For safety and security
■If the SRS airbags deploy (inflate)
●Slight abrasions, burns, brui sing etc., may be sustained from SRS airbags, due to the
extremely high speed deployment (inflation) by hot gases.
●A loud noise and white powder will be emitted.
●Parts of the airbag module (steering wheel hub, airbag cover and inflator) as well as the
front seats, parts of the front and rear pillars and roof side rails, may be hot for several
minutes. The airbag itself may also be hot.
●The windshield may crack.
●All of the doors will be unlocked. ( P. 114)
●Fuel supply to the engi ne will be stopped. (P. 517)
●For Lexus Enform Safety Connect subscribers, if any of the following situations occur,
the system is designed to send an emerge ncy call to the response center, notifying
them of the vehicle’s location (without needing to push the “SOS” button) and an agent
will attempt to speak with the occupants to ascertain the level of emergency and assis-
tance required. If the occupants are unable to communicate, the agent automatically
treats the call as an emergency and helps to dispatch the necessary emergency ser-
vices. ( P. 71)
• An SRS airbag is deployed.
• A seat belt pretensioner is activated.
• The vehicle is involved in a severe rear-end collision.
WARNING
■Modification and disposal of SRS airbag system components
Do not dispose of your vehicle or perform any of the following modifications without
consulting your Lexus dealer. The SRS airb ags may malfunction or deploy (inflate)
accidentally, causing death or serious injury.
●Installation, removal, disassembly and repair of the SRS airbags
●Repairs, modifications, removal or replacement of the steering wheel, instrument
panel, dashboard, seats or seat upholstery, front, side and rear pilla rs or roof side rails
●Repairs or modifications of the front fender, front bumper, or side of the occupant
compartment
●Installation of a grille guard (bull bars, ka ngaroo bar, etc.), snow plows, winches or
roof luggage carrier
●Modifications to the vehicle’s suspension system
●Installation of electronic devices such as mobile two-way radios and CD players
●Modifications to your vehicle for a person with a physical disability

WARNING
■To avoid malfunction of the radar sensor
Observe the following precautions.
Otherwise, the radar sensor may not operate properly, possibly leading to an accident
resulting in death or serious injury.
●Keep the radar sensor and the rada r sensor cover clean at all times.
●Do not attach accessories, stickers (includi ng transparent stickers) or other items to
the radar sensor, radar sensor cover or surrounding area.
●Do not subject the radar sensor or its surrounding area to a strong impact.
If the radar sensor, front grille, or front bumper has been subjected to a strong impact,
have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
●Do not disassemble the radar sensor.
●Do not modify or paint the rada r sensor or radar sensor cover.
●In the following cases, the radar sensor mu st be recalibrated. Contact your Lexus
dealer for details.
• When the radar sensor or front grille are removed and installed, or replaced
• When the front bumper is replaced

●Do not modify any components of the vehi
cle around the front camera (inside rear
view mirror, et c.) or ceiling.
●Do not attach any accessories to the hood , front grille or front bumper that may
obstruct the front camera. Contac t your Lexus dealer for details.
●If a surfboard or other long object is to be mounted on the roof, make sure that it will
not obstruct the front camera.
●Do not modify the head lights or other lights.

WARNING
■Pre-collision braking
●When the pre-collision braking function is operating, a large amount of braking force
will be applied.
●If the vehicle is stopped by the operation of the pre-collision braking function, the pre-
collision braking function operation will be canceled after approximately 2 seconds.
Depress the brake pedal as necessary.
●The pre-collision braking fu nction may not operate if certain operations are per-
formed by the driver. If the accelerator pedal is being depressed strongly or the steer-
ing wheel is being turned, the system may de termine that the driver is taking evasive
action and possibly prevent the pre-coll ision braking function from operating.
●In some situations, while the pre-collision braking function is operating, operation of
the function may be canceled if the accele rator pedal is depressed strongly or the
steering wheel is turned and the system de termines that the driver is taking evasive
action.
●If the brake pedal is being depressed, the sy stem may determine that the driver is tak-
ing evasive action and possibly delay the op eration timing of the pre-collision braking
function.
■When to disable the pre-collision system
In the following situations, di sable the system, as it may not operate properly, possibly
leading to an accident resultin g in death or serious injury:
●When the vehicle is being towed
●When your vehicle is towing another vehicle
●When transporting the vehicle via truck, bo at, train or similar means of transportation
●When the vehicle is raised on a lift with the engine running and the tires are allowed to
rotate freely
●When inspecting the vehicle using a drum tester such as a chassis dynamometer or
speedometer tester, or when using an on vehicle wheel balancer
●When a strong impact is applied to the fron t bumper or front grille, due to an accident
or other reasons
●If the vehicle cannot be driven in a stable manner, such as when the vehicle has been
in an accident or is malfunctioning
●When the vehicle is driven in a sporty manner or off-road
●When the tires are not properly inflated
●When the tires are very worn
●When tires of a size other than specified are installed
●When tire chains are installed
●When a compact spare tire or an emergency tire puncture repair kit is used
●If equipment (snow plow, etc.) that may obstruct the radar sensor or front camera is
temporarily installed to the vehicle

