If Ac tive Parking Assist is available, theÇ mes-
sage appears in the driver's displa y.When the system de
tects parking spaces, Èappears.
The ar rows show on which side of thero ad free
parking spaces are located. These are then shown
in the central displa y.
When Active Parking Assist is activated, the turn
signal indicators are activated based on the calcu-
lated path of your vehicle. When you are entering
or exiting a parking space, the procedure is assis-
te dby acceleration, braking, steering and gear
ch anges.
To start the parking procedure, press thec
button (/ page 277).
Ac tive Parking Assist will be cancelled in thefo l-
lowing situations:
R You deactivate Parking Assist PARKTRONIC.
R You press thec button again.
R You begin steering.

Objects located abo veor below the de tection
ra nge of Active Parking Assist, suc hasove rhang-
ing loads, overhangs or loading ramp s of goods
ve hicles or the borders of parking spaces, are not
de tected during measurement of the parking
space. These are also then not take n into account
when calculating the parking procedure. In some
circumstances, Active Parking Assist may there-
fo re guide you into the parking space prematurely
or brake too late.
Cer tain environmental conditions, suc has snowfall
or heavy rain, may lead toa parking space being
measured inaccuratel y.Pa rking spaces that are
partial lyoccupied bytrailer dr awbars might not be
identi/ed as such or be measured incor rectl y.

The cross tra1c warning can warnyou of crossing
tra1c when you are exiting a parking space. The
ra dar sensors in the bumper also monitor the area
adjacent totheve hicle.
The cross tra1c warning is active under thefo l-
lowing conditions:
R Warning for crossing traffic behind: theve hi-
cle is driving in reve rse at a speed slo werth an
appr ox. 10 km/h.
R Warning for crossing traffic ahead: theve hi-
cle is driving forw ards at a speed slo werth an
appr ox. 10 km/h and the camera image is
shown in the central display (/ page 270).
The Warning for crossing traffic ahead can be
deactivated or activated in theManoeuvring
assistance menu. Depending on
the countr y,theWarning for cross-
ing traffic behind can also be deactivated or acti-
va ted (/ page 287).
If a critical situation is de tected, thefo llowing
symbol appears in red in the selected view in the
Camera & parking menu: Warning for crossing traffic behind
R The vehicle can be braked automatically when

The manoeuvring brake function can pr event colli-
sions with pedestrians when theve hicle is reve rs-
ing at slow speeds. If there ve rsing camera de
tects a person in theve hicle path, theve hicle
can be braked toa standstill.
The manoeuvring brake function can inter vene

R The vehicle is reve rsing at a speed slo werth an
10 km/h.
R The camera image is shown in the central dis-
play (/ page 270).

deactivate the manoeuvring brake function in the

Memory Parking Assist can park your vehicle
using a pr eviously stored parking space. You can
store parking procedures with a tota l distance of up
to500 m (100 m per parking or exiting proce-
dure).
During parking or exiting, the system can tr avel a
pr ev iously stored path of up toappr oximately
100 m toor out of the desired parking space,
fo rex ample, from the driv eway entrance in tothe
ga rage.
Wi thin a radius of appr ox. 150 m, only one par k-
ing or exiting procedure can be recorded.
Only use Memory Parking Assist on private prop-
erty. Use on public roads, e. g. in public parking
spaces, is not permitted.
Memory Parking Assist is only an aid. It is not a
substitute foryo ur attention tothe sur roundings.
