■Parking lights (bulb type) (if equipped)
Remove the clips and the engine compartment cover.
There are two types of clips used, which vary depending on the vehicle.
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing the bulb, reverse the steps and in reverse.
Attach the engine compart-
ment cover and install the
clips.
Push up center portion of the
clips (type A only).
Insert and press the clips.

■Front side marker lightsFor the right side only:
Remove the clip and slide
the washer tank inlet pipe to
the right.
To prevent damage to the cover,
protect the tip of the screwdriver
with a rag.
Turn the bulb base counter-
clockwise.
Remove the light bulb.
When installing the bulb, revers e the steps and in reverse.
For the right side only: Install
the washer tank inlet pipe
and the clip by conducting
step in reverse.

■Rear turn signal lights, back-up lights and rear side maker
lightsOpen the back door. Insert a
screwdriver into the cover on
the side of the light and
detach the claws indicated by
the dotted lines near the
exterior of the vehicle. Then,
pry the cover and pull it diag-
onally backward to the lug-
gage compartment to detach
the claws indicated by the
dotted lines near the vehicle
interior.
To prevent damage to the cover, protect the tip of the screwdri ver with a
rag.
Remove the 2 screws.
Pull the light unit toward the
rear of the vehicle to remove
it.

Maintenance and care
■Replacing the following bulbs
If any of the lights listed below has burnt out, have it replaced by
your Toyota dealer.
● Headlights and daytime running lights
● Parking lights (LED type: if equipped)
● Fog lights
● Front turn signal lights
● Tail lights
● Stop lights
● High mounted stoplight
● License plate lights
■LED lights
The lights other than the parking lights (bulb type: if equippe d), front side
marker lights, rear turn signal lights, rear side maker lights and back-up lights
each consist of a number of LEDs. If any of the LEDs burn out, take your
vehicle to your Toyota dealer to have the light replaced.
■ Condensation build-up on the inside of the lens
Temporary condensation build-up on the inside of the headlight lens does not
indicate a malfunction. Contact your Toyota dealer for more information in the
following situations:
● Large drops of water have built up on the inside of the lens.
● Water has built up inside the light.

WARNING
■Replacing light bulbs
● Be sure to stop the hybrid system and turn off the lights. Do not attempt to
replace the bulb immediately after turning off the lights.
The bulbs become very hot and may cause burns.
● Do not touch the glass portion of the light bulb with bare hands. When it is
unavoidable to hold the glass portion, use and hold with a clea n dry cloth
to avoid getting moisture and oils on the bulb.
Also, if the bulb is scratched or dropped, it may blow out or crack.
● Fully install light bulbs and any parts used to secure them. Fa ilure to do so
may result in heat damage, fire, or water entering the headligh t unit. This
may damage the headlights or cause condensation to build up on the lens.
● Do not attempt to repair or disassemble light bulbs, connectors , electric
circuits or component parts.
Doing so may result in death or serious injury due to electric shock.
■ To prevent damage or fire
● Make sure bulbs are fully seated and locked.
● Check the wattage of the bulb before installing to prevent heat damage.

Emergency flashers
Press the switch.
All the turn signal lights will flash. To turn them off, press the switch once
again.
■ Emergency flashers
●If the emergency flashers are used for a long time while the hy brid system is
not operating (while the “READY” indicator is not illuminated), the 12-volt
battery may discharge.
● If any of the SRS airbags deploy (inflate) or in the event of a strong rear
impact, the emergency flashers will turn on automatically.
The emergency flashers will turn off automatically after operating for approx-
imately 20 minutes. To manually turn the emergency flashers off, press the
switch twice.
(The emergency flashers may not turn on automatically depending on the
force of the impact and conditions of the collision.)
The emergency flashers are used to warn other drivers when the
vehicle has to be stopped in the road due to a breakdown, etc.

When trouble arises
Driver’s and front passenger’s seat belt reminder light
(warning buzzer)

Warns the driver and/or front passenger to fasten their
seat belts
 Fasten the seat belt.
If the front passenger’s seat is occupied, the front
passenger’s seat belt also needs to be fastened to
make the warning light (warning buzzer) turn off.

Rear passengers’ seat belt reminder lights (warning
buzzer)

Warns the rear passengers to fasten their seat belts
 Fasten the seat belt.
Master warning light
A buzzer sounds and the warning light comes on and
flashes to indicate that the master warning system has
detected a malfunction.

Tire pressure warning light
When the light comes on:
Low tire inflation pressure such as
• Natural causes ( P. 5 9 9 )
• Flat tire ( P. 611, 631)
 Adjust the tire inflation pressure to the specified
level.
The light will turn off after a few minutes. In case
the light does not turn off even if the tire inflation
pressure is adjusted, have the system checked by
your Toyota dealer.
When the light comes on after blinking for 1 minute:
Malfunction in t he tire pressure warning system

 Have the system checked by your Toyota dealer.

“AFS OFF” indicator
Indicates a malfunction in the adaptive front-lighting sys-
tem
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
