BLIND SPOT INFORMATION
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
Blind spot information system turns onwhen all the following occur:
•You start your vehicle.
•You shift into drive (D).
•The vehicle speed is greater than6 mph (10 km/h).
SWITCHING BLIND SPOT
INFORMATION SYSTEM ON
AND OFF
To switch blind spot information systemon or off, use the instrument clusterdisplay:
1.Using the instrument cluster displaycontrols on the steering wheel, selectDriver Assist.
2.Switch Blind Spot on or off.
When you switch blind spot informationsystem off, a warning lamp illuminates anda message displays. When you switch thesystem on or off, the alert indicators flashtwice.
Note:The system remembers the lastsetting when you start your vehicle.
To permanently switch the system off, contact an authorized dealer.
LOCATING THE BLIND SPOT
INFORMATION SYSTEM
SENSORS
The sensors are behind the rear bumperon both sides of your vehicle.
Note:Keep the sensors free from snow, iceand large accumulations of dirt.
Note:Do not cover the sensors with bumperstickers, repair compound or other objects.
Note:Blocked sensors may affect systemaccuracy.
Note:Bike and cargo racks could causefalse alerts due to obstruction of the sensor. We recommend switching the feature offwhen using a bike or cargo rack.
If the sensors become blocked, a messagemay appear in the information display. Thealert indicators remain illuminated but thesystem does not alert you.

WHAT IS CROSS TRAFFIC
ALERT
The system alerts you of vehiclesapproaching from the sides behind yourvehicle when you shift into reverse (R).
HOW DOES CROSS TRAFFIC
ALERT WORK
Cross traffic alert detects vehicles thatapproach at a speed between 4–37 mph(6–60 km/h). Coverage decreases whenthe sensors are partially, mostly or fullyobstructed.
The sensor on the left-hand side is onlypartially obstructed and zone coverage onthe right-hand side is maximized.
Zone coverage also decreases whenparking at narrow angles. The sensor onthe left-hand side is mostly obstructed andzone coverage on that side is severelyreduced.
Note: Slowly reversing helps increase thecoverage area and effectiveness.
CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT
PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Do not use the crosstraffic alert system as a replacement forusing the interior and exterior mirrors orlooking over your shoulder beforereversing out of a parking space. Thecross traffic alert system is not areplacement for careful driving.
WARNING: The system may notoperate properly during severe weatherconditions, for example snow, ice, heavyrain and spray. Always drive with duecare and attention. Failure to take caremay result in a crash.
CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT
LIMITATIONS
Cross traffic alert may not correctlyoperate when any of the following occur:
•Something is blocking the sensors.
•Adjacently parked vehicles or objectsare obstructing the sensors.
•Vehicles approach at speeds less than4 mph (6 km/h) or greater than 37 mph(60 km/h).
•Your vehicle speed is greater than7 mph (12 km/h).
•You reverse out of an angled parkingspace.

LOCATING THE CROSS
TRAFFIC ALERT SENSORS

Note:Keep the sensors free from snow, iceand large accumulations of dirt.
Note:Do not cover the sensors with bumperstickers, repair compound or other objects.
Note:Blocked sensors could affect systemperformance.
Note:Bike and cargo racks could causefalse alerts due to obstruction of the sensor. We recommend switching the feature offwhen using a bike or cargo rack.
If the sensors are blocked, a message mayappear in the information display whenyou shift into reverse (R).
CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT
INDICATORS
When the cross traffic alertdetects an approaching vehicle,a tone sounds, a warning lampilluminates in the relevant exterior mirrorand arrows appear in the informationdisplay to show which side the vehicle isapproaching from.
If the system malfunctions, a warning lampilluminates in the instrument cluster anda message appears in the instrumentcluster display. Have your vehicle checkedas soon as possible.
Note:If arrows do not display, a messageappears in the instrument cluster display.
Note:In some conditions, the system couldalert you, even when there is nothing in thedetection zone, for example a vehiclepassing further away from your vehicle.

WARNING: The system mayoperate with reduced function duringcold and inclement weather conditions.Snow, ice, rain, spray and fog canadversely affect the system. Keep thefront camera and radar free of snow andice. Failure to follow this instruction mayresult in the loss of control of yourvehicle, serious personal injury or death.
WARNING: Take additional care ifyour vehicle is heavily loaded or you aretowing a trailer. These conditions couldresult in reduced performance of thissystem. Failure to follow this instructioncould result in the loss of control of yourvehicle, personal injury or death.
WARNING: The system cannothelp prevent all crashes. Do not rely onthis system to replace driver judgmentand the need to maintain a safe distanceand speed.
WARNING: System performancecould be reduced in situations where thevehicle camera has limited detectioncapability. These situations include butare not limited to direct or low sunlight, vehicles at night without tail lights, unconventional vehicle types, andpedestrians and cyclists with complex, partially obscured backgrounds. Failureto take care may result in the loss ofcontrol of your vehicle, personal injury ordeath.
PRE-COLLISION ASSIST
LIMITATIONS
Pre-collision assist depends on thedetection ability of its camera and sensors.Any obstructions or damage to these areascan limit detection or prevent the systemfrom functioning. See Locating thePre-Collision Assist Sensors (page 236).
The system is active at 3 mph (5 km/h)and above.
Note:The pre-collision assist systemdisables when you select four-wheel drivelow or manually disable AdvanceTrac™.
Note:Brake support and automaticemergency braking are active at speeds upto 75 mph (120 km/h). If the vehicle has aradar sensor included with adaptive cruisecontrol, then brake support and automaticemergency braking are active up to themaximum speed of the vehicle.
Pedestrian Detection Limitations
Pedestrian detection is active at speedsup to 50 mph (80 km/h).
Pedestrian detection functions optimallywhen detected hazards are clearlyidentifiable. System performance mayreduce in situations where pedestrians arerunning, partly obscured, have a complexbackground, or cannot be distinguishedfrom a group.

COLLISION ASSIST SENSORS
Camera.1
Radar sensor (if equipped).2
If a message regarding a blocked sensoror camera appears in the informationdisplay, something is obstructing the radarsignals or camera images. The radar sensoris behind the fascia cover in the center ofthe lower grille. With a blocked sensor orcamera, the system may not function, orperformance may reduce. SeePre-Collision Assist – InformationMessages (page 239).
Note:Proper system operation requires aclear view of the road by the camera. Haveany windshield damage in the area of thecamera's field of view repaired.
Note:If something hits the front end of yourvehicle or damage occurs and your vehiclehas a radar sensor, the radar sensing zonecould change. This could cause missed orfalse vehicle detections. Have your vehicleserviced to have the radar checked forproper coverage and operation.
Note:If your vehicle detects excessive heatat the camera or a potential misalignmentcondition, a message could display in theinformation display indicating temporarysensor unavailability. When operationalconditions are correct, the messagedeactivates. For example, when the ambienttemperature around the sensor decreasesor the sensor recalibrates successfully.

WHAT IS DISTANCE INDICATION
