RECOGNITION
Speed sign recognition detects speed limitsigns to inform you of the current speedlimit. Detected speed signs appear in theinformation display.

RECOGNITION WORK
Speed sign recognition uses a sensorbehind the interior mirror to detect speedsigns.
If your vehicle has speed sign recognitionwith navigation, stored speed sign datamay influence the indicated speed limitvalue.

Failureto follow this instruction could result inthe loss of control of your vehicle,personal injury or death.
WARNING: In cold and severeweather conditions the system may notfunction. Rain, snow and spray can alllimit sensor performance.
WARNING: The system may notoperate properly if the sensor is blocked.Keep the windshield free fromobstruction.
WARNING: Do not performwindshield repairs in the areasurrounding the sensor.
WARNING: The system may notcorrectly operate if your vehicle is fittedwith a suspension kit not approved byFord.
WARNING: Not all traffic signs canbe recognized by the system anddisplayed correctly.
Note:Always fit our original parts whenreplacing headlamp bulbs. Other bulbs mayreduce system performance. See ExteriorBulb Specification Chart (page 517).
SPEED SIGN RECOGNITION
LIMITATIONS
Speed sign recognition may not operatecorrectly due to:
•Outdated map data.
•Incorrect recognition of speed limits bythe sensor of signs on parallel roads orexit ramps.
•Missed recognition of faded, dirty, ordistorted signs.

If you replace the battery make sure itmatches the electrical requirements ofyour vehicle.
If you disconnect or replace the batteryand your vehicle has an automatictransmission, it must relearn its adaptivestrategy. Because of this, the transmissionmay shift firmly when first driven. This isnormal operation while the transmissionfully updates its operation to optimumshift feel.
Battery Sensor Reset
When you install a new battery, reset thebattery sensor by doing the following:
1.Switch the ignition on, and leave theengine off.
Note:Complete Steps 2 and 3 within 10seconds.
2.Flash the high beam headlamps fivetimes, ending with the high beams off.
3.Press and release the brake pedal threetimes.
The battery warning lamp flashes threetimes to confirm that the reset issuccessful.
Battery Management System (If
Equipped)
The system monitors battery conditionsand takes actions to extend battery life. Ifexcessive battery drain is detected, thesystem temporarily disables someelectrical systems to protect the battery.
Systems included are:
•Heated rear window.
•Heated seats.
•Climate control.
•Heated steering wheel.
•Audio unit.
•Navigation system.
A message may appear in the informationdisplay to alert you that battery protectionactions are active. This message is only fornotification that an action is taking place,and not intended to indicate an electricalproblem or that the battery requiresreplacement.
After battery replacement, or in somecases after charging the battery with anexternal charger, the battery managementsystem requires eight hours of vehicle sleeptime to relearn the battery state of charge.During this time, your vehicle must remainfully locked with the ignition switched off.
Note:Prior to relearning the battery stateof charge, the battery management systemmay temporarily disable some electricalsystems.
Electrical Accessory Installation
To make sure the battery managementsystem works correctly, do not connect anelectrical device ground connectiondirectly to the battery negative post. Thiscan cause inaccurate measurements ofthe battery condition and potentialincorrect system operation.
Note:If you add electrical accessories orcomponents to the vehicle, it may adverselyaffect battery performance and durability.This may also affect the performance ofother electrical systems in the vehicle.
Remove and Reinstall the Battery
Install a battery approved for use by ourspecifications. See Capacities andSpecifications (page 578).
To disconnect or remove the battery, dothe following:
1.Apply the parking brake and switch theignition off.
2.Switch all electrical equipment off, forexample lights and radio.

WHAT IS ALEXA BUILT-IN
Allows you to use Alexa in your vehicle forauto specific use cases on the road andgives you access to an ever evolvingnumber of skills that help to make your lifemore productive, entertaining, andconnected while using your vehicle.
ALEXA BUILT-IN
REQUIREMENTS
To use Alexa, all of the following mustoccur:
•Your vehicle modem is enabled.
•You are logged into an existing Amazonaccount.
•Vehicle location services are enabled.
•Vehicle connectivity and vehicle datasharing is enabled.
SIGNING INTO YOUR
ACCOUNT
Press the button in the statusbar and follow the on-screenprompts.
To sign in using the settings menu:
1.Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2.Press Amazon Alexa.
3.Press Get Started.
4.Sign into your account by eitherscanning the QR code or entering theon-screen code into the Amazonwebsite.
5.Once logged in, follow the on-screenprompts.
6.When complete, the vehicle informsyou that Alexa is ready to be used inthe vehicle.
Signing Out of Your Account
1.Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2.Press Amazon Alexa.
3.Press Sign Out.
USING ALEXA BUILT-IN
To use Alexa, say “Alexa” or press the voiceinteraction button on the steering wheeland then say “Alexa” to invoke Alexa tostart listening.

HOW DO PERSONAL PROFILES
WORK
You can create multiple personal profilesenabling users to personalize vehiclesettings such as seats and mirrors, as wellas non-positional settings like radio,navigation and driver assist systemsettings. Positional settings are saved byholding a memory seat button.Non-positional settings are saved whenyou change a setting while a profile isactive.
ENABLING OR DISABLING
PERSONAL PROFILES
1.Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2.Press Personal Profiles.
3.Switch Personal Profiles on or off.
When enabled:
•Unlocking a door with a remote controlor mobile device that is not linked to adriver profile does not change theactive profile, but remains in the lastknown profile. It does not change thepositional settings.
•Pressing a memory seat button that isnot linked to a driver profile or saved toa preset setting does not change theactive profile, but remains in the lastknown profile. It does not change thepositional settings.
•Pressing a memory seat button that isnot linked to a driver profile but is savedto a preset setting does not change theactive profile, but remains in the lastknown profile. It recalls the positionalsettings that you saved to that memoryseat button.
When disabled:
•Unlocking a door with a remote controlor mobile device does not recall anynon-positional settings but still recallspositional settings from the driverprofile which the remote control ormobile device is linked to.
•Pressing a memory seat button that isnot linked to a driver profile or saved toa preset setting does not change thepositional or non-positional settings.
•Pressing a memory seat button that islinked to a driver profile or has savedto a preset setting recalls the positionalsettings that you saved to that memoryseat button.
CREATING A PERSONAL
PROFILE
You can create one profile for each presetmemory seat button. There is also a guestprofile.
Note:The guest profile consists of existingsettings when there is no driver profilecreated. After you create a driver profile, theguest profile serves as an additional driverprofile.
1.Press Settings on the touchscreen.
2.Press Personal Profiles.
3.Press Add Profile.
4.Follow the prompts on the display.
LINKING OR UNLINKING A
PERSONAL PROFILE
You can link your profile to a remotecontrol so that your settings are activatedwhen you use the remote control to turnon the vehicle.
