Keyless and touch-sensitive surfaces

With the keyless locking and unlocking func- tion, the remote key only needs to be withinrange, e.g. in a pocket or bag. The vehicle canthen be locked or unlocked by touching thepressure-sensitive surface on the door han-dle.

Electronic Stability Control
The Electronic Stability Control (ESC 1

tion helps the driver avoid skidding and improves the vehicle's directional stability.
This symbol will be displayed in the instrument panel whenthe system is intervening. When the system has inter- vened to apply the brakes, apulsing sound may be heard
and the vehicle may accelerate more slowlythan expected when the accelerator pedal isdepressed.

Distance Alert *7
The Distance Alert function can help the driver become aware if the time interval tothe vehicle in front is too short. The vehicle must be equipped with a head-up display * in
order to display Distance Alert.

In vehicles equipped with a head-up display, a symbol will be displayed on the windshield aslong as the time interval to the vehicle aheadis shorter than the set time interval. However, the
Show Driver Support function must be
activated under Settings in the vehicle's menu system. Distance Alert is active at speeds above 30 km/h (20 mph) and only reacts for vehicles ahead moving in the same directionas your vehicle. No distance information isprovided for oncoming, slow-moving or sta-tionary vehicles.
NOTE
Visual warnings on the windshield may be difficult to notice in cases of strong sun-light, reflections, extreme light contrasts,or if the driver is wearing sunglasses or isnot looking straight ahead.
NOTE
Distance Alert is deactivated while Adap- tive Cruise Control

Using engine braking instead of applying the brakes
Cruise Control regulates speed by lightly applying the brakes. On downgrades, it cansometimes be desirable to roll a bit faster andlet speed be reduced instead by engine brak-ing alone. The driver can temporarily disen-gage the Cruise Control braking function.

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC 16

driver maintain a constant speed with a set time interval to the vehicle ahead.
Adaptive Cruise Control can help provide a more relaxed driving experience on long tripson highways or long, straight roads with eventraffic flows.
The camera/radar sensor measures the distance to the vehicle ahead.
The driver sets a speed and a time interval to the vehicle ahead. If the camera/radar sensordetects a slower-moving vehicle ahead, yourvehicle's speed will be automatically adaptedaccording to the set time interval to that vehi-cle. When there are no longer slower-moving vehicles ahead, the vehicle will return to theset speed. If the Curve Speed Assist (CSA)

activated, it may also affect the vehicle's speed.

1. Press the ◀ (2) or ▶ (3) button on the
steering wheel keypad and scroll to the Adaptive Cruise Control symbol
(4).
> Gray symbol – Adaptive Cruise Control is in standby mode.
2. When Speed Limiter is selected, press
(1) on the steering wheel keypad to
activate.
> White symbol – Speed Limiter starts and the current speed is stored as the maximum speed.
Reactivating Adaptive Cruise Control to the last stored speed
–When Adaptive Cruise Control is selected, press
on the steering wheel keypad to
activate.
> The Cruise Control marking in the instrument panel will change from GRAY to WHITE and the vehicle willthen return to the most recently setspeed.
WARNING
A noticeable increase in speed may follow when the speed is resumed with the
steering wheel button.
Additional markings in the instrument panel
ACC will only regulate the time interval to the vehicleahead when the distancesymbol shows two vehicles.
A speed interval will be marked at the same time. The higher speed is the stored speed for your vehicleand the lower speed is thespeed of the vehicle ahead
(target vehicle).

This is not a collision avoidance sys- tem. The driver is always responsibleand must intervene if the system failsto detect a vehicle ahead.
The function does not brake for peopleor animals and does not brake for smallvehicles, such as bikes and motorcy-cles. Similarly, it does not brake for lowtrailers, oncoming, slow-moving or sta-tionary vehicles and objects.
Do not use the function in demandingsituations, such as in city traffic, atintersections, on slippery surfaces,with a lot of water or slush on the road,in heavy rain/snow, in poor visibility, onwinding roads, or on on/off ramps.
NOTE
The function uses the vehicle's camera and radar sensor, which has certain generallimitations.
