should remain deactivated.

within the count ry-specific guidelines for
permissible tolerances (basis: UN-ECE No.
85 or country -specific guidelines).
Fa ctors that can influence this are, forex am‐

R Sea le vel
R Fuel grade
R Outside temp erature
R Operating temp erature of the engine

Use the Offroad Score only for off-road driving
and not on public roads. When choosing the
ro ute, take into account theve hicle characteris‐
tics, the ground conditions and your driving
skills. Do not let the sy stem distract you from
what is happening on thero ute. #

pedal firm lyand do not accelerate at
th e same time. &

If ch ildren are left unat tended in theve hicle,
th ey could, in part icular:
R open doors, thereby endangering other
persons or road users.
R get out and be stru ck byoncoming traf‐
fi c.
R ope rate ve hicle equipment and become
trapped, forex ample. In addition,
thech ildren could also set the
ve hicle in motion by,fo rex ample:
R releasing the parking brake.
R changing the transmission position.

Keep theve hicle key out of there ach of

transmission toremain in neutral 005C 005C,even if
th e ignition is switched off or the driver's
door is opened: #
Dep ress the brake pedal and engage neutral
005C when the car is stationar y.

Release the brake pedal. #

short time until 005Dis engaged. Therefore,
alw ays pay attention tothe transmission
position displa y.
Pa rk position 005Dis engaged automatically if one
of thefo llowing conditions is me t:
R You swit choff the ignition when theve hicle
is stationary and the transmission position is
005B or005E.
R You open the driver's door when theve hicle
is at a standstill or when driving at a very low
speed and the transmission position is 005Bor
005E.
R You swit choff the engine and bring theve hi‐
cle toast andstill when theve hicle is rolling
and the transmission position is 005Bor005E.
R You swit choff the engine, bring theve hicle
to ast andstill and open the driver's door
when theve hicle is stationary or when the
ve hicle is rolling and the transmission posi‐
tion is 005C.
R Enga ging park position 005Dautomatically is
re qu ired bytheve hicle. %
Tomanoeuvre with an open driver's door,
open the driver's door while at a standstill
and engage transmission position 005Bor005E
again.

th an anticipatory driving style, Glide mode
helps youto reduce fuel consum ption.
Glide mode is characterised bythefo llowing:
R The combustion engine is disconnected from
the driv etra in and continues torun in neutral.
R The transmission position displ ay005B is
shown in green.
R Vehicles with 48 V on-board electrical
sy stem (EQ-Boost technology): The com‐
bustion engine can be switched off. All of the
ve hicle functions remain active. Glide mode is activated if
thefo llowing condi‐
tions are me t:
R Drive prog ram ; is selected.
R The speed is within a suitable range.
R The road's course is suitable, e.g. no steep
uphill or downhill inclines or tight bends.
R There is no trailer hitched up tothe trailer

The wheels can block and thus lose traction
on slippery road sur faces, pa rticularly in the

R if off-road ABS inter venes when braking. #

trans fer case is in neutral position
The vehicle may rollaw ay unin tentionally if
yo u do not wait until the transfer case shift
operation is comple te. #
Wait until the transfer case shift opera‐
tion is comple te. This function is only
available in vehicles with
Off-road pac kage.
Shift the transfer case tothe on-ro ad position
HIGH RANGE or intotheLO W RANGE off-road
ge ar.
Do not swit choff the engine during shift opera‐
tion and do not shift the automatic transmission
to ano ther position.
