

[ ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is
activated.

[ The vehicle is driven on a sharp curve.

[ Vehicle speed is below 40 MPH (60
km/h) and over 110 MPH (180 km/h).

[ The vehicle makes sharp lane
changes.

[ The vehicle brakes suddenly.

[ Only one lane line is detected.

[ The lane is very wide or narrow.

[ There are more than two lane lines on
the road. (e.g. construction area)

[ The vehicle is driven on a steep
incline.
Limitations of the System
LKA system may operate prematurely
even if the vehicle does not depart
from the intended lane, OR, LKA system
may not warn you if the vehicle leaves
the intended lane under the following
circumstances:
When the lane and road conditions are
poor

[It is difficult to distinguish the lane
marking from the road surface or the
lane marking is faded or not clearly
marked.

[ There are markings on the road
surface that look like a lane line that
is inadvertently being detected by the
camera.

[ The lane line is merged or divided.
(e.g. tollgate)

[ The lane number increases or
decreases or the lane marker are
crossing complicatedly.

[ There are more than two lane lines on
the road in front of you.

[ The lane line is very thick or thin.

[ The lanes ahead are not visible due
to rain, snow, water on the road,
damaged or stained road surface, or
other factors.

[ The shadow is on the lane marker by a
median strip, trees, etc.

[ The lanes are incomplete or the area is
in a construction zone.

[ There are crosswalk signs or other
symbols on the road.

[ The lane line in a tunnel is stained with
oil, etc.

To Set Cruise Control Speed

1. Press the CRUISE button on the steering wheel to turn the system on.
The cruise indicator will illuminate.
2. Accelerate to the desired speed, which must be more than 20 MPH (30
km/h).

3. Push the toggle switch down (SET-), and release it.
4. Release the accelerator pedal.
Information
On a steep slope, the vehicle may slightly
slow down or speed up, while driving
uphill or downhill.
To Increase Cruise Control Speed

[ Push the toggle switch up (RES+)
and hold it, while monitoring the SET
speed on the instrument cluster.
The set speed will increase by 5 MPH
(8 km/h) increments.
Release the toggle switch when
the desired speed is shown and the
vehicle will accelerate to that speed.

[ Push the toggle switch up (RES+) and
release it immediately. The cruising
speed will increase 1.0 MPH (1.6
km/h) each time the toggle switch is
operated in this manner.

[ Depress the accelerator pedal. When
the vehicle attains the desired speed,
push the toggle switch down (SET-).
To Decrease Cruise Control Speed

[Push the toggle switch down (SET-)
and hold it.Your vehicle will gradually
slow down. Release the toggle switch
at the speed you want to maintain.

[ Push the toggle switch down (SET-)
and release it immediately. The
cruising speed will decrease 1.0 MPH
(1.6 km/h) each time the toggle switch
is operated in this manner.

[ Lightly tap the brake pedal. When the
vehicle attains the desired speed, push
the toggle switch down (SET-).
To Temporarily Accelerate with the
Cruise Control ON
Depress the accelerator pedal. When you
take your foot off the accelerator, the
vehicle will return to the previously set
speed.
If you push the toggle switch down (SET-)
at the increased speed, the Cruise Control
will maintain the increased speed.
Cruise Control Will be Canceled
When:

[Depressing the brake pedal.

[ Pressing the CANCEL button located
on the steering wheel.

[ Pressing the CRUISE button. Both the
cruise indicator and the "SET" indicator
will turn OFF.

[ Moving the shift lever into N (Neutral).
(for automatic transmission/dual
clutch transmission vehicle)

[ Decreasing the vehicle speed to less
than approximately 20 MPH (30 km/h).

[ The ESC (Electronic Stability Control) is
operating.

