Disconnect the shift cable from the ball joint
before lubricating.

gine with a rust inhibitor.

nents
Rustproof the internal engine components
with a rust inhibitor.
To rustproof the internal engine compo-
nents:
(1) Remove the seat and fire extinguisherholder. (See page 36 for seat removal
and installation procedures and page 40
for information on the fire extinguisher
holder.)
(2) Remove the plastic tie that is fastening the fuel hose to the holder on the star-
board side of the air filter case.
(3) Release the hooks on the port side of the air filter case, and remove the air filter
case cover.

(4) Spray a rust inhibitor into the intakeopening for 3 seconds. WARNING! Do
not spray flammable rust inhibitor
products on engine surfaces while the
engine is hot. The sprayed substance
or propellants could catch fire.

(5) Place the air filter case cover in its origi- nal position, and then fit the hooks onto
the cover.
TIP
Make sure that the air filter case cover is se-
curely installed.
(6) Fasten the fuel hose to the holder usingthe plastic tie.
(7) Make sure that the area around the wa- tercraft is clear, and then start the engine
in a well-ventilated area and let it run at
idle for 15 seconds. (See page 24 for in-
formation on starting the engine.)
(8) Stop the engine.
(9) Securely install the fire extinguisher hold- er and seat in their original positions.
