Opening/Closing the Power Tailgate*
Use a forward and back kicking motion under
the center of the rear bumper to open or close
the power tailgate while carrying the smart
entry remote.
u Some exterior lights flash twice and a
beeper sounds once, then the tailgate
begins to move.

During rain or in other instances when the vehicle
becomes wet, the sensor may not properly detect
your foot motion.
When performing work on or around the rear section
of the vehicle, you may in advertently open or close
the tailgate.
To prevent this from happe ning, select Customized
Features on the audio/information screen and then
select OFF for the feature. 2 Customized Features P. 324
If you hold your foot under the bumper for too long,
the power tailgate doe s not open or close.
This function will not opera te if you don't have the
smart entry remote on you. Please make sure you
have the smart entry remote on you.
The duration of the kick ing motion should be
approximately one second.

Security System
Immobilizer System
The immobilizer system prevents a key that has not been pre-registered from
starting the engine. Each key contains electronic transmitters that use electronic
signals to verify the key.
Pay attention to the follo wing when pressing the ENGINE START/STOP button:
• Do not allow objects that emit strong radio waves near the ENGINE START/
STOP button.
• Make sure the key is not covered by or touching a metal object.
• Do not bring a key from another vehicle’s immobilizer system near the ENGINE
START/STOP button.
• Do not put the key near magnetic items. El ectronic device, such as televisions and
audio systems emit strong magnetic fiel ds. Note that even a key chain can
become magnetic.
Security System Alarm
The security system alarm activates when the tailgate, hood or doors are forcibly
opened. The alarm does not activate if the tailgate or doors are opened with the key,
remote transmitter or smart entry system.
However, the alarm activates if a door is opened with the key and then the hood is
opened before the power mode is set to ON.

Leaving the key in the vehicl e can result in theft or
accidental movement of the vehicle.
Always take the key with you whenever you leave the
vehicle unattended.
Do not alter the system or add other devices to it.
Doing so may damage the system and make your
vehicle inoperable.

The security alarm continues for a maximum of two
minutes until the security system alarm deactivates.

You can start the engine when the smart entry
remote is inside the vehicle.
If the battery of the smar t entry remote is getting
low, the engine may not start when you push the
ENGINE START/STOP button. If the engine does not
start, refer to the following link. 2 If the Smart Entry Remote Battery is Weak
P. 560
The engine may also run if the smart entry remote is
close to the door or window, ev en if it is outside the
vehicle.
ON mode:
The ENGINE START/STOP button is on (in red), if the
engine is running.
If the power mode does not change from VEHICLE OFF
(LOCK) to ACCESSORY, press the ENGINE START/
STOP button while moving the steering wheel left and
right. The steering wheel will unlock, allowing the mode
to change.

Driving Position Memory System*
You can store two driver's seat (excep t for power lumbar) and outside mirrors
position with the driving position memory system.
When you unlock and open the driver’s doo r with a remote transmitter, or smart
entry system, door mirrors adjust to one of the two preset positions and the seat
adjusts to retracted positions of one of the two preset positions automatically.
The seat will move to th e stored position when you set the power mode to
ACCESSORY.
When you enter the vehicle, the driver in formation interface briefly shows you which
remote transmitter you used to unlock the vehicle.
• DRIVER 1 transmitter is linked to memory button 1.
• DRIVER 2 transmitter is linked to memory button 2.

The audio system features AM/FM radio and SiriusXM® Radio* service. It can also
play USB flash drives, and iPod, iPhone, iPad and Bluetooth® devices.
You can operate the audio system from the knobs on the panel, the remote controls
on the steering wheel, or the icons on the touchscreen interface.1About Your Audio System

handheld electronic devices while operating a
vehicle.
After you set the power m ode to VEHICLE OFF, you
can use the audio system for up to 30 minutes per
driving cycle, or until opening the driver's door.
However, whether you can continue using the audio
system depends on the batter y condition. Repeatedly
using this feature ma y drain the battery.

■On the console panel
The USB port (2.5A) is for charging devices,
playing audio files and connecting compatible
phones with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. u To prevent any potenti al issues, be sure
to use an Apple MFi Certified Lightning
Connector for Apple CarPlay, and for
Android Auto, the USB cables should be
certified by USB-IF to be compliant with
USB 2.0 Standard.

The USB port (2.5A) is only for charging
devices.

•Do not leave the iPod or USB flash drive in the
vehicle. Direct sunlight and high temperatures may
damage it.
•We recommend that you us e a USB cable if you are
attaching a USB flash drive to the USB port.
•Do not connect the iPod or USB flash drive using a hub.
•Do not use a device such as a card reader or hard disk
drive, as the device or your files may be damaged.
•We recommend backing up yo ur data before using
the device in your vehicle.
•Displayed messages may vary depending on the
device model and software version.
The USB port can supply up to 2.5A of power. It does
not output 2.5A unless requested by the device.
For amperage details, read the operating manual of
the device that ne eds to be charged.
This port is for battery charge only. You cannot play
music even if you have conne cted a music player to it.
