Adjusting the passenger seat from the driver's seat *
The front passenger seat can be adjusted from the driver's seat.
Activating the functionThe function is activated via the function view in the center display:
Tap the
Adjust Passenger
Seat button to activate.
Adjust passenger seatThe driver must adjust the passenger seat within 10 seconds of activating the function. Ifno adjustment is made within this time, thefunction will be deactivated. The driver adjusts the passenger seat using the controls on the driver's seat:
Move the passenger seat forward/rear- ward by moving the control forward/rear-ward.
Change the backrest tilt of the passenger seat by moving the control forward/back-ward.

Steering wheel adjuster lever.
1. Move the lever forward to release the
steering wheel.
2. Adjust the steering wheel to the desired position.
3. Pull the lever back to lock the steering wheel into place. If the lever is difficult to move, press or lift the steering wheellightly while pulling the lever.

The seats can be heated for added comfort for the driver and passengers in cold weather.
1. Tap the left- or right-side steering wheel and seat button in the center display's cli- mate bar to open the controls for steeringwheel and seat heating. If the vehicle is not equipped with ventila- ted seats or heated steering wheel (for thedriver's side), the button for seat heating isdirectly accessible in the climate bar.
2. Tap the seat heating button repeatedly to
select one of the four levels: Off, High,Medium or Low.
> The level is changed and the set level is displayed in the button.

Driver support systems
The vehicle is equipped with a number of driver support systems that can provide thedriver with active or passive assistance in var-ious situations.
The systems can, for example, help the driver:
maintain a set speed
maintain a set time interval to the vehicle ahead
help prevent a collision by warning thedriver and applying the brakes
park the vehicle.
Some of the systems are standard and othersare options. This also varies from market tomarket.

Speed-dependent steering wheel resistance Speed-dependent power steering increases the steering wheel resistance in pace withthe vehicle's speed, which can help give thedriver an enhanced feeling of control and sta-bility. Steering is stiffer on highways. Whenparking and at low speeds, it will be easier tomove the steering wheel.
Reduced powerIn rare situations, the power steering may need to work at reduced power and the steer-ing wheel may then feel more difficult tomove. This may happen when the powersteering becomes too hot and needs to betemporarily cooled. It can also happen if thereis a disturbance in power supply.
If there is reduced power, the message

Changing the level of steering wheel resistance *

Steering wheel resistance settings can only be accessed if the vehicle is stationary or is mov-ing straight ahead at a low speed.

Electronic Stability Control
The Electronic Stability Control (ESC 1
) func-
tion helps the driver avoid skidding and improves the vehicle's directional stability.
This symbol will be displayed in the instrument panel whenthe system is intervening. When the system has inter- vened to apply the brakes, apulsing sound may be heard
and the vehicle may accelerate more slowlythan expected when the accelerator pedal isdepressed.
The system consists of the following sub-func- tions:
Stability control 2
Spin control and active yaw control
Engine drag control
Trailer Stability Assist
WARNING
The function is supplementary driver support intended to facilitate drivingand help make it safer – it cannot han-dle all situations in all traffic, weatherand road conditions.
The driver is advised to read all sec-tions in the Owner's Manual about thisfunction to learn of its limitations,which the driver must be aware ofbefore using the function.
Driver support functions are not a sub-stitute for the driver's attention andjudgment. The driver is always respon-sible for ensuring the vehicle is drivenin a safe manner, at the appropriatespeed, with an appropriate distance toother vehicles, and in accordance withcurrent traffic rules and regulations.
Stability control 2This function helps control the driving andbraking force of each individual wheel in anattempt to stabilize the vehicle.
Spin control and active yaw controlThis function is active at low speeds andbrakes the wheels that are spinning to transfer

information from map data, which could cause variations in performance.
Pilot Assist will be switched off if thespeed-dependent power steeringwheel resistance is working at reducedpower, e.g. during cooling due to over-heating.
WARNING
Pilot Assist should only be used if there are clear lane lines painted on each side of thelane. All other use will increase the risk ofcontact with nearby obstacles that cannotbe detected by the functions.
WARNING
This is not a collision avoidance sys- tem. The driver is always responsibleand must intervene if the system failsto detect a vehicle ahead.
The function does not brake for peopleor animals and does not brake for smallvehicles, such as bikes and motorcy-cles. Similarly, it does not brake for lowtrailers, oncoming, slow-moving or sta-tionary vehicles and objects.
Do not use the function in demandingsituations, such as in city traffic, atintersections, on slippery surfaces,with a lot of water or slush on the road,in heavy rain/snow, in poor visibility, onwinding roads, or on on/off ramps.
The driver can always correct or adjust steer-ing assistance provided by Pilot Assist by turn-ing the steering wheel to the desired position.
Steep roads and/or heavy loadsPilot Assist is primarily intended to be drivenon flat roads. The function may not be able tomaintain the correct time interval to the vehi-cle ahead when driving down steep hills. Thedriver should be extra attentive and preparedto apply the brakes. Do not use Pilot Assist if the vehicle is carryinga heavy load or towing a trailer.
NOTE
Pilot Assist cannot be activated if a trailer, bike carrier or similar is connected to thevehicle electrical system.
Drive mode unavailableThe Off Road drive mode cannot be selected
when Pilot Assist is activated.

Selecting type of assistance for Lane Keeping Aid
The driver can determine what types of assis- tance Lane Keeping Aid (LKA 71
) should pro-
vide if the vehicle veers from its lane.

Assist the driver will receive steering
assistance but no warning.
Warning – the driver is only warned
through vibrations in the steering wheel.
Both – the driver receives steering
assistance and a warning through vibrations in the steering wheel.

Lane Keeping Aid limitations
In certain demanding driving conditions, Lane Keeping Aid (LKA 72
) may not be able to prop-
erly assist the driver. In these situations, it is recommended that the function be deacti-vated.
Examples of such situations include:
road work
winter driving conditions
poor road surfaces
a very sporty driving style
bad weather with reduced visibility
roads with indistinct or no lane markings
sharp edges or lines other than the lane's side markings
when speed-dependent power steeringwheel resistance is working at reducedpower – e.g. during cooling due to over-heating.
The function cannot detect barriers, railings orsimilar obstacles at the side of the lane.

can assist the driver by auto-
matically braking the vehicle when it is not possible to avoid a collision by steering alone.
City Safety assists the driver by periodically attempting to predict possible "escaperoutes" to the sides of the vehicle in the eventa slow-moving or stationary vehicle were to bedetected at a late stage.
Your vehicle (1) cannot detect any potential escape routes for veering away from the vehicle ahead (2)and may therefore apply the brakes at an earlierstage.
