QMeter display
When the power switch is turned off, each display will turn off as follows.
O The shift position indicator will turn off after approximately 2 seconds.
O The multi-information display, clock, etc. will turn off after approximately 30
seconds.
(Each display will also turn off immediately if a door is locke d before 30 sec-
onds has elapsed.)
Q If the smart entry & start system has been deactivated in a customized
setting

WARNING
QWhen starting the hybrid system
Always start the hybrid system while sitting in the driver’s se at. Do not
depress the accelerator pedal while starting the hybrid system under any
circumstances.
Doing so may cause an accident res ulting in death or serious injury.
Q Stopping the hybrid system in an emergency
O If you want to stop the hybrid system in an emergency while driving the
vehicle, press and hold the power switch for more than 2 second s, or
press it briefly 3 times or more in succession. ( P. 647)
However, do not touch the power switch while driving except in an emer-
gency. Turning the hybrid system off while driving will not cau se loss of
steering or braking control, however, power assist to the steer ing will be
lost. This will make it more difficult to steer smoothly, so yo u should pull
over and stop the vehicle as soon as it is safe to do so.
O If the power switch is operated while the vehicle is running, a warning
message will be shown on the multi-information display and a bu zzer
sounds.
O When restarting the hybrid system after an emergency shutdown while
driving, press the power switch. When restarting the hybrid sys tem after
stopping the vehicle, change the shift position to P and then p ress the
power switch.

QAdding engine oil
If the oil level is below or near
the low level mark, add engine
oil of the same type as that
already in the engine.
Make sure to check the oil type and prepare the items needed
before adding oil.
Remove the oil filler cap by turning it counterclockwise.
Add engine oil slowly, checking the dipstick.
Install the oil filler cap by turning it clockwise.
Q Engine oil consumption
A certain amount of engine oil will be consumed while driving. In the following
situations, oil consumption may increase, and engine oil may ne ed to be
refilled in between oil maintenance intervals.
O When the engine is new, for example directly after purchasing the vehicle or
after replacing the engine
O If low quality oil or oil of an inappropriate viscosity is used
O When driving at high engine speeds or with a heavy load, or when driving
while accelerating or decelerating frequently
O When leaving the engine idling for a long time, or when driving frequently
through heavy traffic

QBack-up lights
Remove the 2 clips that secure the lower portion of the cover a t
the back of the rear tire.
Pull out the center portion of
the clip to unlock using a flat-
head screwdriver, and then
pull it to remove.
Remove the 3 clips that secure the upper portion of the cover.
Turn the clip counterclockwise to remove.
Pull out the center portion of the clip to unlock using a flath ead
screwdriver, and then pull it to remove.
Pull out the center portion of the clip to unlock using a flath ead
screwdriver, and then pull it to remove.

Remove the cover end and
pull the cover toward the
front of the vehicle to make a
gap between the cover and
rear bumper.
Remove the clip inside of the cover, and remove the cover.
Pull out the center portion of
the clip to unlock using a flat-
head screwdriver, and then
pull it to remove.
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise, and then remove
the light bulb.
To remove the light bulb, insert a
hand from the gap between the
rear tire and rear bumper.

Maintenance and care
Install a new light bulb then
install the bulb base to the
light unit by inserting it and
turning the bulb base clock-
wise.
Reinstall the cover to the its original position, and attach the clip
inside of the cover.
Attach the clip on the cover,
then press the center portion
of the clip to lock.
Reinsert the cover end to the
rear bumper.
Make sure to secure the 2 tabs
on the cover end.

Reinsert the 3 clips to the upper portion of the cover.
Turn the clip clockwise to lock.
Attach the clip on the cover, and then press the center portion
of the clip to lock.
Attach the clip on the cover, and then press the center portion
of the clip to lock.
Reinsert the 2 clips to the lower portion of the cover.
Attach the clip on the cover,
and then press the center
portion of the clip to lock.

Connect the hose to the valve.
Screw the end of the hose clock-
wise as far as possible.
Make sure that the compressor
switch is off.
Connect the power plug to the power outlet socket. ( P. 556)
Attach the sticker provided with
the tire puncture repair kit to a
position easily seen from the
driver’s seat.
