Liftgate open
To open:
1. Make sure you have the smart key
in your possession.
2. Either press the switch inside the liftgate emblem or press the lift-
gate open button (3) on the smart
key for more than one second.
3. Once the liftgate is opened and then closed, the liftgate will lock
automatically.
✽ ✽NOTICE
The Liftgate unlock will only oper-
ate If you are within 28~40 inches
(0.7~1 m) from the outside liftgate
handle.
Panic alarm
Press and hold the panic alarm but-
ton (4) for more than one second.
The horn sounds and hazard warn-
ing lights flash for 30 seconds. To
cancel the panic mode, press any
button on the smart key.

Your vehicle is equipped with an
electronic engine immobilizer system
to reduce the risk of unauthorized
vehicle use.
Whenever the ENGINE START/STOP
button is changed to the ON position,
the immobilizer system checks and
verifies if the key is valid or not.
If the key is valid, the engine will
start.
If the key is invalid, the engine will
not start.
✽ ✽NOTICE
In order to prevent theft of your
vehicle, do not leave spare keys any-
where in your vehicle. Your
Immobilizer password is a customer
unique password and should be kept
confidential. Do not leave this num-
ber anywhere in your vehicle.

This system is designed to provide
protection from unauthorized entry
into the vehicle. This system is oper-
ated in three stages: the first is the
“Armed” stage, the second is the
“Theft-alarm” stage, and the third is
the “Disarmed” stage. If triggered,
the system provides an audible
alarm with blinking of the hazard
warning lights.
Armed stage
Park the vehicle and stop the engine.
Arm the system as described below.
Using the folding key
1. Turn off the engine and remove theignition key from the ignition
switch.
2. Make sure that all doors, the engine hood and liftgate are
closed and latched.
3. Lock the doors by pressing the lock button on the transmitter.
After completion of the steps
above, the hazard warning lights
will blink once to indicate that the
system is armed.
If the liftgate or engine hood
remains opened, the hazard warn-
ing lights will not operate and
theft-alarm will not arm. After this,
if the liftgate and engine hood are
closed, the hazard warning lights
will blink once and the theft-alarm
will arm.

the alarm may be activated when

liftgate) or engine hood is opened
within 30 seconds after the sys-
tem enters the armed stage, the
system will be disarmed to pre-
vent unnecessary alarm.Theft-alarm stage
The alarm will be activated if any of
the following occurs while the system
is armed.
A front or rear door is opened with-
out using the transmitter (or smart
key).
The liftgate is opened without using the transmitter (or smart
key).
The engine hood is opened.
The horn will sound and the hazard
warning lights will blink continuously
for approximately 27 seconds. To
turn off the system, unlock the doors
with the transmitter (or smart key).

Disarmed stage
The system will be disarmed when:
Folding key
- The door unlock button is pressed.
- The engine is started. (within 3seconds)
- The ignition switch is in the “ON” position for 30 seconds or more.
Smart key
- The door unlock button is pressed.
- The button of the front outside dooris pressed while carrying the smart
key.
- The engine is started. (within 3 seconds)
After the doors are unlocked, the
hazard warning lights will blink twice
to indicate that the system is dis-
armed.
After pressing the unlock button, if
any door (or liftgate) is not opened
within 30 seconds, the system will be
rearmed.
✽ ✽ NOTICE
• Without smart key system
If the system is not disarmed with
the transmitter, insert the key into
the ignition switch and start the
engine. Then the system will be
disarmed.
• With smart key system If the system is not disarmed with
the smart key, open the door with
the mechanical key and start the
engine. Then the system will be
disarmed.
• If you lose your keys, Kia recom- mends to visit an authorized Kia
dealer/service partner.CAUTION
Do not change, alter or adjust the
theft-alarm system because itcould cause the theft-alarm sys-tem to malfunction have the sys-tem serviced by a professionalworkshop. Kia recommends tovisit an authorized Kiadealer/service partner.

Power windows
The ignition switch or ENGINE
START/STOP button must be in the
ON position for power windows to
operate.
Each door has a power window
switch that controls the door's win-
dow. The driver has a power window
lock button which can block the oper-
ation of rear passenger windows.
The power windows can be operated
for approximately 30 seconds after
the engine is turned off.
However, if the front doors are
opened, the power windows cannot
be operated even within the 30 sec-
ond period.
The driver’s door has a master power
window switch that controls all the
windows in the vehicle.
If the window cannot be closed
because it is blocked by objects,
remove the objects and close the
window.
✽ ✽
NOTICE
While driving with the rear windows
down or with the sunroof (if
equipped) in an open (or partially
open) position, your vehicle may
demonstrate a wind buffeting or
pulsation noise. This noise is a nor-
mal occurrence and can be reduced
or eliminated by taking the follow-
ing actions. If the noise occurs with
one or both of the rear windows
down, partially lower both front
windows approximately 1 inch (2.5
cm). If you experience the noise with
the sunroof open, slightly reduce the
size of the sunroof opening.
Window opening and closing
To open or close a window, press
down or pull up the front portion of
the corresponding switch to the first
detent position (5).

in the vehicle that extend intothe open window area. Suchobjects will impact the properfunction of the Automatic rever-sal “jam protection” feature.

Opening the hood
1. Pull the release lever to unlatch
the hood. The hood should pop
open slightly.
Open the hood after turning off the
engine on a flat surface, shifting the
shift lever to the P (Park) position
and setting the parking brake. 2. Go to the front of the vehicle, raise
the hood slightly, push the second-
ary latch (1) upward inside of the
hood center and lift the hood (2).
3. Raise the hood. It will completely rise by itself after it has been
raised about halfway. 4. Pull out the stay rod.
5. Hold the hood opened with the
stay rod (1).

WARNING - Stay Rod
To prevent injuries from being burned by hot metal, grab the
stay rod in the area wrapped in
rubber.
Ensure that the stay rod is completely inserted into the
hole on the hood whenever you
inspect the engine compart-
ment. This will prevent the
hood from falling and possibly
injuring you.

The warning message will appear on
the LCD display when hood is open.
The warning chime will operate when
the vehicle is being driven at or
above 2 mph (3 km/h) with the hood
open.
Closing the hood
1. Before closing the hood, check thefollowing:

Before closing the hood, ensure that all obstructions areremoved from the hood open-ing. Closing the hood with anobstruction present in the hoodopening may result in propertydamage.