[ Downshifting to the 2nd gear in
manual shift mode. (for intelligent variable transmission vehicle)
Information
Each of the above actions will cancel
Cruise Control operation (the "SET"
indicator in the instrument cluster will go
off), but only pressing the CRUISE button
will turn the system off. If you wish to
resume Cruise Control operation, push the
toggle switch up (RES+) located on your
steering wheel. You will return to your
previously preset speed, unless the system
was turned off using the CRUISE button.
To Resume Preset Cruising Speed

Push the toggle switch up (RES+). If the
vehicle speed is over 20 MPH (30 km/h),
the vehicle will resume the preset speed.
To Turn Cruise Control Off

Hazardous Driving Conditions
When hazardous driving elements
are encountered such as water, snow,
ice, mud and sand, take the below
suggestions:

[Drive cautiously and keep a longer
braking distance.

[ Avoid abrupt braking or steering.

[ When your vehicle is stuck in
snow, mud, or sand, use second
gear. Accelerate slowly to avoid
unnecessary wheel spin.

[ Put sand, rock salt, tire chains or other
non-slip materials under the wheels to
provide additional traction while the
vehicle becomes stuck in ice, snow,
or mud.
WARNING
Downshifting with an intelligent
variable transmission while driving on
slippery surfaces can cause an accident.
The sudden change in tire speed could
cause the tires to skid. Be careful when
downshifting on slippery surfaces.
Rocking the Vehicle
If it is necessary to rock the vehicle to
free it from snow, sand, or mud, first turn
the steering wheel right and left to clear
the area around your front wheels. Then,
shift back and forth between R (Reverse)
and a forward gear.
Try to avoid spinning the wheels, and do
not race the engine.
To prevent transmission wear, wait until
the wheels stop spinning before shifting
gears. Release the accelerator pedal
while shifting, and press lightly on the
accelerator pedal while the transmission
is in gear. Slowly spinning the wheels in
forward and reverse directions causes a
rocking motion that may free the vehicle.
WARNING
If the vehicle is stuck and excessive
wheel spin occurs, the temperature
of the tires can increase very quickly.
If the tires become damaged, a tire
blow out or tire explosion can occur.
This condition is dangerous - you and
others may be injured. Do not attempt
this procedure if people or objects are
anywhere near the vehicle.
If you attempt to free the vehicle, the
vehicle can overheat quickly, possibly
causing an engine compartment fire
or other damage. Try to avoid spinning
the wheels as much as possible to
prevent overheating of either the tires
or the engine. DO NOT allow the vehicle
to spin the wheels above 35 MPH (56
km/h).
Information
The ESC system must be turned OFF
before rocking the vehicle.
NOTICE
If you are still stuck after rocking the
vehicle a few times, have the vehicle
pulled out by a tow vehicle to avoid
engine overheating, possible damage to
the transmission, and tire damage. See
"Towing" in chapter 7.

Change to "winter Weight" Oil if
Necessary
In some climates it is recommended that
a lower viscosity "winter weight" oil be
used during cold weather. See chapter 8
for recommendations. If you aren't sure
what weight oil you should use, consult
an authorized HYUNDAI dealer.
Check Battery and Cables
Winter puts additional burdens on the
battery system. Visually inspect the
battery and cables as described in
chapter 8. The level of charge in your
battery can be checked by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer or a service station.
Check Spark Plugs and Ignition
System
Inspect your spark plugs as described in
chapter 8 and replace them if necessary.
Also check all ignition wiring and
components to be sure they are not
cracked, worn or damaged in any way.
Use Approved Window Washer Anti-
freeze in System
To keep the water in the window washer
system from freezing, add an approved
window washer anti-freeze solution in
accordance with instructions on the
container. Window washer anti-freeze is
available from an authorized HYUNDAI
dealer and most auto parts outlets. Do
not use engine coolant or other types
of antifreeze as these may damage the
paint finish.
Do Not Let Your Parking Brake
Freeze
Under some conditions your parking
brake can freeze in the engaged position.
This is most likely to happen when
there is an accumulation of snow or
ice around or near the rear brakes or
if the brakes are wet. If there is a risk
the parking brake may freeze, apply
it only temporarily while you put the
gear selector lever in P and block the
rear wheels so the car cannot roll. Then
release the parking brake.
Do Not Let Ice and Snow Accumulate
Underneath
Under some conditions, snow and ice
can build up under the fenders and
interfere with the steering. When driving
in severe winter conditions where this
may happen, you should periodically
check underneath the car to be sure the
movement of the front wheels and the
steering components is not obstructed.
Don't Place Foreign Objects
or Materials in the Engine
Compartment
Placement of foreign object or materials
which prevent cooling of the engine, in
the engine compartment, may cause a
failure or combustion. The manufacturer
is not responsible for the damage caused
by such placement.
To Keep Locks from Freezing
To keep the locks from freezing, squirt
an approved de-icer fluid or glycerine
into the key opening. If a lock is covered
with ice, squirt it with an approved de-
icing fluid to remove the ice. If the lock
is frozen internally, you may be able to
thaw it out by using a heated key. Handle
the heated key with care to avoid injury.

