The system may be impaired or may not function
particular lyin thefo llowing situations:
R If visibility is poor, e.g. due toinsu1cient illu-
mination of thero ad, highly variable shade
conditions, rain, sno w,fog, swirling dust or
heavy spr ay.
R Ifth ere is glare, e.g. from oncoming tra1c,
direct sunlight or re0ections.
R Ifth e windscreen in the area of the multifunc-
tion camera is dirty, or if the camera is misted
up, damaged or co vered. R
If tra1c signs are di1cult todetect, e.g.
because they are dirty, co vered, faded, co v-
ered with ice, damaged, badly positioned,
poor lylit or twisted.
R Active tra1c signs with LED displa ysmay not
be de tected cor rectly or at all due to technical
fa ctors, such as transmission frequency.
R Ifth e information on the navigation system's
digital map is incor rect, incomple teor out of
date.
R If signs or thero ad la yout is ambiguous, e.g.
tra1c signs in roadwor ks, at exits and ramp s,

Ac tive Parking Assist is an electronic parking
assistance system, which uses ultrasound with
th e assistance of the 360° Camera. When you are
driving forw ards up toappr oximately 35 km/h,
th e system automatically measures parking
spaces on bo thsides of theve hicle.
Ac tive Parking Assist o.ers thefo llowing func-
tions:
R Parking in parking spaces parallel tothero ad
R Parking in parking spaces perpendicular tothe
road (optional lyeither forw ards or reve rse)
R Parking in parking spaces that can only be
de tected as such due tomarkings (for exam-
ple at thero adside)
R Exiting a parking space parallel tothero ad
R Exiting a parking space perpendicular tothe
ro ad (optionally either leT or right)
Ac tive Parking Assist is only an aid. It is not a sub-
stitute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings. The
re sponsibility for safe manoeuvring and parking
re mains with you. Make sure that no persons, ani- mals or objects
etc. are in the manoeuvring
ra nge.
If Ac tive Parking Assist is available, theÇ mes-
sage appears in the driver's displa y.When the
system de tects parking spaces, Èappears.
The ar rows show on which side of thero ad free
parking spaces are located. These are then shown
in the central displa y.
When Active Parking Assist is activated, the turn
signal indicators are activated based on the calcu-
lated path of your vehicle. When you are entering
or exiting a parking space, the procedure is assis-
te dby acceleration, braking, steering and gear
ch anges.
To start the parking procedure, press thec
button (/ page 280).
Ac tive Parking Assist will be cancelled in thefo l-
lowing situations:
R You deactivate Parking Assist PARKTRONIC.
R You press thec button again.
R You begin steering.
R You engage transmission position j.
