chrome display)
The pre-crash safety system may be temporarily unavailable or there may be
a malfunction in the system.
●In the following situations, the warning light will be cleared and the system
will become operational when normal operating conditions return:
• When the area around the front sensor is hot, such as after the vehicle
has been parked in the sun
• When the windshield is fogged up or covered with condensation or ice
• When driving in conditions where the front sensor cannot detect an
object, such as in the dark (at night on a road without street lights or other
lights, etc.), when bright light is shining into the sensor, or in snow or fog.
• When the front sensor or the area around either sensor is cold, such as in
an extremely cold environment
• If the area in front of the front sensor is obstructed, such as when the
hood is open
●If the PCS warning light continues to flash or illuminate, the system may be
malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by any authorized Toyota retailer
or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer immediately.
■If the PCS warning light flashes or illuminates and a warning message is
displayed on the multi-information display (vehicles with color display)

disappear and the system will become operational when normal operating

●If TRC and VSC are disabled (P. 357), the pre-crash brake assist and pre-
crash braking functions are also disabled. However, the pre-crash warning
function will still operate.
●Vehicles with monochrome display: The PCS warning light illuminates.
●Vehicles with color display: The PCS warning light illuminates and “VSC
turned off. Pre-crash brake system unavailable.” is displayed on the multi-
information display.

■ If the LDA indicator comes on in yellow (vehicles with monochrome dis-
play)
It may indicate a malfunction in the system. Contact any authorized Toyota

■ Warning messages for the LDA system (vehicles with color display)
Warning messages are used to indicate a system malfunction or to inform the
driver of the need for caution while driving.

■Before using the LDA system
Do not rely solely on the LDA system. The LDA system does not drive the
vehicle automatically, nor does it reduce the amount of care you need to
take. As such, the driver must always assume full responsibility for under-
standing his/her surroundings, for operati ng the steering wheel to correct
the driving line, and for driving safely.
Inappropriate or negligent driving could lead to an accident.
■ To avoid operating the LDA by mistake
Switch the LDA system off using the LDA switch when not in use.

■ To prevent damage to or incorrect operation of the LDA system
● Do not modify the headlights or attach stickers to the surface of the lights.
● Do not modify the suspension. If your suspension needs repairs, contact
any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable
repairer.
● Do not install or place anything on the hood or the grille. Also, do not install
a grille guard (bull bars, kangaroo bar, etc.).
● If your windshield needs repairs, contact any authorized Toyota retailer or

NOTICE
■To ensure the system operates correctly
If any one of the following situations occurs, the Stop & Start system may
not operate correctly, thus, please have your vehicle checked by any autho-
rized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer.
● While the driver’s seat belt is fastened, the driver’s and front passenger’s
seat belt reminder light flashes.
● Even when the driver’s seat belt is not fastened, the driver’s and front pas-
senger’s seat belt reminder light remains off.
● Vehicles with monochrome display: Even though the driver’ door is closed,
the open door warning light is illuminated or the interior light is illuminated
when the interior light switch is in the door position.
● Vehicles with color display: Even though the driver’ door is closed, the
open door warning is displayed on the multi-information display or the inte-
rior light is illuminated when the interior light switch is in the door position.
● Vehicles with monochrome display: Even though the driver’ door is open,
the open door warning light does not illuminate or the interior light does not
illuminate when the interior light switch is in the door position.
● Vehicles with color display: Even though the driver’ door is open, the open
door warning is not displayed on the multi-information display or the inte-
rior light does not illuminate when the interior light switch is in the door
position.

■Turning off both TRC and VSC systems
Vehicles with monochrome display
To turn the TRC and VSC systems off, press and hold
for more than 3
seconds while the vehicle is stopped.
The “TRC OFF” indicator light and the VSC OFF indicator light will come on.

again to turn the systems back on.
Vehicles with color display
To turn TRC and VSC systems off, press and hold
for more than 3 sec-
onds while the vehicle is stopped.
The VSC OFF indicator light will come on and the “TRC off” will be shown on
the multi-information display.*

WARNING
■When the VSC is activated
The slip indicator light flashes. Always drive carefully. Reckless driving may
cause an accident. Exercise particular care when the indicator light flashes.
■ When the TRC/VSC systems are turned off
Be especially careful and drive at a speed appropriate to the road condi-
tions. As these are the systems to help ensure vehicle stability and driving
force, do not turn the TRC/VSC systems off unless necessary.
■ Replacing tires
Make sure that all tires are of the specified size, brand, tread pattern and
total load capacity. In addition, make sure that the tires are inflated to the
recommended tire inflation pressure level.
The ABS, TRC and VSC systems will not function correctly if different tires
are installed on the vehicle.
Contact any authorized Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any
reliable repairer for further information when replacing tires or wheels.
■ Handling of tires and the suspension
Using tires with any kind of problem or modifying the suspension will affect
the driving assist systems, and may cause a system to malfunction.

■Items that should not be left in the storage spaces
Do not leave glasses, lighters or spray cans in the storage spaces, as this
may result in the following when cabin temperature becomes high:
● Glasses may be deformed by heat or cracked if they come into contact
with other stored items.
● Lighters or spray cans may explode. If they come into contact with other
stored items, the lighter may catch fire or the spray can may release gas,
causing a fire hazard.

arette lighter outlet. Doing so may deform the outlet and make the ciga-
rette lighter pop out of the outlet or become difficult to take out.
