4. Pass the flat tire belts through thewheel of the flat tire.

5. Pass the flat tire belts through thebuckle.

6. While pressing the flat tire againstthe third-row seat, pull the ends of
the flat tire belts and secure the flat
tire.

CAUTION
When pulling the flat tire belts,
wrap the buckle with a cloth. If the
buckle directly contacts the
aluminum wheel, the wheel may be
damaged.

Route the jumper cables away from parts that will be moving:
Connecting a jumper cable near or to moving parts (cooling fans, belts) is dangerous. The
cable could get caught when the engine starts and cause serious injury.
CAUTION
Use only a 12 V booster system. You can damage a 12 V starter, ignition system, and other
electrical parts beyond repair with a 24 V power supply (two 12 V batteries in series or a 24 V
motor generator set).
1. Move the booster vehicle so that its battery is as close as possible to your vehicle's battery.
2. Make sure that the power such as for the headlights and air conditioner is turned off.
3. Remove the battery cover.
4. Turn off the booster vehicle's engine and connect the jumper cables in the following
order.
Make sure that the jumper cables are securely connected so that they do not disconnect
due to engine vibrations.
1st lead
Positive (+) terminal on the discharged battery
Positive (+) terminal on booster vehicle's battery

If the driver or front passenger's seat belt is
unfastened (only when the front passenger's
seat is occupied) and if the vehicle is driven
at about 20 km/h (12 mph) or faster, or
about 10 km/h (6 mph) or faster for a con ‐
tinuous 30 seconds, with the seat belt unfas ‐
tened, the warning light flashes for a certain
period. After a short time, the warning light
stops flashing, but remains illuminated.
NOTE
The warning light fla shes for about 6
seconds if the driver's seat belt is not fas ‐
tened when the ignition is switched ON.
To allow the front passenger occupant
classification sensor to function properly,
do not place and sit on an additional seat
cushion on the front passenger's seat.

The seat belt warning light turns on if the
driver or front passenger's seat is occupied
and the seat belt is not fastened with the ig
‐
nition switched ON.
If the driver or front passenger's seat belt is
unfastened (only when the front passenger's
seat is occupied) and the vehicle is driven at
a speed faster than about 20 km/h (12 mph),
the warning light flashes. After a short time,
the warning light stops flashing, but re ‐
mains illuminated. If a seat belt remains un ‐
fastened, the warning light flashes again for
a given period of time.
NOTE
Placing heavy items on the front pas‐
senger's seat may cause the front pas ‐
senger's seat belt warning function to op ‐
erate depending on the weight of the
item.
To allow the front passenger seat weight
sensor to function properly, do not place
and sit on an additional seat cushion on
the front passenger's seat. The sensor
may not function properly because the
additional seat cushion could cause sen ‐
sor interference.
If a small child is seated on the front pas ‐
senger's seat, the warning light may not

The lights-on reminder is operable when

If lights are on and the ignition is switched
to ACC or off, a continuous beep sound
will be heard when the driver's door is

If there is a problem with the air bag/front
seat belt pretensioner systems and the
warning light illumination, a warning beep
sound will be heard for about 5 seconds
every minute.

The air bag and front seat belt pretensioner
system warning beep sound will continue
to be heard for approximately 35 minutes.
Have your vehicle inspected at an
Authorized Mazda Dealer as soon as
possible.

beep sounding:
Driving the vehicle with the air bag/front
seat belt pretensioner system warning beep
sounding is dangerous. In a collision, the
air bags and the front seat belt
pretensioner system will not deploy and
this could result in death or serious injury.

have the vehicle inspected as soon as
possible.

continuous 30 seconds, with the seat belt
unfastened, a sound is activated
continuously for a certain period.
Until a seat belt is fastened or a given

front passenger's seat belt is fastened.
Until a seat belt is fastened or a given
period of time has elapsed, the beep sound
will not stop even if the vehicle speed falls
below 20 km/h (12 mph).

condition, the keyless entry system will
not operate, the vehicle cannot be locked,

Because the key utilizes low-intensity

carried together with a metal object or it
is placed in a poor signal reception area.

Event Data Recorder (U.S.A. and Canada)
This vehicle is equipped with an event data recorder (EDR). The main purpose of an EDR is
to record, in certain crash or near crash-like situations, such as an air bag deployment or
hitting a road obstacle, data that will assist in understanding how a vehicle’s systems
performed. The EDR is designed to record da ta related to vehicle dynamics and safety
systems for a short period of time, typically 30 seconds or less. The EDR in this vehicle is
designed to record such data as:
How various systems in your vehicle were operating;
Whether or not the driver and passenger safety belts were buckled/fastened;
How far (if at all) the driver was depressing the accelerator and/or brake pedal; and,
How fast the vehicle was traveling.
These data can help provide a better understanding of the circumstances in which crashes
and injuries occur.
NOTE:
EDR data are recorded by your vehicle only if a non-trivial crash or near crash-like situation
occurs; no data are recorded by the EDR under normal driving conditions and no personal
data (e.g., name, gender, age, and crash location) are recorded. However, other parties, such
as law enforcement, could combine the EDR data with the type of personally identifying
data routinely acquired during a crash investigation.
To read data recorded by an EDR, special equipment is required, and access to the vehicle or
the EDR is needed. In addition to the vehicle manufacturer, other parties, such as law
enforcement, that have the special equipment, can read the information if they have access
to the vehicle or the EDR.

Mazda will not disclose any of the data recorded in an EDR to a third party unless:
A written agreement from the vehicle owner or the lessee is obtained
Officially requested by the police or other law enforcement authorities
Used as a defense for Mazda in a lawsuit, claim, or arbitration
Ordered by a judge or court
However, if necessary Mazda will:
Use the data for research on Mazda vehicle performance, including safety.
Disclose the data or the summarized data to a third party for research purposes without
disclosing vehicle or owner identification information.
