■To deactivate the security system alarm
Unlock the vehicle using the key, remote tr ansmitter, or keyless access system, or set
the power mode to ON. The system, along with the horn and flashing lights, is
deactivated.
■Setting the security system alarm
The security system alarm automatically sets when the following conditions have
been met:
• The power mode is set to VEHICLE OFF.
• The hood is closed.
• All doors and the trunk are locked from outside with the remote transmitter or
keyless access system.
■When the security system alarm sets
The security system alarm in dicator in the instrument panel blinks and the blinking
interval changes after about 15 seconds.
■To cancel the security system alarm
The security system alarm is canceled when the vehicle is unlocked using the remote
transmitter or keyless access system, or when the power mode is set to ON. The
security system alarm indicato r goes off at the same time.
1Security System Alarm
Do not set the security system alarm when someone
is in the vehicle or a window is open. The system can
accidentally activate when:
•Unlocking the door with the lock tab.•Opening the trunk with the trunk opener or the
emergency trunk opener.
•Opening the hood with the hood release.•Taking the transmission out of ( P.
If the battery goes dead after you have set the
security system alarm, the security alarm may go off
once the battery is re charged or replaced.
If this occurs, deactivate the security system alarm by
unlocking a door using the key, remote transmitter or
keyless access system.

Rear Seats
1. Remove the center shoulder belt from the
guide.
2. Pull the release lever in the trunk to release
the lock.
3. Fold the seat-back down.

accommodate bulkier items in the trunk.
Never drive with the seat-back folded down and the
trunk lid open.

To lock a seat-back upright, push it backwards until it
locks.
When returning the seat-back to its original position,
push it firmly back. Also, m ake sure all rear shoulder
belts are positioned in front of the seat-back, and the
center shoulder belt is re -positioned in the guide.
Make sure that the folded seat-back does not press
against the front passenger seat, as this can cause the
weight sensors in the front passenger seat to work

Make sure all items in the trunk or items
extending through the opening into the rear
seat are properly secured. Loose items can fly
forward if you have to brake hard.
Remove any items from th e rear seat cushion and
floor before you fold down the rear seat.
The front seat(s) must be far enough forward so they
do not interfere with the rear seats as they fold
down.

When started remotely, the engine automati cally shuts off after 10 minutes of idling
and/or the brake pedal and ENGINE START/STOP button have not been pressed
simultaneously.
To extend the run time for another 10 mi nutes during the first run, press the
button, then press an d hold the button.
u Some exterior lights flash six times if a 10-minute extension request was
transmitted successfully.1 Remote Engine Start
The engine may not start by the remote engine start
if:
•You have disabled a remo te engine start setting

•The power mode is not in VEHICLE OFF.
•The transmission is in a position other than (P.•The hood is open, or any door or the trunk is
unlocked.
•You have already used the remote twice to start
the engine.
•Another registered keyless remote is in the vehicle.
•There is any antenna failure.•The door is unlocked with the built-in key.
•The engine oil pressure is low.
•The engine coolant temper ature is extremely high.•The security system alarm is not set.
•The shift lever release button is pressed.
•The battery charge is too low.
•You press the ENGINE START/STOP button.•The system is updating.

■To stop the engine
Press and hold the button for one
second.
If the engine stops successfully, the exterior
lights flash once.
When the keyless remote is out of the keyless
access system range, the exterior lights will
not flash.
The engine will not stop. u Go within the rang e, and try again.1Remote Engine Start
The engine may stop whil e it is running if:
•You do not start the vehicl e within 10 minutes of
starting the engine with the keyless remote.
•The engine is stopped by using the keyless remote.•The security system alarm is activated.
•The door is unlocked with the built-in key.
•The hood is open.•The trunk, or any door is unlocked without using
the keyless remote or keyless access system.
•You press the shift lever release button.•The engine coolant temper ature is extremely high.
•The engine oil pressure is low.
•The malfunction indicator la mp comes on if there is
a problem with the emissions control systems.
•The ENGINE START/STOP button is pressed while
a door has been opened without using the keyless
remote or keyless access system.
While the engine is running, the vehicle will
automatically preconditi on inside the vehicle.
When it is warm outside:
•The climate control system is activated in
recirculation mode.
When it is cold outside:
•The defroster is activated at a moderately warm
temperature.
•The rear defogger, he ated door mirrors*, and front
seat heaters* are activated.

How to Refuel
Your fuel tank is not equipped with a fuel filler cap. You can insert the filler nozzle
directly into the filler neck. The tank seal s itself again when you pull out the filler
nozzle.
1.Stop your vehicle with the service station
pump on the left side of the vehicle in the
rear.
2. Turn off the engine.
3. Unlock the driver’s door.
u The fuel fill door on the outer side of the
vehicle will unlock.
4. Press and release the area indicated by the
arrow to release the fu el fill door. You will
hear a click and the lid will open slightly.
5. Manually pull the fuel fill door to a fully
open position.1How to Refuel
The fuel filler opening is designed to accept only
service station filler nozzles for refueling. Use of
smaller diameter tubes (e.g., those used to siphon fuel
for other uses) or other non-service station devices can
damage the area in and around the filler opening.
Use the master door lock switch to unlock the fuel fill
door.
The vehicle doors and fuel fill door automatically
relock if the keyless remo te unlock function is used.
This can be deactivated by briefly opening then
closing the driver’s door.
Using the Walk away auto lock® feature will also lock
the fuel fill door. Always make sure both the driver’s
door and fuel fill door are unlocked before
attempting to open th e fuel fill door.

If you cannot unlock the fuel fill door, use the following procedure.1.Open the trunk.
2. Pull the release cord toward you.
