*1: These lights turn on when the engine switch is turned to the “ON” position(vehicles without a smart key system) or IGNITION ON mode (vehi cles
with a smart key system) to indicate that a system check is being per-
formed. They will turn off after the engine is started, or after a few seconds.
There may be a malfunction in a system if a light does not come on, or turn
off. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
*2: This light does not turn on when the system is disabled.
*3: This light turns on when the system is off.
*4: This light flashes to indicate that the system is operating.
*5: These indicators will illuminate in the following situations to indicate that the system initial check is being performed:
• When the BSM function or RCTA function is enabled and the engi ne
switch is turned to the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart key sys-
tem) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with a smart key system).
• When the engine switch is in the “ON” position (vehicles witho ut a smart
key system) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with a smart key syst em)
and the BSM function is enabled.
• When the engine switch is in the “ON” position (vehicles witho ut a smart
key system) or IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with a smart key syst em)
and the RCTA function is enabled. (At this time, a buzzer will also
sound.)
The indicators will turn off after a few seconds. If the indica tors do not
illuminate or turn off, or if a buzzer does not sound when the RCTA func-
tion is enabled, the system may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle
inspected by your Toyota dealer.
*6: This light illuminates on the outside rear view mirrors.
*7: This light illuminates on the center panel.
*8: When the outside temperature is approximately 37°F (3°C) or lo wer, this
indicator will flash for approximately 10 seconds, then stay on .
WARNING
■If a safety system warning light does not come on
Should a safety system light such as the ABS and SRS warning lights not
come on when you start the engine, this could mean that these s ystems are
not available to help protect you in an accident, which could result in death
or serious injury. Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer immedi-
ately if this occurs.

NOTICE
■To prevent damage to the engine and its components
● Do not let the indicator needle of the tachometer enter the red zone, which
indicates the maximum engine speed.
● The engine may be overheating if the engine coolant temperature gauge is
in the red zone (H). In this case, immediately stop the vehicle in a safe
place, and check the engine after it has cooled completely. ( P. 567)

■Head-up display
The head-up display may seem dark or hard to see when viewed th rough
sunglasses, especially polarized sunglasses.
Adjust the brightness of the head-up display or remove your sunglasses.
■ Display brightness
The brightness of the head-up display can be adjusted on of the multi-
information display. Also, it is automatically adjusted accordi ng to the ambient
brightness.
■ Enabling/disabling of the head-up display
If the head-up display is disabled, it will remain disabled when the engine
switch is turned off then back to IGNITION ON mode.
■ Street name display (vehicles with a navigation system)
Only street names which are included in the map data will be displayed.
WARNING
■Before using the head-up display
● Check that the position and brightness of the head-up display i mage does
not interfere with safe driving. Incorrect adjustment of the image’s position
or brightness may obstruct the driver’s view and lead to an accident,
resulting in death or serious injury.
● Do not continuously look at the head-up display while driving a s you may
fail to see pedestrians, objects on the road, etc. ahead of the vehicle.
■ Caution for changing settings of the head-up display
As the engine needs to be running while changing the settings of the head-
up display, ensure that the vehicle is parked in a place with adequate venti-
lation. In a closed area such as a garage, exhaust gases includ ing harmful
carbon monoxide (CO) may collect and enter the vehicle. This may lead to
death or a serious health hazard.

Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may result in death or serious injury.
■Closing the windows
● The driver is responsible for all the power window operations, including the
operation for the passengers. In order to prevent accidental op eration,
especially by a child, do not let a child operate the power windows. It is
possible for children and other passengers to have body parts c aught in
the power window. Also, when riding with a child, it is recommended to use
the window lock switch.( P. 179)
● When using the wireless remote control, key or mechanical key a nd oper-
ating the power windows, operate the power window after checkin g to
make sure that there is no possibility of any passenger having any of their
body parts caught in the window. Also do not let a child operate window by
the wireless remote control, key or mechanical key. It is possi ble for chil-
dren and other passengers to get caught in the power window.
● When exiting the vehicle, turn the engine switch off, carry the key and exit
the vehicle along with the child. There may be accidental operation, due to
mischief, etc., that may possibly lead to an accident.
■ Jam protection function
● Never use any part of your body to intentionally activate the jam protection
function.
● The jam protection function may not work if something gets jammed just
before the window is fully closed. Be careful not to get any pa rt of your
body jammed in the window.
■ Catch protection function
● Never use any part of your body or clothing to intentionally ac tivate the
catch protection function.
● The catch protection function may not work if something gets caught just
before the window is fully opened. Be careful not to get any part of your
body or clothing caught in the window.

do not have any part of their body in a
position where it could be caught when
a window is being operated.

