Control indicator o illuminates if
coolant temperature is too high. Switch off engine immediately.
Caution
If engine coolant temperature is
too high, stop vehicle, switch off
engine. Danger to engine. Check
coolant level.
Engine oil level monitor
The state of the engine oil level is
displayed in the Driver Information
Centre for a few seconds following
the service information after switching
on the ignition.
A proper state of engine oil level is
indicated by the message Oil level
correct .
If engine oil level is low, I flashes
and Oil level incorrect is indicated,
accompanied by C. Confirm
engine oil level by using the oil
dipstick and top up engine oil
respectively.
Engine oil 3 217.
A fault of measurement is indicated
by the message Oil level
measurement invalid . Check engine
oil level manually by using the
dipstick.
Service display
The service system informs when to
change the engine oil and filter or a
vehicle service is required. Based on
driving conditions, the interval at
which an engine oil and filter change
is required can vary considerably.
Service information 3 254.
A required service due is displayed in the Driver Information Centre for
seven seconds after switching on the
ignition.
If no service is required for the next
3000 km or more no service
information appears in the display.
If service is required within the next
3000 km, the remaining distance or
time duration is indicated for several
seconds. Simultaneously C
illuminates permanently as reminder.
If service is required in less than
1000 km, C flashes and then
illuminates permanently. Remaining distance or time duration is indicatedfor several seconds.
Overdued service is indicated by a
message in the Driver Information
Centre which indicates the overdued

Preheating of diesel engine is
activated. Only activates when

Exhaust filter

The exhaust filter requires cleaning.
Continue driving until the control
indicator extinguishes.
Illuminates temporarily Start of saturation of the exhaust filter.
Start cleaning process as soon as
possible by driving at a vehicle speed of at least 60 km/h.
Illuminates constantlyIndication of a low additive level. Seek
the assistance of a workshop.

Control of the vehicle
Never coast with engine not
running
Many systems will not function in this situation ( e.g. brake servo unit, power
steering). Driving in this manner is a
danger to yourself and others.
All systems function during an
Autostop.

Pedals
To ensure the pedal travel is
uninhibited, there must be no mats in the area of the pedals.
Use only floor mats, which fit properly
and are fixed by the retainers on the
driver side.Steering
If power steering assist is lost
because the engine stops or due to a system malfunction, the vehicle can
be steered but may require increased
effort.Starting and operating
New vehicle running-in Do not brake unnecessarily hard for
the first few journeys.
During the first drive, smoke may
occur because of wax and engine oil
evaporating off the exhaust system.
Park the vehicle in the open for a
while after the first drive and avoid
inhaling the fumes.
During the running-in period, fuel and engine oil consumption may be
higher.
Additionally, the cleaning process of
the exhaust filter may take place more
often.

temperatures
Starting the engine without additional
heaters is possible down to -25 °С for diesel engines and -30 °C for petrol
engines. Required is an engine oil
with the correct viscosity, the correct
fuel, performed services and a
sufficiently charged vehicle battery.
With temperatures below -30 °C the
automatic transmission requires a
warming phase of approx.
five minutes. The selector lever must
be in position P.
Heating functionalities Note
Individual heating functionalities,
such as heated seats or heated
steering wheel, may be temporarily
unavailable in the event of electrical
loading constraints. Functions will
be resumed after some minutes.Turbo engine warm-up
Upon start-up, engine available
torque may be limited for a short time, especially when the engine
temperature is cold. The limitation is
to allow the lubrication system to fully
protect the engine.
Overrun cut-off
The fuel supply is automatically cut off
during overrun, i.e. when the vehicle
is driven with a gear engaged but accelerator pedal is released.
Depending on driving conditions, the
overrun cut-off may be deactivated.
Stop-start system The stop-start system helps to save
fuel and to reduce the exhaust
emissions. When conditions allow, it
switches off the engine as soon as the
vehicle is at a low speed or at a
standstill, e.g. at a traffic light or in a
traffic jam.Activation
The stop-start system is available as
soon as the engine is started, the
vehicle starts-off and the conditions
as stated below in this section are
fulfilled.
The system is ready to operate when
the LED in the button Ò is not
illuminated. To activate the system
when the system is deactivated,
press Ó.
If the stop-start system is temporarily
not available and the button Ò is
pressed, the LED in the button
flashes.

The use of any other type of (bio)
fuel (vegetable or animal oils, pure
or diluted, domestic fuel etc.) is
strictly prohibited (risk of damage
to the engine and fuel system).
Note
The only diesel additives authorised for use are those that meet the
B715000 standard.
Vehicles with diesel engine operating
in Ecuador require the additive
DLP 32-600 to avoid damage of the
injection system. This additive can
only be purchased at Opel dealers.
The additive has to be poured into the
tank before refilling Diesel. For each
50 litres of Diesel refilled, 30 millilitres of additive have to be added. To dose
the additive, use the cap of the
additive can. The cap allows a dose
of 30 millilitres.
Low temperature operation At temperatures below 0 °C, somediesel products with biodiesel blendsmay clog, freeze or gel, which may
affect the fuel supply system. Starting
and engine operation may not work
properly. Make sure to fill winter
grade diesel fuel at ambient
temperatures below 0 °C.
Arctic grade diesel fuel can be used
in extreme cold temperatures below
-20 °C. Using this fuel grade in warm
or hot climates is not recommended
and may cause engine stalling, poor starting or damage on the fuel
injection system.
Refuelling9 Danger
Before refuelling, switch off
ignition and any external heaters
with combustion chambers.
Follow the operating and safety
instructions of the filling station
when refuelling.9 Danger
Fuel is flammable and explosive.
No smoking. No naked flames or
sparks.
If you can smell fuel in your
vehicle, have the cause of this
remedied immediately by a
workshop.
A label with symbols at the fuel filler
flap is indicating the allowed fuel
types. In Europe the pump nozzles of the filling stations are marked with
these symbols. Refuel only the
allowed fuel type.
Caution
In case of misfuelling, do not
switch on ignition.