Emergency Towing

If towing is necessary, we recommend
you have it done by an authorized
HYUNDAI dealer or a commercial tow
truck service.
If towing service is not available in
an emergency, your vehicle may be
temporarily towed using a cable or chain
secured to the emergency towing hook
at the front (or rear) of the vehicle.
Use extreme caution when towing the
vehicle with a cable or chain. A driver
must be in the vehicle to steer it and
operate the brakes.
Towing in this manner may be done
only on hard-surfaced roads for a short
distance and at low speeds. Also, the
wheels, axles, power train, steering
and brakes must all be in good working
condition.
CAUTION
The driver must be in the vehicle for
steering and braking operations when
the vehicle is being towed. Passengers
other than the driver must not be in the
vehicle.
Always follow these emergency towing
precautions:

[Place the ignition switch in the ACC
position so the steering wheel is not
locked (if equipped).

[ Place the shift lever in N (Neutral).

[ Release the parking brake.

[ Depress the brake pedal with more
force than normal since you will have
reduced braking performance.

[ More steering effort will be required
because the power steering system
will be disabled.

[ Use a vehicle heavier than your own to
tow your vehicle.

[ The drivers of both vehicles should
communicate with each other
frequently.

[ Before emergency towing, check that
the hook is not broken or damaged.

[ Fasten the towing cable or chain
securely to the hook.

[ Do not jerk the hook. Apply steady
and even force.

Maintenance8-6
While Operating Your Vehicle:

[ Note any changes in the sound of the
exhaust or any smell of exhaust fumes
in the vehicle.

[ Check for vibrations in the steering
wheel. Notice if there is any increased
steering effort or looseness in the
steering wheel, or change in its
straight-ahead position.

[ Notice if your vehicle constantly turns
slightly or “pulls” to one side when
traveling on smooth, level road.

[ When stopping, listen and check for
unusual sounds, pulling to one side,
increased brake pedal travel or “hard-
to-push” brake pedal.

[ If any slipping or changes in the
operation of your transmission occurs,
check the transmission fluid level.

[ Check the intelligent variable
transmission P (Park) function.

[ Check the parking brake.

[ Check for fluid leaks under your
vehicle (water dripping from the air
conditioning system during or after
use is normal).
At Least Monthly:

[Check coolant level in the engine
coolant reservoir.

[ Check the operation of all exterior
lights, including the brake lights, turn
signals and hazard warning flashers.

[ Check the inflation pressures of all
tires including the spare for tires that
are worn, show uneven wear, or are
damaged.

[ Check for loose wheel lug nuts.
At Least Twice a Year:
(i.e., Every Spring And Autumn)

[Check radiator, heater and air
conditioning hoses for leaks or
damage.

[ Check windshield washer spray and
wiper operation. Clean wiper blades
with a clean cloth dampened with
washer a fluid.

[ Check headlamp alignment.

[ Check muffler, exhaust pipes, shields
and clamps.

[ Check the seat belts for wear and
function.
At Least Once a Year:

[Clean body and door drain holes.

[ Lubricate door hinges and hood
hinges.

[ Lubricate door and hood locks and
latches.

[ Lubricate door rubber weather strips.

[ Lubricate door checker.

[ Check the air conditioning system.

[ Inspect and lubricate automatic
transmission linkage and controls.

[ Clean the battery and terminals.

[ Check the brake fluid level.
