The master warning light also
comes on or flashes in order to
indicate that a message is cur-
rently being displayed on the multi-
information display.
If any of the warning message or indicator comes on again after the
following actions have been per formed, contact your Toyota deal er.
If a warning message is displayed
If a warning is shown on the multi-information display, stay ca lm
and perform the following actions:

Indicates a malfunction in:
• The Automatic High Beam system
• The LED headlight systemA buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer.
Indicates that:
• There is a high possibility of a frontal collision;
or
• The pre-collision braking function is operating A buzzer also sounds.
 Check the vehicle's surroundings and take
evasive action if necessary.
(If equipped)
• Indicates a malfunction in the smart key system
• Indicates a malfunction in the steering lock sys-
tem
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer.
(If equipped)
Indicates a malfunction in the cruise control sys-
tem
A buzzer also sounds.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer.
Indicates a malfunction in the Brake Override

When trouble arises
PRIUS c_UIndicates that the hybrid system has overheated
This message may be displayed when driving
under severe operating conditions. (For exam-
ple, when driving up a long steep hill.)
A buzzer also sounds.
 Stop and check. ( P. 529)
Indicates that the Automatic High Beam switch is
pressed while the headlights are in low beam.
Turn the high beam on.
Indicates that, since the VSC (Vehicle Stability
Control) system was turned off, the pre-collision
braking and pre-collision brake assist are dis-
abled (The pre-collision warning function will be
operational)
 Turn the VSC on. ( P. 240, 267)
Indicates that the pre-collision system is disabled.
 Have the vehicle inspected by your Toyota
dealer.
Indicates that the hybrid battery (traction battery)
is low A buzzer also sounds.
 When stopping the vehicle for a long
period of time, shift the shift lever to P. The
hybrid battery (traction battery) cannot be
charged with the shift position in N.

power has dropped because a long period of time
has elapsed after shifting the shift lever to N
A buzzer also sounds.
 Shift the shift lever to P and restart the
hybrid system when starting the vehicle.
Indicates that the driver’s door was opened with
the shift position in N, D or B A buzzer also sounds.
 Shift the shift lever to P.
Indicates that the accelerator pedal is depressed
while the shift position is in N A buzzer also sounds.
 Release the accelerator pedal and shift the
shift lever to D, B or R.
Indicates that the power switch is turned to the
“ACC” or “LOCK” position (vehicles without a
smart key system) or the power switch is turned
to ACCESSORY mode or turned off (vehicles
with a smart key system) and the driver’s door is
opened while the lights are turned on A buzzer also sounds.
 Turn the lights off.

check that the warning m essage and light go off.

The filter may be clogged, the air intake vent
may be blocked or there may be a gap in the
duct.
 If the air intake vent is dirty, refer to P. 404

intake vent is not dirty, have the vehicle
inspected at your Toyota dealer.

Power was turned off due to the
automatic power off function.
Next time when starting
the hybrid system,
increase the engine speed
slightly and maintain that
level for approximately 5
minutes to recharge the
12-volt-battery.
Once
The electronic key has a low
battery.
Replace the electronic key
battery. ( P. 451)

The driver’s door was opened
and closed with the power
switch turned off and then the
power switch was put in
ACCESSORY mode twice with-
out the hybrid system being
started.
Press the power switch
while depressing the brake
pedal.
During a hybrid system starting
procedure in the event that the
electronic key was not function-

power switch was touched with
the electronic key.
 Press the power switch
within 10 seconds of the
buzzer sounding.

Chock the tires.
For vehicles with steel wheels,
remove the wheel cover using
the wrench.
To protect the wheel cover, place
a rag between the wrench and
the wheel cover.
Slightly loosen the wheel nuts
(one turn).
Vehicles with steel wheels: Make
sure to remove the wheel cover
before loosening the wheel nuts.

Turn the tire jack portion “A” by
hand until the notch of the jack
is in contact with the jack point.
The jack point guides are located
under the rocker panel. They
indicate the jack point positions.
Raise the vehicle until the tire is
slightly raised off the ground.
Remove all the wheel nuts and
the tire.
When resting the tire on the
ground, place the tire so that the
wheel design faces up to avoid
scratching the wheel surface.
