2. Place the two recognizedtransmitters into the front
cupholder.
3. Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver door handle. See Door
Locks 015. Insert the vehicle key of
the transmitter into the key lock
cylinder on the driver door and
turn the key counterclockwise, to
the unlock position, five times
within 10 seconds.
The DIC displays READY FOR
REMOTE #3, 4, 5, ETC.
4. Place the new transmitter into the front cupholder. 5. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When
the transmitter is learned the DIC
display will show that it is ready to
program the next transmitter.
6. Remove the transmitter from the front cupholder. and press the
transmitter
KorQbutton.
To program additional transmitters,
repeat Steps 3–5.
When all additional transmitters
are programmed, press and hold
ENGINE START/STOP for
12 seconds to exit
programming mode.
7. Return the key back into the transmitter.
8. Replace the key lock cylinder cap. See Door Locks 015.
Programming without Recognized
Transmitters
If two currently recognized
transmitters are not available, follow
this procedure to program up to eight
transmitters. This feature is not
available in Canada. This procedure
will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The vehicle must be off and
all of the transmitters you wish to
program must be with you.
1. Remove the key from the RKE transmitter.
2. Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver door handle. See Door
Locks 015. Insert the vehicle key of
the transmitter into the key lock
cylinder on the driver door handle
and turn the key counterclockwise,
to the unlock position, five times
within 10 seconds.
The DIC displays REMOTE LEARN
PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
3. Wait for 10 minutes until the DIC displays PRESS ENGINE START
BUTTON TO LEARN and then
press ENGINE START/STOP.
The DIC display will again show
REMOTE LEARN PENDING,
PLEASE WAIT.
4. Repeat Step 2 two additional times. After the third time all previously
known transmitters will no longer
work with the vehicle. Remaining
transmitters can be relearned
during the next steps.

The DIC display should now show
READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
5. Place the new transmitter into thefront cupholder.
6. Press ENGINE START/STOP. When the transmitter is learned the DIC
display will show that it is ready to
program the next transmitter.
7. Remove the transmitter from the front cupholder. and press the
transmitter
KorQbutton.
To program additional transmitters,
repeat Steps 4–6. When all additional transmitters
are programmed, press and hold
ENGINE START/STOP for
12 seconds to exit
programming mode.
8. Return the key back into the transmitter.
9. Replace the key lock cylinder cap. See Door Locks 015.
Starting the Vehicle with a Low
Transmitter Battery
When starting the vehicle, if the RKE
transmitter battery is depleted, there
is signal interference, or the RKE
transmitter has been idle for a while,
the DIC may display NO REMOTE
DETECTED or NO REMOTE KEY WAS
DETECTED PLACE KEY IN
TRANSMITTER POCKET THEN
START YOUR VEHICLE. The DIC may
also display REPLACE BATTERY IN
REMOTE KEY.
For improved vehicle security, the
RKE transmitter is equipped with a
motion sensor. First, move the RKE
transmitter slightly and try starting
the vehicle. If the vehicle still does not start and the DIC displays the same
warnings above, follow the steps
shown below.
To start the vehicle:
1. Place the transmitter in the front
cupholder.
2. With the vehicle in P (Park) or N (Neutral), press the brake pedal
and ENGINE START/STOP.
Replace the transmitter battery as
soon as possible.

3. Remove the old battery. Do not usea metal object.
4. Insert the new battery on the back housing, positive side facing down.
Replace with a CR2032 or
equivalent battery.
5. Align the front and back housing then snap the transmitter together.
6. Reinsert the key.
Remote Vehicle Start
This feature allows the engine to be
started from outside of the vehicle.
/: This button is on the RKE
transmitter for remote start. The climate control system will
determine the best mode and
temperature setting for operation
during the remote start. Once the
vehicle is started with the ENGINE
START/STOP button, the climate
control system will begin to operate at
the last customer selected operating
mode and temperature. The rear defog
may come on during remote start
based on cold ambient conditions. The
rear fog indicator light does not come
on during remote start.
If the vehicle has auto heated or
ventilated seats they may come on
during a remote start. See
Heated and
Ventilated Front Seats 043.
Laws in some local communities may
restrict the use of remote starters. For
example, some laws may require a
person using remote start to have the
vehicle in view. Check local
regulations for any requirements.
Do not use remote start if the vehicle
is low on fuel. The vehicle may run
out of fuel. Other conditions can affect the
performance of the transmitter. See
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) System

Starting the Engine Using Remote
Start
1. Press and release
Qon the RKE
transmitter.
2. Immediately press and hold
/for
at least four seconds or until the
turn signal lamps flash. The turn
signal lamps flashing confirms the
request to remote start the vehicle
has been received.
During the remote start the doors
will be locked and the parking
lamps will remain on as long as the
engine is running.
The engine will shut off after
15 minutes unless a time extension
is done or the ignition is turned on.
3. With the RKE transmitter in the vehicle, press the brake pedal and
start the vehicle to drive.

manually close the liftgate. This will
allow normal power operation
functions to resume.
If the vehicle is locked while the
liftgate is closing, and an obstacle is
encountered that prevents the liftgate
from completely closing, the horn will
sound as an alert that the liftgate did
not close.
Setting the 3/4 Mode
To change the position the liftgate
stops at when opening:1. Select MAX or 3/4 mode and power open the liftgate.
2. Stop the liftgate movement at the desired height by pressing any
liftgate button. Manually adjust the
liftgate position if needed.
3. Press and hold
lnext to the pull
cup on the bottom of the liftgate
until the turn signals flash and a
beep sounds. This indicates the
setting has been recorded. The liftgate cannot be set below a
minimum programmable height.
If there is no light flash or sound,
then the height adjustment may be
too low.
Manual Operation
Select OFF to manually operate the
liftgate.
Caution
Attempting to move the liftgate too
quickly and with excessive force
may result in damage to the
vehicle.
Operate the liftgate manually with a
smooth motion and moderate speed.
The system includes a feature which
limits the manual closing speed to
protect the components.
Hands-Free Operation
If equipped, the liftgate may be
operated with a kicking motion under
the left corner of the rear bumper at
the location of the projected logo. The RKE transmitter must be within
1 m (3 ft) of the rear bumper to
operate the power liftgate hands-free.
The hands-free feature will not work
while the liftgate is moving. To stop
the liftgate while in motion use one of
the liftgate switches.

