POWER MOONROOF(if equipped)
With the ignition in the “ON”
position, you can tilt or slide the
moonroof.
Tilting the Moonroof
1With the moonroof in the
fully closed position, press,
briefly hold, and then release
the center of the moonroof
switch to automatically tilt
the moonroof up. Slide and
hold the moonroof switch
forward to lay the moonroof
back down.
Opening/Closing the Moonroof
2Opening:Slide the switch rearward, briefly hold, and then release to automatically
open the moonroof. It will stop slightly before the fully-open position to reduce wind
noise. Slide the switch rearward again to fully open it.
3Closing:Slide the switch forward, briefly hold, and then release to automatically
close the moonroof.
Sliding the switch either way while the moonroof automatically opens or closes will pause
the moonroof.

3Automatic Illumination:When the switch is in the “DOOR” position, the map lights
illuminate when any door is opened, the doors are unlocked using the remote keyless
entry system or keyless access function, or the ignition is turned from “ON” or “ACC”
to “LOCK”/“OFF”.
4Power Moonroof Switch:Use this switch to operate the power moonroof.

“Keys and Doors” in your Owner’s Manual.
5Map Lights:Press a map light to turn it on or off.
NOTE: The map lights can remain on even when the ignition is off, key removed from
vehicle and doors are locked.

Store the cover under the floor of the cargo
area when not in use. Instructions for operation
are included on the cargo cover housing.
SPARE TIRE
The maintenance tools and spare tire are
stored in the under-floor storage compartment.
Hang the hook provided on the underside of
the lid on the rear edge of the roof to keep the
lid open. Outback Onyx and Wilderness come
equipped with a full size spare tire.
Your vehicle is equipped with the following
maintenance tools.
• Jack
• Jack handle
• Screwdriver
• Towing hook (eye bolt)
• Wheel nut wrench
• Torque wrench for roof rails (if equipped)
NOTE: The temporary spare tire, if equipped,
must be used only on a rear wheel. If a front
wheel tire gets punctured, replace the wheel
with a rear wheel and install the temporary
spare tire in place of the removed rear wheel.

• For models equipped with the BSD (Blind Spot Detection) and RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic
Alert) driving support systems, when towing a trailer, it may be necessary to select
“BSD/RCTA” to deactivate the system. The system may not operate as expected due to
obstruction of the radar waves. For details about how to turn BSD/RCTA off, refer to
page 114 in this Getting Started Guide and/or “Starting and Operating” in your Owner’s
Manual.
• For models equipped with the RAB (Reverse Automatic Braking) driving support system,
when towing a trailer, it may be necessary to press the RAB button to deactivate the
system. The system may not operate as expected due to obstruction of the sonar
waves. For details about the RAB button, refer to page 115 in this Getting Started Guide
and/or “Starting and Operating” in your Owner’s Manual.
Please refer to “Driving Tips” in your Owner’s Manual for complete details, especially if
you plan to use this vehicle for regular towing.
