Driving
When you turn the Road Departure Mitigation
on and off, do the following.
1. Press the safety support switch.
2. Roll the right selector wheel to the
symbol and push it.
u The message appears on the driver
information interface when the system
becomes on or off.
u A check mark appears in the box and the
color of the symbol changes green
when the system is on. The check mark
disappears and the color of the
symbol changes gray when the system is
off.
The Road Departure Mitigation is in the
previously selected on (checked) or off
(unchecked) setting each time you start the
engine.

When you have selected Warning Only from the
customized options using the audio/information
screen, the system does not operate the steering

The vehicle stability assist
TM (VSA ®) system, adaptive
cruise control (ACC) with low speed follow, safety
support and low tire pressu re/TPMS indicators may
come on in amber along with a message in the driver
information interface when you set the power mode
to ON after reconnecting the battery.
Drive a short distance at more than 12 mph (20
km/h).
Each indicator should go off. If any do not, have your
vehicle checked by a dealer.

uuBattery uCharging the AGM Battery
Maintenance
Charging the AGM Battery
AGM labeled batteries like those installed in your vehicle require a compatible
charger to be properly charged. Damage to the battery can result if the battery is
charged improperly or with the wrong equi pment. For more information on how to
charge your vehicle’s AGM battery, consult a dealer.1 Battery
The battery installed in this vehicle is specifically
designed for a model wi th Auto Idle Stop.
Using a battery other than this specified type may
shorten the battery life, a nd prevent Auto Idle Stop
from activating. If you need to replace the battery,
make sure to select the specified type and size. Ask a
dealer for more details.
The indicators for the Vehicle Stability Assist
TM (VSA ®)
system, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) with Low
Speed Follow, safety suppo rt, and low tire pressure/
TPMS may come on after reconnecting the battery.

5.Connect the other end of the second
jumper cable to the ground bolt as shown.
Do not connect this jumper cable to any
other part.
6. If your vehicle is connected to another
vehicle, start the assisting vehicle’s engine
and increase its rpm slightly.
7. Attempt to start your ve hicle’s engine. If it
turns over slowly, check that the jumper
cables have good metal-to-metal contact.
Once your vehicle’s engine has started, re move the jumper cables in the following
order.
1. Disconnect the jumper cable from your vehicle’s ground.
2. Disconnect the other end of the jump er cable from the booster battery -
terminal.
3. Disconnect the jumper cable from your vehicle’s battery + terminal.
4. Disconnect the other end of the jump er cable from the booster battery +
terminal.
Have your vehicle inspected by a n earby service station or a dealer.

7. Select a nearby, lightly traveled major hi ghway where you can maintain a speed
of 50 to 60 mph (80 to 97 km/h) for at least 20 minutes.
Do not use cruise control and perform the following when traffic allows.
When stopped before entering the highway, use paddle shifters.
During acceleration up to speed, target 5,500 to 6,500 engine rpm continuously
for at least 10 seconds.
Then shift to
(D range and drive for 90 seconds without moving the accelerator
pedal. (Vehicle speed may vary slightly; this is okay.)
If you cannot do this for a continuous 90 seconds because of traffic conditions,
drive for at least 30 seconds, then repeat it two more times (for a total of 90
seconds).
8. Drive in city or suburban traffic for at le ast 10 minutes. When traffic conditions
allow, let the vehicle coast for several se conds without using the accelerator pedal
or the brake pedal.
9. Park the vehicle and leave the engine off for 30 minutes.
