Keys, doors and windows25Initialising the power windowsIf the windows cannot be closed
automatically (e.g. after
disconnecting the vehicle battery), a
warning message is displayed in the
Driver Information Centre.
Vehicle messages 3 76.
Activate the window electronics as
follows:
1. Close doors.
2. Switch on ignition.
3. Pull the switch until the window is completely opened and keep
pulling for additional 2 seconds.
4. Push the switch as long as the window is completely closed and
keep pushing for additional
2 seconds.
5. Repeat for each window.
Heated rear window
Operated by pressing f together
with heated exterior mirrors.
Heating works with the engine
running and is switched off
automatically after a short time.Depending on climate control system, f is located at a different position.

Sun visors
The sun visors can be folded down or swivelled to the side to prevent
dazzling.
If the sun visors have integral mirrors, the mirror covers should be closed
when driving.
A ticket holder is located on the
backside of the sun visor.

Temperature
Adjust the temperature by

Press A/C to switch on cooling. The
LED in the button illuminates to
indicate activation. Cooling is only
functional when the engine is running and fan is switched on.
Press A/C again to switch off cooling.
The air conditioning system cools and
dehumidifies (dries) as soon as the
outside temperature is slightly above
the freezing point. Therefore,
condensation may form and drip from
under the vehicle.
If no cooling or drying is required,
switch off the cooling system for fuel
saving reasons.
Activated cooling may inhibit
Autostops.
Stop-start system 3 103.
Air recirculation system
Press n to activate air recirculation
mode. The LED in the button
illuminates to indicate activation.
Press n again to deactivate air
recirculation mode.
9 Warning
The exchange of fresh air is
reduced in air recirculation mode.
In operation without cooling the air
humidity increases, so the
windows may mist up from inside.
The quality of the passenger
compartment air deteriorates,
which may cause the vehicle
occupants to feel drowsy.
In warm and very humid ambient air conditions, the windscreen may mist
up from outside when cold air is
directed towards it. If windscreen
mists up from outside, activate
windscreen wiper and deactivate w.
Maximum cooling
Briefly open the windows so that hot
air can disperse quickly.
● Switch on cooling A/C.
● Press n for air recirculation
system on.
● Press x for air distribution.

Demisting and defrosting the
windows
● Press $: the air distribution is
directed towards the windscreen.

● Switch on cooling A/C, if
required.
● Set fan speed E to highest level.
● Switch on heated rear window
f.
● Open side air vents as required and direct them towards the doorwindows.
Note
If à is pressed while the engine is
running, an Autostop will be inhibited until à is pressed again.
If à is pressed while the engine is in
an Autostop, the engine will restart
automatically.

The electronic climate control system

Press MENU to manually set the
following climate control funtions:

Automatic mode AUTO
Basic setting for maximum comfort:
● Press AUTO, the air distribution
and fan speed are regulated
automatically.
● Open all air vents to allow optimised air distribution in
automatic mode.
● Air conditioning must be activated for optimal cooling and
demisting. Press A/C to switch on
air conditioning. The LED in the
button indicates activation.
● Set the preselected temperatures for the front seats
using the left and right rotary ring. Recommended temperature is
22 °C.
Manual settings
Climate control system settings can
be changed by activating the
following functions:
Fan speed E
Adjust the air flow by turning rotary
ring to the desired speed. Turn
anticlockwise to decrease or turn
clockwise to increase. Fan speed can also be changed in the climate
settings menu. Press MENU to enter
the menu.
Turn rotary ring anticlockwise as far
as it will go: fan and cooling are
switched off.
