Using turn signals
The vehicle's turn signals are controlled using the left-side steering wheel lever. The turnsignals flash three times or continuously,depending on how far up or down the lever ismoved.
Turn signals.
Triple flash indicatorMove the steering wheel lever up or down to the first position and release. The turnsignals will flash three times. If the func-tion is deactivated via the center display,the signals will flash once.
NOTE
This automatic flashing sequence can be interrupted by immediately movingthe lever in the opposite direction.
If the turn signal indicator flashes morequickly than normal, refer to the mes-sage in the instrument panel.
Continuous flashing sequenceMove the lever up or down as far as possi- ble.
The lever will stop in its end position and canbe moved back manually or automatically bymoving the steering wheel.

Active Bending Lights

Active Bending Lights (ABL) are designed to help provide extra illumination in curves andintersections. Depending on equipment level, vehicles with LED 3
headlights * may be equip-
ped with Active Bending Lights.

Active Bending Lights follow the movement of the steering wheel to help provide extra illumi-nation in curves and intersections, helping toimprove visibility for the driver. The function is automatically activated when the engine is started. If a fault is detected in the system, the
symbol will illuminate in
the instrument panel and a message will be displayed.

Replacing bulbs
Bulb types vary depending on model and equipment level. If a light bulb 15
breaks, it can
be replaced by following the procedure shown in the Owner's Manual. If you are experiencing problems with any lights other than light bulbs, contact a work- shop 16
.
If there is a problem with an LED 17
light, the
entire lamp unit will normally need to be replaced.
NOTE
For information on lights not mentioned in the Owner's Manual, contact a Volvodealer or a certified Volvo service techni-cian.
WARNING
The vehicle electrical system must be in ignition mode 0 when bulbs are replaced.
CAUTION
Never touch the bulb glass with your bare fingers. Grease and oils from your fingersvaporize in the heat and will leave adeposit on the reflector, which may dam-age it.
NOTE
If the error message persists after the defective bulb has been replaced, we rec-ommend a visit to an authorized Volvoworkshop.
NOTE
Exterior lighting such as headlights and taillights may develop temporary conden-sation on the inside of the lens. This is nor-mal. All exterior lighting is designed toresist this. Condensation is normally ven-ted out of the lamp housing once the lighthas been lit for some period of time.
NOTE
Bulbs for active curve lighting * contain
traces of mercury and should therefore always be submitted to a certified Volvoservice technician.

Removing the plastic cover to replace bulbs The headlight bulbs can be replaced without the assistance of a workshop, but before abulb can be replaced, the plastic cover overthe headlight needs to be removed.
–Release the pins in the plastic cover's four clips by pressing them down with ascrewdriver or similar object and removethe covering.
NOTE
To bear in mind when refitting the cover- ing:
The pin in the clip must be pressedback completely before the clip is rein-stalled in the covering.
When the covering is reinstalled, thepin must be pressed in until the endsurface is level with the surface of theclip.

Replacing front turn signal bulbsThe turn signal bulbs in the halogen head- lights can be changed without the help of aworkshop.
Before the bulbs can be replaced, the plastic covering over the headlight must be removed.
Left headlight.
1. Remove the turn signal rubber cover from the headlight housing.
2. Press the retaining catches together and pull the bulb holder straight out.
3. The bulb holder and bulb must be replaced as one unit.
4. Position the bulb holder in the socket and push it into place.
5. Put the rubber cover back in place.

Replacing the rear fog light bulb
The rear fog light bulb is located behind a panel on the inside of the trunk lid on thedriver's side.
NOTE
The rear fog light bulb should be replaced by a workshop – an authorized Volvoworkshop is recommended.
To replace the rear fog light bulb:
Rubber cover the trunk lid lock.
1. Remove the rubber cover over the trunk lid lock by moving it from side to side and pulling it straight off. It can be put backinto position by pressing it into place.

Left-side rear fog light
Left-side bulb housing.
1. Remove the bulb holder by turning it aquarter-turn counterclockwise and then pulling it out.
2. Remove the old bulb from the bulb holder by pressing it in and turning it counter-clockwise.
3. Insert the new bulb by pressing it in and turning it clockwise.
4. Wipe any dirt, grease or moisture from the bulb's glass.
5. Insert the bulb into the bulb holder and turn it a quarter-turn clockwise.
6. Put the panel, plastic cover over the hinge and other parts back into place in thereverse order.
