The rear ben chseat, rear seat and seat bac k-
re st ma yfo ld forw ards, even while theve hicle
is in motion.
R As a result, theve hicle occupant will be
pressed into the seat belt with increased
fo rc e. The seat belt will not be able topro-
te ct as intended and could cause addi-
tional injur y.
R Objects or loads in the boot or load com-
partment cannot be restrained bythe seat
backrest. #
Make sure that there ar ben chseat, the
re ar seat and the seat backrest are
engaged before every trip. If
th e leT and right seat backrests are not
engaged and loc ked in place, this will be shown
on the display on the inst rument displa y. &

To o much load may be placed on the ISOFIX
or i‑Size child restraint systems and thech ild
may not be restrained co rrectly in theev ent of

Ifth ech ild and thech ild restraint system
to get her weigh more than 33 kg, only
use an ISOFIX or i‑Size child restraint
system wi thwhich thech ild is secured
with theve hicle seat belt. #
Also secure thech ild restraint system
wi th th eTo pTe ther belt, if available. Alw
ays comply with the information about the
mass of thech ild restraint system:
R inthe manufacturer's installation and operat-
ing inst ructions forth ech ild restraint system
used
R on a label on thech ild restraint system, if

gula rly ch eck that the permissible gross mass
of thech ild and child restraint system is still com-
plied wi th.
When /tting a child restraint system, obse rvethe

O Always obser vethe cor rect use of the seats
and consider their suitability for attaching a
ch ild restraint system.

opening or closing the soT top when theve hicle is
stationar y.
To open or close the soT top while you are driving,
do not exceed a maximum speed of 50 km/h. To
avo id inter rupting the closing process while you
are slightly exceeding this speed, do not drive at a
speed greater than 60 km/h. #
Make sure that the boot separator is closed. #
Close the boot lid. #
Switch on theve hicle. #
Keep the brake pedal depressed when the
ve hicle is stationar y. #
T To open: o open: pull and hold soT-top switch 1until
th e soT top is fully open.
The instrument display will show the opening
process of the soT top. #
T To close:
o close: press and hold soT-top switch 1
until the soT top is fully closed.
The instrument display will show the closing
process of the soT top. &

sive speed during the soT top opening or
closing procedure
If th eve hicle speed exceeds 60 km/h, the
soT top will stop during the opening or closing
procedure. #
Reduce theve hicle speed tobelow
60 km/h or stop theve hicle in accord-
ance with the tra1c conditions. #
Operate the soT- topswitch again to
open or close the soT top full y. The cur
rent procedure will be stopped at a speed
gr eater than 60 km/h. The message is shown on
th e inst rument displa y. #
Reduce your speed and press or pull soT top
switch 1again.
If th e soT top does not close fully because of
strong headwinds, drive more slo wlyor stop. 88

compartments when you are driving with the soT

Pa rticular lyturbulent air can reduce the e.ect of
AIR CAP.This can occur when you are driving
behind ano ther vehicle or if there is a crosswind,
fo rex ample.
AIR CAP consists of thefo llowing components:

R a draught stop behind the two rear seat head

When AI RCAP is activated, the wind de0ector and
th e draught stop will extend simultaneousl y.AIR

despite there being reve rsing pr otection
on the side window
The reve rsing function does not react:
R tosoT, light and thin objects, e.g. /n gers.
R during resetting. The
reve rsing function cannot pr event some-
one from becoming trapped in these situa-
tions. #
During the closing process, make sure
th at no body parts are in the closing
area. #
If someone becomes trapped, press the
W button toopen the side window

If th e side windo wsare obstructed during auto-
matic closing, the side window concerned will
open again slightl y.ATer an other automatic clos-
ing process, the automatic function may be deac-
tivated. The automatic function will be active

cle is in motion. #
Before starting the engine: adjust the
driver's seat, head restraints, stee ring
wheel and mir ror in particular and fasten
yo ur seat belt. Ensure
thefo llowing when adjusting steering
wheel 1, seat belt 2and driver's seat 3:
R You are sitting as farawa y from the driver's
airbag as possible, taking thefo llowing points
into consideration:
R You are sitting in an upright position
R Your thighs are slightly suppor tedby the seat
cushion R
Your legs are not fully extended and you can
depress the pedals proper ly
R The back of your head is suppor ted at eye
le ve lby the centre of the head restraint
R You can hold the steering wheel with your
arms slightly bent

R Your seat belt sits snugly against your body
and passes across the centre of your shoulder

Re peatedly switching on the seat heating can
cause the seat cushion and seat backrest pad-
ding tobecome very hot.
In particular, the health of persons with limited
te mp erature sensitivity or a limited ability to
re act tohigh temp eratures may be a.ected or
th ey may even su.er burn-like injuries. #
Do not repeatedly switch on the seat
heating. To
protect against overheating, the seat heating
may be temp orarily deactivated aTer it has been
switched on repeatedl y.

neck area of vehicle occupants. The warm air
0o ws out of theve nts in the head restraints. #
Press button 1repeatedly until the desired
heating le vel is set.
Depending on the heating le vel, up tothree
indicator lamps will light up. If all the indicator
lamps are o., AIRSCARF is switched o.. %
When switching on, the blo wer will start up
only aTer a preheating phase lasting a few
seconds.
ATer switching o., the blo wer will continue to
ru nfo r a few seconds tocool down the heat-
ing elements.
% Ifth eve hicle battery voltage is too lo w,AIR-
SCARF may switch o.. #
Adjust the AIRSCARF vent (/ page 154).
Make sure that no objects are co vering the air
inlet grille on the back of the head restraints.
