Driving
●In the situations shown below, the system may not be able to accurately detect sur-
rounding brightness levels. This may cause the low beams to remain on or the high
beams to cause problems for pedestrians, ve hicles ahead or other parties. In these
cases, manually switch between the high and low beams.
• In bad weather (rain, snow, fog, sandstorms etc.)
• The windshield is obscured by fog, mist, ice, dirt etc.
• The windshield is cracked or damaged.
• The camera sensor is deformed or dirty.
• The camera sensor temperature is extremely high.
• Surrounding brightness levels are equal to th ose of headlights, tail lights or fog lights.
• Vehicles ahead have headlights that are either switched off, dirty, are changing color,
or are not aimed properly.
• When driving through an area of intermittently changing brightness and darkness.
• When frequently and repeated ly driving ascending/descending roads, or roads with
rough, bumpy or uneven surfaces (such as stone-paved roads, gravel tracks etc.).
• When frequently and repeatedly taking curves or driving on a winding road.
• There is a highly reflective object ahead of the vehicle, such as a sign or a mirror.
• The back of a vehicle ahead is highly re flective, such as a container on a truck.
• The vehicle’s headlights are damaged or dirty.
• The vehicle is listing or tilting, due to a flat tire, a trailer being towed etc.
• The high beam and low beam are repeated ly being switched between in an abnor-
mal manner.
• The driver believes that the high beam may be causing problems or distress to other drivers or pedestrians nearby.

■Temporarily lowering sensor sensitivity
The sensitivity of the sensor can be temporarily lowered.
Turn the engine switch off while the following conditions are met.
• The headlight switch is in or .
• The headlight switch lever is in the original position.
• Automatic High Beam switch is on.
Turn the engine switch to IGNITION ON mode.
Within 60 seconds after step , repeat pushing the headli ght switch lever to the high
beam position then pulling it to the original position quickly 10 times, then leave the
lever in the original position.
If the sensitivity is changed, the Automati c High Beam indicator turns on and off 3
times.
■Temporarily switching to the low beams
It is recommended to switch to the low be ams when the high beam may cause problems
or distress to other drivers or pedestrians nearby.

The Lexus Safety System + consists of th e following drive assist systems and
contributes to a safe and comfo rtable driving experience:
WARNING
■Lexus Safety System +
The Lexus Safety System + is designed to operate under the assumption that the driver
will drive safely, and is designed to help reduce the impact to the occupants and the
vehicle in the case of a collision or assist the driver in normal driving conditions.
As there is a limit to the degree of reco gnition accuracy and control performance that
this system can provide, do not overly rely on this system. The driver is always responsi-
ble for paying attention to the vehicle’s surroundings and driving safely.

■Warning messages
The warning messages explained below may differ from the actual messages according
to operation conditions an d vehicle specifications.
■Warning buzzer
In some cases, the buzzer ma y not be heard due to being in a noisy location or audio
sound.
■If “ENGINE OIL LOW”/“Engine Oil Level Low Add or Replace” is shown
The engine oil level is low. Check the level of the engine oil, and add if necessary.
This message may appear if the vehicle is stopped on a slope. Move the vehicle to a level
surface and check to see if the message disappears.
■If “AUTO POWER OFF TO CONSERVE BATTE RY”/“Auto power off to conserve bat-
tery” is shown
Power was turned off due to the automatic power off function. Next time when starting
the engine, increase the engine speed slightly and maintain that level for approximately 5
minutes to recharge the battery.
■If “ENGINE OIL PRES SURE LOW”/“Oil Pressure Low Stop in a Safe Place See
Owner’s Manual” is shown
Indicates abnormal engine oil pressure.
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place and contact your Lexus dealer. Continuing to
drive the vehicle may be dangerous.
■If “HIGH TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERAT URE”/“High Transmission Fluid Temp
See Owner’s Manual” is shown.
It indicates that the automatic transmission fluid temperature is too high.
Immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place, shift the shift lever to P and wait until the
warning message disappear. If the warning message disappears, you may start the vehi-
cle again. If the warning message does not disappear, contact your Lexus dealer.
■If “Check Transmissi on System” is shown.
The automatic transmission system is malfunctioning.
Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus dealer.
■If “ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDA LS DEPRESSED SIMULTANEOUSLY”/
“Accelerator and Brake Pedals Pressed Simultaneously” is shown on the multi-informa-
tion display
The accelerator and brake pedal are being depressed simultaneously. ( P. 169)
Release the accelerator pedal and depress the brake pedal.
■If “HEADLIGHT SYSTEM MALFUNCTION VISIT YOUR DEALER”/“Headlight Sys-
tem Malfunction Visit Your Dealer” is displayed
The following systems may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your Lexus
dealer immediately.
●The LED headlight system
●The automatic headlight leveling system
●Automatic High Beam

When trouble arises
■If a message that indica tes the malfunction of front camera is displayed
The following systems may be suspended until the problem shown in the message is
resolved. ( P. 238, 518)
●PCS (Pre-Collision System)
●LDA (Lane Departure Alert)
●Automatic High Beam
●Dynamic radar cruise control
■If “Radar Cruise Control Unavailable” is shown
The dynamic radar cruise control sy stem cannot be used temporarily.
Use the system when it becomes available again.
■If “Maintenance Required Soon” is shown (U.S.A. only)
Indicates that all maintenance according to the driven distance on the maintenance
schedule
* should be performed s oon. Comes on approximatel y 4500 miles (7200 km)
after the message has been reset. If necessary, perform main tenance. Please reset the
message after the maintenance is performed. ( P. 449)

Check and change the engine o il, and oil filter by your Lexus dealer. After changing the

The smart access system with push-button star t may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle
inspected by your Lexus dealer immediately.
