Indicators/buzzers• Do the indicators and buzzers function prop-erly?
Lights• Do all the lights come on?
Parking brake
• Does the parking brake pedal movesmoothly?
• When parked on a slope and the parking brake is on, is the vehicle securely stopped?
Seat belts• Do the seat belts operate smoothly?
• The seat belts should not be damaged.
Seats• Do the seat controls operate properly?
Steering wheel

When using a flatbed truck to transport the vehicle, use tire strapping
belts. Refer to the owner’s manual of the flatbed truck for the tire
strapping method.
In order to suppress vehicle movement during transportation, se t the
parking brake and turn the power switch off.
If a tow truck is not available in an emergency, your vehicle m ay be
temporarily towed using cables or chains secured to the emergen cy
towing eyelets. This should only be attempted on hard surfaced roads
for short distances at under 18 mph (30 km/h).
A driver must be in the vehicle to steer and operate the brakes . The
vehicle’s wheels, drive train, a xles, steering and brakes must be in
good condition.

When trouble arises
To have your vehicle towed by another vehicle, the towing eyelet must
be installed to your vehicle. Install the towing eyelet using t he follow-
ing procedure.
Take out the wheel nut wre nch and towing eyelet. (P. 613, 632)
Remove the eyelet cover using
a flathead screwdriver.
To protect the bodywork, place a
rag between the screwdriver and
the vehicle body as shown in the
illustration.
Insert the towing eyelet into the
hole and tighten partially by
hand.
Tighten down the towing eyelet
securely using a wheel nut
wrench or hard metal bar.
When tightening with a wheel nut
wrench or hard metal bar, make
sure not to damage the vehicle
body.
Securely attach cables or c hains to the towing eyelet.
Take care not to damage the vehicle body.
Enter the vehicle being towed and start the hybrid system.
If the hybrid system does not start, turn the power switch to O N mode.
Turn off the Parking Support Brake function. (if equipped): P. 375

Shift the shift position to N* and release the parking brake.
*: If the shift position cannot be changed or the current shift position
can not be confirmed, contact your Toyota dealer or commercial tow-
ing service before towing.
■ While towing
If the hybrid system is off, the power assist for the brakes an d steering will not
function, making steering and braking more difficult.
■ Wheel nut wrench
Wheel nut wrench is installed in luggage compartment. (P. 613, 632)
■ Towing eyelet installation hole on the rear of the vehicle
The hole is equipped for fastening the
vehicle while shipping. Your vehicle can-
not tow another vehicle.

Slip indicator lightIndicates a malfunction in:
• The VSC system;
• The TRAC system; or
• The hill-start assist control system
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately.
The light will flash when the ABS, VSC or TRAC system is
operating.
High coolant temperature warning light • When the light flashes:
Indicates that the engine coolant temperature is too high
The light changes from a flashing to a solid light when
the temperature further increases
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place. ( P. 656)
• When the light comes on without flashing: Indicates a malfunction in the exhaust heat recirculator
system
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately.

(If equipped)
PKSB OFF indicator
Indicates a malfunction in the Parking Support Brake func-
tion
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
The warning light will operate as follows, even when the
system is not malfunctioning:
• The light will come on when the Parking Support Brake function is turned off ( P. 375)
• The light will come on when the Parking Support Brake function is operating ( P. 379)
• The light will flash when the system cannot be temporar- ily used ( P. 383)
Open door warning light (warning buzzer)*3
Indicates that a door is not fully closed
Check that all the doors are closed.
Low fuel level warning light
Indicates that remaining fuel is approximately 1.7 gal.
(6.4 L, 1.4 Imp.gal.) or less
Refuel the vehicle.

Brake Override SystemIndicates that the accelerator and brake pedals are being
depressed simultaneously, and the Brake Override Sys-
tem is operating
Release the accelerator pedal and depress the brake
pedal.
Indicates a malfunction in the Brake Override System
(with warning buzzer)
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately.
Drive-Start Control Indicates that the shift position was changed and Drive-
Start Control was operated while depressing the accelera-
tor pedal (with warning buzzer)
Momentarily release the accelerator pedal.
Indicates a malfunction in the Drive-Start Control (with
warning buzzer)
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer
immediately.
Parking Support Brake function Indicates that the Parking Support Brake function (if
equipped) is operating ( P. 379)
Follow the instruction that is displayed on the multi-
information display.

Low engine oil pressure warning (symbol display)*6
Indicates that the engine oil pressure is too low
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and con-

When trouble arises
■Warning messages
The warning messages explained below may differ from the actual messages
according to operation conditions and vehicle specifications.
■ System warning lights
The master warning light does not come on or flash in the following cases.
Instead, a separate system warning light will come on along wit h a message
or image shown on the multi-information display.
● “Antilock Brake System Malfunction Visit Your Dealer”:
The ABS warning light comes on. ( P. 593)
● “Braking Power Low Visit Your Dealer”:
The brake system warning light (yellow) will come on. ( P. 592)
● Indicates that a door is not fully closed while the vehicle is stopped.:
The Open door warning light comes on. ( P. 594)
■ If “Visit Your Dealer” is shown
The system or part shown on the multi-information display is malfunctioning.
Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota dealer.
■ If a message about an operation is shown
● If a message about an operation of the accelerator pedal or bra ke pedal is
shown
• A warning message about an operation of the brake pedal may be shown
while the driving assist systems such as PCS (Pre-Collision System) (if
equipped) or the dynamic radar cruise control with full-speed r ange (if
equipped) is operating. If a warning message is shown, be sure to decel-
erate the vehicle or follow an instruction shown on the multi-i nformation
display.
• A warning message is shown when Brake Override System operates .
( P. 229, 608)
• A warning message is shown when Drive-Start Control or Parking Sup-
port Brake function (if equipped) operates ( P. 230, 379). Follow the
instructions on the multi-information display.
● If a message about an operation of the power switch is shown
An instruction for operation of the power switch is shown when the incorrect
procedure for starting the hybrid system is performed or the power switch is
operated incorrectly. Follow the instructions shown on the mult i-information
display to operate the power switch again.
● If a message about a shift operation is shown
To prevent the shift position from being selected incorrectly o r the vehicle
from moving unexpectedly, the shift position may be changed aut omatically
( P. 257) or shift operation may be required. In this case, chang e the shift
position following the instructions on the multi-information display.
● If a message or image about an open/close state of a part or replenishment
of a consumable is shown
Confirm the part indicated by the multi-information display or a warning light,
and then perform the coping method such as closing the open doo r or
replenishing a consumable.
