■Operational conditions
The pre-collision system is enabled and the system determines that the pos-
sibility of a frontal collision with a vehicle or pedestrian is high.
Each function is operational at the following speeds:
● Pre-collision warning
● Pre-collision brake assist
● Pre-collision braking
The system may not operate in the following situations:
● If a 12-volt battery terminal has been disconnected and reconnected and
then the vehicle has not been driven for a certain amount of ti me
● If the shift lever is in R
● If VSC is disabled (only the pre-collision warning function wil l be opera-
tional)

4-7. Driving tips
◆Using Eco drive mode
When using Eco drive mode, the torque corresponding to the accel-
erator pedal depression amount can be generated more smoothly
than it is in normal conditions. In addition, the operation of the air
conditioning system (heating/coo ling) will be minimized, improving
the fuel economy. ( P. 203)
◆Use of Hybrid System Indicator
The Eco-friendly driving is possible by keeping the needle of H ybrid
System Indicator within Eco area. ( P. 110)
◆Shift lever operation
Shift the shift lever to D when stopped at a traffic light, or driving in
heavy traffic etc. Shift the shift lever to P when parking. When using
the N, there is no positive effe ct on fuel consumption. In the N, the
gasoline engine operates but e lectricity cannot be generated. A lso,
when using the air conditioning s ystem, etc., the hybrid battery
(traction battery) power is consumed.
◆Accelerator pedal/brake pedal operation
● Drive your vehicle smoothly. Avoid abrupt acceleration and
deceleration. Gradual accelerat ion and deceleration will make
more effective use of the electric motor (traction motor) witho ut
having to use gaso line engine power.
● Avoid repeated acceleration. Repeated acceleration consumes
hybrid battery (tracti on battery) power, resulting in poor fuel con-
sumption. Battery power can be restored by driving with the
accelerator pedal slightly released.
◆When braking
Make sure to operate the brakes gently and in a timely manner. A
greater amount of electrical energy can be regenerated when slow-
ing down.

lowing points:

iPod functions
●When an iPod is connected and the audio source is changed to iP od mode,
the iPod will resume play from the same point in which it was last used.
● Depending on the iPod that is connected to the system, certain functions
may not be available. If a function is unavailable due to a mal function (as
opposed to a system specification), disconnecting the device and recon-
necting it may resolve the problem.
● While connected to the system, the iPod cannot be operated with its own
controls. It is necessary to use the controls of the vehicle's multimedia sys-
tem instead.
● When the battery level of an iPod is very low, the iPod may not operate. If
so, charge the iPod before use.
● Compatible models ( P. 3 1 0 )
■ iPod problems
To resolve most problems encountered when using your iPod, disc onnect
your iPod from the vehicle iPod connection and reset it. For in structions on
how to reset your iPod, refer to your iPod Owner's Manual.
■ Error messages
MessageCause/Correction procedures
“Connection error. Please
consult your Owner’s Man-
ual for instructions on how
to connect the iPod.”
This indicates a problem in the iPod or its con-
nection.
“No music files found.”This indicates that there is no music data in
the iPod.
“No videos found.”This indicates that no video files are included
in the iPod.
“There are no songs avail-
able for playback. Please
add compatible files to
your iPod.”
This indicates that songs are not found in a
selected playlist.
“iPod authorization unsuc-
cessful.”This indicates that the display multimedia sys-
tem failed to authorize the iPod.
Please check your iPod.

Listening to Bluetooth® Audio
The Bluetooth® audio system enables the user to enjoy music
played on a portable player from the vehicle speakers via wire-
less communication.
When a Bluetooth

tion status on the “Bluetooth
* Audio” screen. If the device is not con-
nected, either register o r reconnect the device. ( P. 3 2 6 )

In other situations
Even though all conceivable measures have been taken, the symptom sta-
tus does not change.
The cellular phone is not close enough to this system.
Bring the cellular phone closer to this system.
The cellular phone is the most likely cause of the symptom.
Turn the cellular phone off, remove and reinstall the battery pack,
and then restart th e cellular phone.
Enable the cellular phone’s Bluetooth
® connection.
Stop the cellular phone’s security software and close all appli ca-
tions.
Before using an application installed on the cellular phone, ca re-
fully check its source and how it s operation might affect this sys-
tem.

■When using the Bluetooth® audio system
● In the following conditions, the system may not function.
• If the portable audio player is turned off
• If the portable audio player is not connected
• If the portable audio player’s battery is low
● There may be a delay if a cellular phone connection is made dur ing
Bluetooth
® audio play.
● Depending on the type of portable audio player that is connecte d to the sys-
tem, operation may differ slightly and certain functions may no t be available.
■ When using the hands-free system
●The multimedia system is muted when making a call.
● If both parties speak at the same time, it may be difficult to hear.
● If the received call volume is overly loud, an echo may be heard.
If the Bluetooth
® phone is too close to the system, quality of the sound may
deteriorate and connection status may deteriorate.
● In the following circumstances, it may be difficult to hear the other party:
• When driving on unpaved roads
• When driving at high speeds
• If a roof or window is open
• If the air conditioning is blowing directly on the microphone
• If there is interference from the network of the cellular phon e
■ Conditions under which the system will not operate
●If using a cellular phone that does not support Bluetooth
®
●If the cellular phone is turned off
● If you are outside of cellular phone service coverage
● If the cellular phone is not connected
● If the cellular phone’s battery is low
● When outgoing calls are controlled, due to heavy traffic on tel ephone lines,
etc.
● When the cellular phone itself cannot be used
● When transferring contact data from the cellular phone
