2. Insert the key into the seat lock, and then turn it clockwise. While
holding the key turned in the
clockwise position, push the front
of the seat down to lock it in place.
3. Remove the key.
Rider seat
To remove the rider seat
1. Remove the passenger seat, and then remove the cover by remov-
ing the quick fasteners. 2. Remove the hexagon wrench.
3. Remove the bolts with the hexa-
gon wrench. 4. Lift the seat rearward and up to re-
move it.
To install the rider seat
1. Fit the slot in the seat onto the pro- jection on the frame cross mem-
ber as shown, and then place the
seat in the original position.

stopped, the transmission can be
shifted into the neutral position.
The neutral indicator light should
come on and then the clutch lever
can be released.

Improper braking can cause
loss of control or traction. Al-
ways use both brakes and apply
them smoothly.
 Make sure that the motorcycle
and the engine have sufficiently
slowed before shifting to a low-
er gear. Engaging a lower gear
when the vehicle or engine
speed is too high could make
the rear wheel lose traction or
the engine to over-rev. This
could cause loss of control, an
accident and injury. It could also
cause engine or drive train dam-
age.

Tips for reducing fuel con-
sumptionFuel consumption depends largely on
your riding style. Consider the follow-
ing tips to reduce fuel consumption:
 Shift up swiftly, and avoid high en-
gine speeds during acceleration.
 Do not rev the engine while shift-
ing down, and avoid high engine
speeds with no load on the en-
gine.
 Turn the engine off instead of let-
ting it idle for an extended length
of time (e.g., in traffic jams, at traf-
fic lights or at railroad crossings).

ParkingWhen parking, stop the engine, and
then remove the key from the main

park in a place where pedestri-
ans or children are not likely to
touch them and be burned.
 Do not park on a slope or on soft

may overturn, increasing the
risk of a fuel leak and fire.

flammable materials which
might catch fire.

1. Turn the key to “OFF” and turn off
the electrical circuit in question.
2. Remove the blown fuse, and then install a new fuse of the specified
amperage. WARNING! Do not
use a fuse of a higher amperage
rating than recommended to
avoid causing extensive dam-
age to the electrical system and
possibly a fire.

3. Turn the key to “ON” and turn on the electrical circuit in question to
check if the device operates.
4. If the fuse immediately blows again, have a Yamaha dealer
check the electrical system.

If an LED light does not come on,
check the fuses and then have a
Yamaha dealer check the vehicle. If the
license plate light does not come on,
check and replace the bulb. (See page
