TAILGATE LOCK
The tailgate lock can help prevent theft ofthe tailgate.
Insert the ignition key into the tailgate lock.Turn it to the left to lock the tailgate. Turnit to the right to unlock the tailgate.
Power Tailgate Lock (If Equipped)
You can use the power door lock controlor the remote control to lock and unlockyour tailgate.
REMOVING THE TAILGATE
WARNING: Always properly securecargo to prevent shifting cargo or cargofalling from the vehicle. Failure to do socould result in compromised vehiclestability and serious personal injury tovehicle occupants or others.
You can remove the tailgate for moreloading room.
1.Locate and disconnect the in-lineconnector. It is under the pickup boxon the center right-hand side of thevehicle near the spare tire.
2.There is a protective cap in the glovebox. Install it on the in-line connectorthat remains under the pickup box.
3.Partially lower the tailgate. Carefullyfeed the tailgate harness up throughthe gap between the pickup box andthe bumper and place it out of the wayunder the pickup box.
4.Lower the tailgate.
5.Lift the tailgate to 45 degrees fromhorizontal.
6.Lift the right side off its hinge.

Defogging the Side Windows in Cold Weather
Automatic climate controlManual climate control
Press the defrost button.Direct air to the windshield using the airdistribution buttons.1
Adjust the temperature control to thedesired setting. Use 72°F (22°C) as astarting point, then adjust the setting asnecessary.
Press A/C.2
Adjust the temperature control to thedesired setting.3
Adjust the fan speed to the highestsetting.4
HEATED REAR WINDOW (IF
EQUIPPED)
Press the button to clear the rearwindow of thin ice and fog. Theheated rear window turns offafter a short period of time.
Note:Do not use harsh chemicals, razorblades or other sharp objects to clean orremove decals from the inside of the heatedrear window. The vehicle warranty may notcover damage to the heated rear windowgrid lines.
HEATED EXTERIOR MIRRORS
(IF EQUIPPED)
When you switch the heated rear windowon, the heated exterior mirrors turn on.
Note:Do not remove ice from the mirrorswith a scraper or adjust the mirror glasswhen it is frozen in place.
Note:Do not clean the mirror housing orglass with harsh abrasives, fuel or otherpetroleum-based cleaning products. Thevehicle warranty may not cover damagecaused to the mirror housing or glass.
CABIN AIR FILTER
Your vehicle is equipped with a cabin airfilter, which gives you and your passengersthe following benefits:
•It improves your driving comfort byreducing particle concentration.
•It improves the interior compartmentcleanliness.
•It protects the climate controlcomponents from particle deposits.
You can locate the cabin air filter behindthe glove box.
Note:Make sure you have a cabin air filterinstalled at all times. This prevents foreignobjects from entering the system. Runningthe system without a filter in place couldresult in degradation or damage to thesystem.
Replace the filter at regular intervals. SeeScheduled Maintenance (page 416).

GLOVE COMPARTMENT
The glove box is on the passenger side ofthe instrument panel.
Open the glove box using the latch handle.
Glove Box with Lock (If Equipped)
Lock the glove box using the ignition key.To lock, close the glove box and insert theignition key into the glove box lock androtate it clockwise. Remove the key.
To unlock the glove box, insert the ignitionkey into the glove box lock and rotate itcounter clockwise.
CENTER CONSOLE
Stow items in the cup holder carefully asitems may become loose during hardbraking, acceleration or crashes, includinghot drinks which may spill.