Driving
■Situations in which the system may not operate properly
●In some situations such as the following, a vehicle may not be detected by the radar
sensor and front camera, preventing the system from operating properly:
• If an oncoming vehicle is approaching your vehicle
• If a vehicle ahead is a motorcycle or bicycle
• When approaching the side or front of a vehicle
• If a preceding vehicle has a small rear end, such as an unloaded truck
• If a vehicle ahead is carrying a load which protrudes past its rear bumper
• If a vehicle ahead is irregularly shap ed, such as a tractor or side car
• If the sun or other light is shin ing directly on a vehicle ahead
• If a vehicle cuts in front of your ve hicle or emerges from beside a vehicle
• If a vehicle ahead makes an abrupt maneuver (such as sudden swerving, accelera-
tion or deceleration)
• When suddenly cutting behind a preceding vehicle
• When driving in inclement we ather such as heavy rain, fog, snow or a sandstorm
• When the vehicle is hit by water, sn ow, dust, etc. from a vehicle ahead
• When driving through steam or smoke
• When driving in a place where the surrounding brightness changes suddenly, such as at the entrance or exit of a tunnel
• When a very bright light, such as the sun or the headlights of on coming traffic, shines
directly into the front camera
• When the surrounding area is dim, such as at dawn or dusk, or while at night or in a tunnel
• If a preceding vehicle has a low rear end,
such as a low bed trailer
• If a vehicle ahead has extremely high ground clearance
• When a vehicle ahead is not directly in front of your vehicle

■The intuitive parking assist can be operated when
●Front corner sensors:
• The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
• The shift lever is in a position other than P.
• The vehicle speed is less than approximately 6 mph (10 km/h).
(At any speed when the shift lever is in R)
●Front center sensors:
• The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
• The shift lever is in a position other than P or R.
• The vehicle speed is less than about 6 mph (10 km/h).
●Rear corner and rear center sensors:
• The engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode.
• The shift lever is in R.
■Intuitive parking assist display
When an obstacle is detected while the rear view monitor system or Multi-terrain Moni-
tor is in use, the warning indicator will appear in the upper corner of the screen even if the
display setting has been set to off.
■Sensor detectio n information
●The sensor’s detection areas are limited to the areas around the vehicle’s bumper.
●Certain vehicle conditions and the surrounding environment may affect the ability of a
sensor to correctly detect an obstacle. Pa rticular instances where this may occur are
listed below.
• There is dirt, snow or ice on the sensor . (Wiping the sensors will resolve this prob-
lem.)
• The sensor is frozen. (Thawing the area will resolve this problem.) In especially cold weather, if a sensor is frozen the screen may show an abnormal
display, or obstacles may not be detected.
• The sensor is covered in any way.
• The vehicle is leaning considerably to one side.
• On an extremely bumpy road, on an incline, on gravel, or on grass.
• The vicinity of the vehicle is noisy due to vehicle horns, motorcycle engines, air brakes of large vehicles, or other loud noises producing ultrasonic waves.
• There is another vehicle equipped with parking assist sensors in the vicinity.
• The sensor is coated with a sheet of spray or heavy rain.
• The vehicle is equipped with a fender pole or wireless antenna.
• The bumper or sensor re ceives a strong impact.
• The vehicle is approaching a tall or curved curb.
• In harsh sunlight or intense cold weather.
• The area directly under the bumpers is not detected.
• If obstacles draw too close to the sensor.
• A non-genuine Lexus suspension (low ered suspension etc.) is installed.
• People may not be detected if they are wearing certain types of clothing.
In addition to the examples above, there ar e instances in which, because of their shape,
signs and other objects may be judged by a sensor to be closer than they are.

Displayed if an obstacle is detected wh ile the intuitive parking assist is turned
on.
Pop-up display of the Rear Cross Traffic Alert function
Displayed if a vehicle approaching from right or left rear of the vehicle is
detected while the Rear Cross Traf fic Alert function is turned on.
■Front view & dual side view display
The screen can be displayed when the shift lever is in P, D or N.
■Front view rotating display function
●The vehicle inclination displayed on the screen may differ from the actual state.
●When the rotated screen is displayed, the corners of the front bumper may not be seen
on the screen.
■Tilt meter display
●The display indicates the incline of the vehicle in degrees shown by the movement of
the pointer and the rotation of the vehicle image.
●The color of the degree markers of incline to the front, rear, left and right changes
according to the current incline of the vehicle.
●After the engine switch is turned to IGNITI ON ON mode, the degree of incline is not
displayed until such info rmation is determined.
●The degree of incline showed on the tilt meter is only an approximate indication, and
may differ from the degree of incline measured using other equipment.
■Tilt meter/slip display
When the intuitive parking assist or the Rear Cross Traffic Alert function detects an
obstacle or another vehicle, a warning message po ps up in the tilt meter/slip display area.

Front distance guide line (blue)
Indicates a distance approximately 3 ft. (1 m) from the front end of the vehicle.
Rear vehicle width extension guide lines
Indicate the estimated course of the vehicle when backing up straight.
• The displayed width is wider than the actual vehicle width.
• In projected course line disp lay mode, this item overlaps the projected course lines
when going straight.
Side projected course line (yellow)
Indicates the projected reverse course calcu lated by the angle of the steering wheel.
The projected reverse course line on the outside of the turn is displayed according to
the direction of the steering wheel.
Rear distance guide line
Indicates the estimated distance from the end of the rear bumper (at the center). (Red
line: approximately 1.5 ft. [0.5 m] away. Ye llow line: approximately 3 ft. [1 m] away.)
In projected course line display mode, the re ar distance guide line changes according
to steering wheel operations.
Projected reverse course (yellow)
Changes according to steering wheel operations and indicates the estimated course
of the vehicle.
Rear distance guide line (blue)
Indicates a distance approximately 1.5 ft. (0.5 m) from the end of the rear bumper (at
the center).
Parking assist guide line (blue)
Indicates the estimated tire course of the tightest possible turn in reverse.
Intuitive parking assist*
When the intuitive parking assist is on, an icon will be displayed when an obstacle is
detected. (Refer to P. 270 for informat ion about the intuitive parking assist.)
Vehicle center line (blue)
Indicates the estimated vehicle center on the ground.
