The Active stability
control (ASC) takes
overall control of the

tem, traction control function and skid controlfunction to help maintain the vehicle’s control and traction. Please read

in an ac

During repeated full-lock turning of the steering wheel (for example, while you are manoeuvring the vehicl
e into a parking
space), a protection
function may be acti-
vated to prevent overheating of the power steering system. This f
unction will make the
steering wheel gradually harder to turn. Inthis event, limit your turning of the steering wheel for a while. When the system has cooled down, the steering effort will returnto normal.  If you turn the steering wheel while the vehi- cle is stationary with
the headlights on, the
headlights may become
dim. This behavior
is not abnormal. The headlights will return to their original brightne
ss after a short while.

If the set speed driving is deactivated by thecondition described in “To deactivate” on page 5-106, you can resume the previouslyset speed by push up the “RES +” switch (C) while driving at a speed of approximately 25 mph (40 km/h) or higher.The “SET” indicator appears on the informa- tion screen in the meter cluster. Under either of the following conditions, however, using the switch does not allow you to resume the previously set speed. In thesesituations, repeat the

ACC maintains a set speed with no need for you to use the accelera
tor pedal. Using a sen-
sor (A), the system also measures the relative speed and distance betw
een your vehicle and
a vehicle in front, and
maintains a set follow-
ing distance between
your vehicle and the

your vehicle if it becomes too close to the vehicle in front. The cruising set speed can be set from 25mph (40 km/h) to 110 mph (180 km/h). The distance can be select
ed from three levels.
If the vehicle in front decelerates, the ACCwill automatically apply limited braking to maintain the distance, a
nd if the front vehicle
then accelerates, the ACC will automaticallyaccelerate your vehicle
up to the set speed. If
your vehicle is approa
ching too close to the
front vehicle, a buzzer will sound and a warn-ing is shown in the multi information display. When the ACC detects no vehicle ahead, the set speed will be maintained.Conventional cruise cont

will give audible and
visual warnings. When the FCM judges that a collision with the vehicle or the pedest
rian straight-ahead is
imminent, the system will automatically apply moderate braking to warn you to apply the brakes immediately. When the FCM judges that a collision with the vehicle or the pedest
rian straight-ahead is
highly unavoidable, the system will apply emergency braking to reduce the severity of the collision and, if possible, to avoid the col-lision. Stop lights are illuminated during automatic braking.
WA R N I N G Before using the FCM, read this entire section to fully understand the limitationsof this system. Failure to follow instruc- tions could result in an accident.
 The FCM is desi
gned to help avoid certain
frontal collisions or
reduce the crash
speed in such collisions. It is not a substi-tute for your safe and careful driving. Under certain circumstances, the system may not operate or may not detect cor-rectly a vehicle or a
pedestrian in front.

wearing loose-fitting

Detection areas

CAUTION In certain situations, the RCTA may not detect a vehicle in the detection areas. Some of these situations include;• When the reversing sp
eed of your vehicle is
approximately 11 mph (18 km/h) or higher.
• When an approaching vehicle speed is approximately 4 mph (7 km/h) or less.• If the sensor detectio
n area is blocked by a
nearby object, such as
wall or parked vehi-
cle.• When a vehicle is approaching fromstraight behind your vehicle.• When your vehicle is exiting from anangled parking spot.• Immediately after the RCTA has been turned on.• Immediately after th
e operation mode has
been put in ON.• When the bumper surface around the sensoris covered with dirt
, snow and ice, etc.
• When the sensor becomes extremely hot or cold, such as after the vehicle has been parked for a prolonged time under the blaz-ing sun or in cold weather.
 If the bumper has experienced an impact, the sensor may have be
en damaged and the

If a problem occurs with the system, a visual warning specific to the type of the problem is given together with an audible alarm.
The alarm shown below is displayed if the system becomes temporarily unavailable due to the high or low temperature of the sensor. After temperature of the sensor has been inrange, the system will automatically return to operation. If the alarm continues showing, there is a pos-sibility that the LDW has a malfunction. Con- tact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for inspection of the system.
 The LDW may not operat
e correctly in the
following situations
and the LDW may not
give warnings or may
give false warnings:
• When lane markers are not clearly visi- ble due to rain, snow, fog, dark area, etc.• When the road surface is shiny.• When old lane markers remain on the road surface.• When the lane markers are double linesor the shape of the lane markers are complicated.• When driving in an extremely narrowlane.• When the distance
between your vehicle
and a vehicle in
front is short.
• When driving into the sun light.• When driving on curves.• When driving on bumpy roads.• When driving in construction zones.• When passing through a place where the brightness suddenly changes, such as at the entrance to or exit of a tunnel.• When the headlights of an oncomingvehicle are very bright. • When the rear of your vehicle is weigheddown with the weight of passengers andluggage.• When the headlights
of your vehicle are

CAUTION To maintain proper function of the LDW:• Always keep the windshield and the head- lights clean.• Do not put anything, su
