How safely you drive doesn't depend on how old you are but rather on: How well you see.
Your ability to concentrate.
How quickly you make decisions understress to avoid an accident.
The following suggestions are intended tohelp you cope with the ever changing trafficenvironment. Never drink and drive.
If you are taking any medication, consult your physician about its potential effects on your driving abilities.
Take a driver-retraining course.
Have your eyes checked regularly.
Keep your windshield and headlights clean.
Replace wiper blades when they start toleave streaks.
Take into account the traffic, road, andweather conditions, particularly withregard to stopping distance.
Never text while driving.

If you believe that your vehicle has a defect which could cause a crash orcould cause injury or death, youshould immediately inform theNational Highway Traffic SafetyAdministration (NHTSA) in additionto notifying Volvo Car USA, LLC. IfNHTSA receives similar complaints,it may open an investigation, and if itfinds that a safety defect exists in agroup of vehicles, it may order arecall and remedy campaign. How-ever, NHTSA cannot becomeinvolved in individual problemsbetween you, your retailer, or VolvoCar USA, LLC. To contact NHTSA,you may either call the Auto SafetyHotline tollfree at 1-888-327-4236

NOTE
When the ignition is switched on, the OWS indicator light will illuminate for sev-eral seconds while the system performs aself-diagnostic test.
However, if a fault is detected in the system:
The OWS indicator light will stay on
The SRS warning light will come on and stay on and a text message will be dis-played.
WARNING
If a fault in the system is detected and indi- cated as described, be aware that the pas-senger's side front airbag will not deploy inthe event of a collision. In this case, theSRS system and Occupant Weight Sensorshould be inspected by a trained and quali-fied Volvo service technician as soon aspossible.
WARNING
Never try to open, remove or repair any components in the OWS system. Thiscould cause the system to malfunction.Maintenance or repairs should only becarried out by an a trained and qualifiedVolvo service technician.
The front passenger's seat should notbe modified in any way. This couldreduce pressure on the seat cushion,which might interfere with the OWSsystem's function.

Volvo recommends that children always be properly restrained in appropriate child restraints in the rear seats.Do not assume that the passenger's side front airbag is dis-abled unless the PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF indicator lampis lit. Make sure the child restraint is properly installed. Ifthere is any doubt as to the status of the passenger's sidefront airbag, move the child restraint to the rear seat.
The OWS is designed to enable (may inflate) the passenger's side front airbag in the eventof a collision anytime the system senses that aperson of adult size is sitting properly in thefront passenger's seat. The PASSENGER AIR-BAG OFF indicator lamp will be off andremain off. If a person of adult size is sitting in the front passenger's seat, but the PASSENGER AIR-

Red symbols
WARNING The red warning symbol illumi- nates to indicate that a fault hasbeen detected that could affectsafety or driveability. An explana-tory message will be simultane-ously displayed in the instrumentpanel. The warning symbol may also illuminate in combination withother symbols.

High engine temperature The engine's temperature is too high. Read the message in theinstrument panel.
Collision risk City Safety warns the driver if there is a risk of a collision withanother vehicle, pedestrian,cyclist or large animal.
Low oil pressure The engine's oil pressure is too low. Stop the engine immedi-ately and check the engine oillevel. Add oil if necessary. If this symbol lights up and the oil level is normal, read the mes-sage in the instrument panel andcontact a workshop. Volvo rec-ommends contacting an author-ized Volvo workshop.

Rear fog light Rear fog light on.
Tire pressure system Tire pressure low. If there is a fault in the tire pres- sure system, the symbol will firstflash for approximately 1 minuteand then glow steadily. This mayoccur if the system cannot detector alert the driver of low tire pres-sure as intended.
Fault in headlight system A fault has occurred in the head- light system. Read the messagein the instrument panel.
Lane Keeping Aid Lane Keeping Aid is alerting/ intervening.
