To park the vehicle, fi
rst bring it to a com-
plete stop, firmly apply the parking brake, and then move the sele
ctor lever to the “P”
(PARK) position. Make sure the brake warning light is illumi-nated.
N00593100046
When parking on a hill, set the parking brake, and turn the front wheels toward the curb on a downhill, or away from
the curb on an uphill.
NOTE
When leaving the ve
hicle unattended, be
sure to close the sunr
oof and carry the key.
Do not try to operate the sunroof if it is fro- zen closed (after snowfall or during extreme cold). Do not sit on or plac
e heavy luggage on the
sunroof or roof opening edge. Do not apply any forc
e that may cause dam-
age to the sunroof. Release the switch when the sunroof has reached a completely open or completelyclosed position. If the sunroof does not operate when the sun- roof switch is operated, release the switch and check whether something is trapped by the sunroof. If nothing is trapped, have thesunroof checked at an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. Be careful when tilting up the sunroof if a ski carrier or a roof carrie
r is installed. Depend-
ing on the model of ski carrier or roof carrier, the sunroof may contact
the carrier when the
sunroof is tilted up. Be sure to close the sunroof completely when washing the vehicle or when leaving the vehicle. Do not put any wax on the weatherstrip (black rubber) around the sunroof opening. Ifit is waxed, the weat
herstrip cannot maintain
a weatherproof seal with the sunroof. After washing the vehicle or after rain be sure to wipe off any water that is on the sun- roof before operating it.
Operating the sunroof repeatedly with the engine turned off will run down the battery.Operate the sunroof only while the engine isrunning.

When the parking brake is applied, the brake warning light in the instrument cluster andthe indicator light (A) on the Electric parking brake switch will come on. When parking on a hill, set the parking brake, and turn the front wheels toward the curb on adownhill, or away from
the curb on an uphill.
CAUTIONWhile the vehicle is in
 motion, do not apply
the Electric parking
brake. Doing so may
cause overheating and/or
 premature wear of
brake parts, reducing brake performance. NOTE
 In the following condi
tions, the brake warn-
ing light will illuminate for approximately15 seconds and then go off. • While the Electric pa
rking brake is applied,
the ignition switch is turned to the “OFF” position or the opera
tion mode is put in
OFF. • While the ignition switch is in the “OFF” position or the operation mode is in OFF,the Electric pa
rking brake switch is pulled
up.
 If the Electric parking
brake must be applied
in an emergency situation, pull and hold theElectric parking brake
switch to apply the
Electric parking brake. At that time, the fol- lowing warning display will appear in the multi-information disp

and hold the Electric
parking brake switch.
When parking on steep grades, pull up the Electric parking brak
e switch twice (once
more after the operati
on is completed once).
The maximum effect of the parking brakewill be obtained. If the parking brake does not hold the vehicle stationary after the foot brake is released, contact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice. When the ignition switch or the operation mode is other than ON, if the Electric park-ing brake is applied, the Electric parking brake indicator light comes on for a while.NOTE
If the Electric parking brake switch is repeat- edly operated in a short time, the followingwarning display will
appear in the multi-
information display and
the Electric parking
brake will temporarily
stop working. In such
case, wait for approxi
mately 1 minute until
the warning display di
sappears, and operate
the Electric parki
ng brake switch again.
 The brake warning light
 and the indicator
light on the Electric
parking brake switch
may blink. This does not
 indicate a malfunc-
tion, the lights go off when/if the Electricparking brake is released. Depending on the situat
ion, the Electric
parking brake may be
applied automatically.

1. With the operation mode in ON, press the CRUISE CONTROL ON/OFF switch (A) to turn on the cruise control. The indicatordisplay in the meter cluster will come on. Indicator display
2. Accelerate or decele
rate to your desired
speed, then push down and release the“SET -” switch (B) when the indica- tor/indicator display is illuminated. The vehicle will then maintain the desiredspeed. The “SET” indicator appears on the infor- mation screen in the meter cluster.
N00518501413
There are two ways to increase the set speed.
Push up and hold the “RES +” switch (C) while driving at the se
t speed, and your speed
will then gradually increase. When you reach your desired speed, releasethe switch. Your new
cruising speed is now
set. To increase your speed in small amounts, push up the “RES +” switch (C) for less than approximately 1 second and release it.Each time you press the “RES +” switch (C), your vehicle will go approximately 1 mph (1.6 km/h) faster.

Also, the set speed dr
iving may be deacti-
vated as follow: When the engine speed rises and approaches the tachom
eter’s red zone (the
red-coloured part of the tachometer dial).
N00518901433
If the set speed driving is deactivated by thecondition described in “To deactivate” on page 5-106, you can resume the previouslyset speed by push up the “RES +” switch (C) while driving at a speed of approximately 25 mph (40 km/h) or higher. The “SET” indicator appears on the informa- tion screen in the meter cluster. Under either of the following conditions, however, using the switch does not allow you to resume the previously set speed. In thesesituations, repeat the
speed setting procedure:
The CRUISE CONTROL ON/OFF switch is pressed. The operation mode is put in OFF. Indicator goes off.
N00576800048
ACC maintains a set speed with no need for you to use the accelera
tor pedal. Using a sen-
sor (A), the system also measures the relative speed and distance betw
een your vehicle and
a vehicle in front, and
maintains a set follow-
ing distance between
your vehicle and the
vehicle in front by au
tomatically decelerating
your vehicle if it becomes too close to the vehicle in front. The cruising set speed can be set from 25mph (40 km/h) to 110 mph (180 km/h). The distance can be select
ed from three levels.
If the vehicle in front decelerates, the ACCwill automatically apply limited braking to maintain the distance, a
nd if the front vehicle
then accelerates, the ACC will automaticallyaccelerate your vehicle
up to the set speed. If
your vehicle is approa
ching too close to the
front vehicle, a buzzer will sound and a warn-ing is shown in the multi information display. When the ACC detects no vehicle ahead, the set speed will be maintained.Conventional cruise cont
rol mode without the
distance control can
also be selected.
Stop lights are illuminated during automaticbraking.
CAUTION When the set speed driving is deactivated automatically in any
situation other than
those listed above, th
ere may be a system
malfunction. Press the CRUISE CONTROL ON/OFF switch to turn off the cruise control and haveyour vehicle inspected by an authorized Mit- subishi Motors dealer or
 a repair facility of
your choice.