Operation of each component

When the moon roof does not close normally
Perform the following procedure:
●If the moon roof closes but then re-opens slightly
Stop the vehicle.
Press and hold the “CLOSE” switch.

The moon roof will close, reopen and pause for approximately 10 sec-
onds.
*2 Then it will close again, tilt up and pause for approximately 1 sec-
ond. Finally, it will tilt down, open and close.
Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then
release the switch.
● If the moon roof tilts down but then tilts back up
Stop the vehicle.
Press and hold the “UP” switch
*1 until the moon roof moves into the tilt
up position and stops.
Release the “UP” switch once and then press and hold the “UP” s witch
again.

The moon roof will pause for approximately 10 seconds in the tilt up posi-
tion.
*2 Then it will adjust slightly and pause for approximately 1 second.
Finally, it will tilt down, open and close.
Check to make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then
release the switch.
*1: If the switch is released at the incorrect time, the procedure will have to
be performed again from the beginning.
*2: If the switch is released after the above mentioned 10 second pause, automatic operation will be disabled. In that case, press and h old the
“CLOSE” or “UP” switch, and the moon roof will tilt up and paus e for
approximately 1 second. Then it will tilt down, open and close. Check to
make sure that the moon roof is completely closed and then release the
switch.
If the moon roof does not fully close even after performing the above proce-
dure correctly, have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota deale r.
■ Alarm
The alarm may be triggered if the alarm is set and the moon roo f is closed
using the door lock linked moon roof operation function. ( P. 83)
■ Moon roof open warning buzzer
A buzzer sounds and a message is shown on the multi-information display in
the instrument cluster when the engine switch is turned off and the driver's
door is opened with the moon roof open.
■ Customization
Some functions can be customized. ( P. 606)

child operate the moon roof. It is possible for children and other passen-
gers to have body parts caught in the moon roof.
● When exiting the vehicle, turn the engine switch off, carry the key and exit
the vehicle along with the child. There may be accidental operation, due to
mischief, etc., that may possibly lead to an accident.
■ Jam protection function
● Never use any part of your body to intentionally activate the jam protection
function.
● The jam protection function may not work if something gets caught just
before the moon roof is fully closed. Also, the jam protection function is not
designed to operate while the switch is being pressed. Take care so that
your fingers, etc. do not get caught.
●Check to make sure that all passengers
do not have any part of their body in a
position where it could be caught when
the moon roof is being operated.
● When using the wireless remote con-
trol, key or mechanical key and operat-
ing the moon roof, operate the moon
roof after checking to make sure that
there is no possibility of any passenger
having any of their body parts caught in
the moon roof. Also, do not let a child
operate moon roof by the wireless
remote control, key or mechanical key.
It is possible for children and other pas-
sengers to get caught in the moon roof.

Operation of each component

Closing both the panoramic moon roof and electronic sunshade
Slide the
switch forward.
The electronic sunshade will close to the half-open position an d pause. The
panoramic moon roof will then fully close. Then the electronic sunshade will
fully close.
■ When the panoramic moon roof or electronic sunshade does not close
normally
Perform the following procedure:
Stop the vehicle.
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Slide and hold the switch or switch forward. Continue pressing
the switch for approximately 10 seconds after the panoramic moo n roof or
electronic sunshade closes and reopens. The panoramic moon roof and
electronic sunshade will start to close.

Check that the panoramic moon roof and electronic sunshade are fully
closed and release the switch.
*: If the switch is released at the incorrect time, the procedure will have to be
performed again from the beginning.
If the panoramic moon roof or electronic sunshade does not fully close even
after performing the above procedure correctly, have the vehicle inspected by
your Toyota dealer.
■ Alarm
The alarm may be triggered if the alarm is set and the panorami c moon roof is
closed using the door lock linked panoramic moon roof operation function.

■ Panoramic moon roof open warning buzzer
A buzzer sounds and a message is shown on the multi-information display in
the instrument cluster when the engine switch is turned off and the driver’s
door is opened with the panoramic moon roof open.

roof. Also, do not let a child operate
panoramic moon roof by the wireless
remote control or mechanical key. It is

gers to get caught in the panoramic