See your dealer for service if a blue
screen and
3are displayed in the
mirror, and the display shuts off. Also,
push the tab as indicated to return to
the automatic dimming mode.
The Rear Camera Mirror may not work
properly or display a clear image if:
.There is glare from the sun or
headlamps. This may obstruct
objects from view. If needed, push
the tab to turn off the display.
.Dirt, snow, or other debris blocks
the camera lens. Clean the lens with
a soft damp cloth, or if equipped,
with the Rear Camera Washer. See
Rear Window Wiper/Washer 094.
.The camera’s mounting on the
vehicle has been damaged, and/or
the position or the mounting angle
of the camera has changed.
Windows
{
Warning
Never leave a child, a helpless adult,
or a pet alone in a vehicle,
especially with the windows closed
in warm or hot weather. They can
be overcome by the extreme heat
and suffer permanent injuries or
even death from heat stroke.
The vehicle aerodynamics are
designed to improve fuel economy
performance. This may result in a
pulsing sound when either rear
window is down and the front
windows are up. To reduce the sound,
open either a front window or the
sunroof, if equipped.
Power Windows
{Warning
Children could be seriously injured
or killed if caught in the path of a
closing window. Never leave the
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
transmitter in a vehicle with
children. When there are children in
the rear seat, use the window
lockout switch to prevent operation
of the windows. See Keys06.

Press and hold the release button
while raising or lowering the height
adjuster to the desired position.
After the height adjuster is set to the
desired position, try to move it down
without pressing the release button to
make sure it has locked into position.
Seat Belt Pretensioners
This vehicle has seat belt
pretensioners for the front outboard
occupants. Although the seat belt
pretensioners cannot be seen, they are part of the seat belt assembly. They
can help tighten the seat belts during
the early stages of a moderate to
severe frontal, near frontal, or rear
crash if the threshold conditions for
pretensioner activation are met. Seat
belt pretensioners can also help
tighten the seat belts in a side crash
or a rollover event.
Pretensioners work only once. If the
pretensioners activate in a crash, the
pretensioners and probably other
parts of the vehicle's seat belt system
will need to be replaced. See

Do not sit on the outboard seat belt
while entering or exiting the vehicle or
at any time while sitting in the seat.
Sitting on the seat belt can damage
the webbing and hardware.
Rear Seat Belt Comfort Guides
Rear seat belt comfort guides may
provide added seat belt comfort for
older children who have outgrown
booster seats and for some adults. When installed on a shoulder belt, the
comfort guide positions the shoulder
belt away from the neck and head.
The comfort guides for the second row
outboard seating positions of this
vehicle are provided in a package in
the glove box or cargo area.
Instructions are included with the
guides.
Additional comfort guides are
available through your dealer for the
rear seating positions. Instructions are
included with the guides.
Seat Belt Use During
Pregnancy
Seat belts work for everyone,
including pregnant women. Like all
occupants, they are more likely to be
seriously injured if they do not wear
seat belts.

The roof-rail airbags for the driver,
front outboard passenger, and second
row outboard passengers are in the
ceiling above the side windows.
{Warning
If something is between an
occupant and an airbag, the airbag
might not inflate properly or it
might force the object into that
person causing severe injury or
even death. The path of an inflating
airbag must be kept clear. Do not (Continued)

put anything between an occupant
and an airbag, and do not attach or
put anything on the steering wheel
hub or on or near any other airbag
covering.
Do not use seat accessories that
block the inflation path of a
seat-mounted side impact airbag.
Never secure anything to the roof of
a vehicle with roof-rail airbags by
routing a rope or tie‐down through
any door or window opening. If you
do, the path of an inflating roof-rail
airbag will be blocked.
When Should an Airbag
Inflate?
This vehicle is equipped with airbags.
SeeAirbag System 054. Airbags are
designed to inflate if the impact
exceeds the specific airbag system's
deployment threshold. Deployment
thresholds are used to predict how
severe a crash is likely to be in time
for the airbags to inflate and help restrain the occupants. The vehicle
has electronic sensors that help the
airbag system determine the severity
of the impact. Deployment thresholds
can vary with specific vehicle design.
Frontal airbags are designed to inflate
in moderate to severe frontal or near
frontal crashes to help reduce the
potential for severe injuries, mainly to
the driver's or front outboard
passenger's head and chest.
Whether the frontal airbags will or
should inflate is not based primarily
on how fast the vehicle is traveling.
It depends on what is hit, the
direction of the impact, and how
quickly the vehicle slows down.
Frontal airbags may inflate at
different crash speeds depending on
whether the vehicle hits an object
straight on or at an angle, and
whether the object is fixed or moving,
rigid or deformable, narrow or wide.
Frontal airbags are not intended to
inflate during vehicle rollovers, rear
impacts, or many side impacts.
