Automatic air conditioning system
This illustration is for a left-hand drive vehicle. Some button positions
differ for right-hand drive vehicles.
QAdjusting the fan speed setting
Press to increase the fan speed and to decrease the
fan speed.
Press to turn the fan off.
QAdjusting the temperature setting
Turn clockwise (warm) or counterclockwise (cool).
If is not pressed, the system will blow ambient temperature air or
heated air.
: If equipped
Air outlets and fan speed are automatically adjusted according
to the temperature setting.

QAdjusting the temperature for driver and passenger seats sep-
arately (“DUAL” mode)
To turn on the “DUAL” mode, perform the following either operation:
O Press .
O Turn clockwise (warm) or counterclockwise (cool) to adjust
the temperature.
The indicator comes on when the “DUAL” mode is on.
QSwitching between outside air and recirculated air modes
Press .
The mode switches between outside air mode (indicator off) and recir-
culated air mode (indicator on) each time the button is pressed.
QDefogging the windshield
Press .
The dehumidification function operates and fan speed increases.
Set to the outside air mode if the recirculated air mode is used. (It
may switch automatically.)
To defog the windshield and the side windows early, turn the air flow and
temperature up.
To return to the previous mode, press again when the windshield is
defogged.
The indicator illuminates when the windshield dehumidification
function is on.

QUsing automatic mode
Fan speed is adjusted automatically according to the temperature setting and
the ambient conditions.
Therefore, the fan may stop for a while until warm or cool air is ready to flow
immediately after is pressed.
Q Fogging up of the windows
O The windows will easily fog up when the humidity in the vehicle is high.
Turning on will dehumidify the air from the outlets and defog the wind-
shield effectively.
O If you turn off, the windows may fog up more easily.
O The windows may fog up if the recirculated air mode is used.
Q When driving on dusty roads
Close all windows. If dust thrown up by the vehicle is still drawn into the vehi-
cle after closing the windows, it is recommended that the air intake mode be
set to outside air mode and the fan speed to any setting except off.
Q Outside/recirculated air mode
O Setting to the recirculated air mode temporarily is recommended in prevent-
ing dirty air from entering the vehicle interior and helping to cool the vehicle
when the outside air temperature is high.
O Outside/recirculated air mode may automatically switch depending on the
temperature setting or the inside temperature.
Q Operation of the air conditioning system in Eco drive mode (if equipped)
O In Eco drive mode, the air conditioning system is controlled as follows to pri-
oritize fuel efficiency:
• Engine speed and compressor operation controlled to restrict heating/
cooling capacity
• Fan speed restricted when automatic mode is selected
O To improve air conditioning performance, perform the following operations.
• Adjust the fan speed
• Turn off Eco drive mode
• Adjust the temperature setting
Q When the outside temperature falls to nearly 0°C (32°F)
The dehumidification function may not operate even when is pressed.

Turns the steering wheel heater
on/off
The indicator light comes on when
the heater is operating.
The heated steering wheel can be used when the engine switch is in the “ON”
position (vehicles without smart entry & start system) or IGNITION ON mode
(vehicles with smart entry & start system).
QFront seats
Turns on the front left seat

The indicator light comes on.
Turns on the front right seat
heater
The indicator light comes on.

Q Wheels and wheel ornaments
O Remove any dirt immediately by using a neutral detergent.
O Wash detergent off with water immediately after use.
O To protect the paint from damage, make sure to observe the following pre-
cautions.
• Do not use acidic, alkaline or abrasive detergent
• Do not use hard brushes
• Do not use detergent on the wheels when they are hot, such as after driv-
ing or parking in hot weather
Q Brake pads and calipers
Rust may form if the vehicle is parked with wet brake pads or disc rotors,
causing them to stick, or causing noi ses or vibrations. Before parking the
vehicle after it is washed, drive slowly and apply the brakes several times to
dry the parts.
Q Bumpers
Do not scrub with abrasive cleaners.
Q Plated portions
If dirt cannot be removed, clean the parts as follows:
O Use a soft cloth dampened with an approximately 5% solution of neutral
detergent and water to clean the dirt off.
O Wipe the surface with a dry, soft cloth to remove any remaining moisture.
O To remove oily deposits, use alcohol wet wipes or a similar product.
WARNING
QWhen washing the vehicle
Do not apply water to the inside of the engine compartment. Doing so may
cause the electrical components etc. to catch fire.
Q Precautions regarding the exhaust pipe
Exhaust gases cause the exhaust pipe to become quite hot.
When washing the vehicle, be careful not to touch the pipe until it has
cooled sufficiently, as touching a hot exhaust pipe can cause burns.

QCaring for leather areas
Toyota recommends cleaning the interior of the vehicle at least twice a year to
maintain the quality of the vehicle’s interior.
Q Shampooing the carpets
There are several commercial foaming-type cleaners available. Use a sponge
or brush to apply the foam. Rub in overlapping circles. Do not use water.
Wipe dirty surfaces and let them dry. Excellent results are obtained by keep-
ing the carpet as dry as possible.
Q Seat belts
Clean with mild soap and lukewarm water using a cloth or sponge. Also
check the belts periodically for excessive wear, fraying or cuts.
WARNING
Q Water in the vehicle
O Do not splash or spill liquid in the vehicle.
Doing so may cause electrical components etc. to malfunction or catch
fire.
O Do not get any of the SRS components or wiring in the vehicle interior wet.

An electrical malfunction may cause the airbags to deploy or not function
properly, resulting in death or serious injury.
Q Cleaning the interior (especially instrument panel)
Do not use polish wax or polish cleaner. The instrument panel may reflect
off the windshield, obstructing the driver’s view and leading to an accident,
resulting in death or serious injury.

In order to maintain your vehicle in the best possible condition, Toyota recom-
mends that maintenance service operations as well as other inspections and
repairs be carried out by authorized Toyota retailers or Toyota authorized
repairers, or any reliable repairers. For repairs and services covered by your
warranty, please visit an authorized Toyota retailer or repairer, who will use
genuine Toyota parts in repairing any difficulties you may encounter. There
can also be advantages in utilizing authorized Toyota retailers or repairers for
non-warranty repairs and services, as members of the Toyota network will be
able to expertly assist you with any difficulties you may encounter.
Your Toyota retailer or Toyota authoriz ed repairer, or any reliable repairer will
perform all of the scheduled maintenance on your vehicle reliably and eco-
nomically due to their experience with Toyota vehicles.
Q Does your vehicle need repairs?
Be on the alert for changes in performance and sounds, and visual tip-offs
that indicate service is needed. Some important clues are:
O Engine missing, stumbling or pinging
O Appreciable loss of power
O Strange engine noises
O A fluid leak under the vehicle (However, water dripping from the air condi-
tioning system after use is normal.)
O Change in exhaust sound (This may indicate a dangerous carbon monoxide
leak. Drive with the windows open and have the exhaust system checked
immediately.)
O Flat-looking tires, excessive tire squeal when cornering, uneven tire wear
O Vehicle pulls to one side when driven straight on a level road
O Strange noises related to suspension movement
O Loss of brake effectiveness, spongy feeling brake pedal or clutch pedal,
pedal almost touches the floor, vehicle pulls to one side when braking
O Engine coolant temperature continually higher than normal
If you notice any of these clues, take your vehicle to any authorized Toyota
retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer as soon as pos-
sible. Your vehicle may need adjustment or repair.
