uuAirbags uFront Airbags (SRS)
Safe DrivingThe airbags have advanced features to help reduce the likelihood of airbag related
injuries to smaller occupants. The driver’s advanced airbag system includes a
seat position sensor.
Based on information from this sensor and the
severity of the impact, the advanced airbag
system determines the optimal deployment of
the driver's airbag.
■Advanced Airbags1 Advanced Airbags
If there is a problem with the driver's seat position
sensor or the passenger's s eat weight sensors, the
SRS indicator will come on, and in the event of a
crash, the airbag will deploy (regardless of the driver's
seating position or passenger's occupant
classification) with a force corresponding to the
severity of the impact. 2 Supplemental Restraint System (SRS)
Indicator P. 60
For the advanced front airbags to work properly,
confirm that:
•The occupant is sitting in an upright position,
wearing the seat belt prope rly and the seat-back is
not excessively reclined.
•The occupant is not leaning against the door or
center console.
•The occupant's feet are plac ed on the floor in front
of them.
•There are no objects ha nging from the front
passenger's seat.
•Only small, lightweight objects are in the seat-back
pocket.
•The steering wheel and passenger's side dashboard
are not obstructed by any object.
•No liquid has been spille d on or under the seat.•There is no child seat or other object pressing
against the rear of the seat or seat-back.
•There is no rear passenger pushing or pulling on
the back of the front passenger's seat.

Safe Driving■When the passenger airbag off
indicator comes on
The indicator comes on to alert you that the
passenger's airbag has be en turned off. This
occurs when the weight sensors determine
that a small child or infant is on the passenger
seat.
Children age 12 or under should always ride
properly restrained in a back seat.
2 Child Safety P. 64
Objects placed on the seat can also cause the
indicator to come on. If the indicator is on in
the event of a crash, the passenger's airbag
will not deploy.
If the passenger's seat is empty, the
passenger's airbag will not deploy and the
indicator will not come on.

To ensure the passenger is detected properly, confirm
that:
•The occupant is sitting in an upright position,
wearing the seat belt prope rly and the seat-back is
not excessively reclined.
•The occupant is not leaning against the door or
center console.
•The occupant's feet are plac ed on the floor in front
of them.
•There are no objects ha nging from the front
passenger's seat.
•Only small, lightweight objects are in the seat-back
pocket.
•No liquid has been spille d on or under the seat.
•There is no child seat or other object pressing
against the rear of the seat or seat-back.
•There is no rear passenger pushing or pulling on
the back of the front passenger's seat.
•There are no objects placed under or beside the
front passenger's seat . Improperly positioned
objects can interfere with the advanced airbag
sensors.
•The floor mat behind the front passenger's seat is
hooked to the floor mat anchor. An improperly
placed mat can interfere with the advanced airbag
sensors.
•The head restraint is not contacting the roof.

Climate Control System
Using Automatic Climate Control
The automatic climate control system maintains the interior temperature you select.
The system also selects the proper mix of h eated or cooled air that will as quickly as
possible, raise or lower the interior temperature to your preference.
Use the system when the engine is running.
1. Press the AUTO button.
2. Adjust the interior temperature using the driver’s side or passenger’s side
temperature control switch.
3. Press the ON/OFF button to cancel.1Using Automatic Climate Control
If any buttons are presse d while using the climate
control system in auto, the function of the button
that was pressed will take priority.
The AUTO indicator will go off, but functions
unrelated to the button th at was pressed will be
controlled automatically.
During Auto Idle Stop, air- conditioning is suspended,
and only the blower remains active.
If you do not want air-cond itioning suspended, press
the Auto Idle Stop OFF button to cancel Auto Idle
Stop.
To prevent cold air from bl owing in from outside, the
fan may operate at low speed for a while after the
AUTO button has been pressed.
While ECON mode is active, the climate control
system may have reduced cooling performance.
If the interior is very warm, you can cool it down
more rapidly by partial ly opening the windows,
turning the system on auto, and setting the
temperature to low. Change the fresh mode to
recirculation mode until the temperature cools down.
When you set the temperature to the lower or upper
limit, Lo or Hi is displayed.
